  1. I wish it was /flex instead of /stretch. Guild Wars 1 has /flex Though following their current trend it will only be achievable through something very difficult or unpleasantly unfun.
  2. I think what really did the damage was the information that Tengu were initially going to be the playable race instead of charr and the Dominion of Winds was going to be their home city. Knowing there's assets for it feels like Arenanet made us a cake but left it just out of reach. The reality may be that there is no cake but it doesn't stop anyone from wanting it.
  3. LS1 was fun, not for the story but for the world events like the Marionette Fight (think Octovine, but in turns so you could watch how other lanes did and cheer them on. I loved that!) and the Attack on Lion's Arch (I really felt like I was desperately trying to save people. It was so good. There were also roleplayers engaging with the content which really made the experience more immersive) I liked the story involving Joko - Joko himself was a fantastic and entertaining character that kept me intrigued and engaged. The thing with Balthazar and the gods in later chapters kind of killed it for me, leaving more questions than answers and feeling disappointed and sad for humans. I don't want to post spoilers but holy crap I have no respect for the human gods whatsoever any more. Then...the writing gets a little less enjoyable after that, going down very dark gritty paths. I wanted to learn about the Norn; a race which had been sort of the butt of jokes for awhile and saw what I hoped to be their story, turned in to one about Charr. Bjora Marches made me play less and I just haven't recovered my interest since. The game play and story is missing something; I can't currently fault the studio as I am sure Covid-19 has had a massive impact on their work. I am thankful there is still new content! But I am not really engaged like I used to.

Just my opinion but the sPvP subforum would be extremly angry to see that. -steeples her fingers- Yeeessssss

With an epic voice!"* > Anet artists: *"... you mean like a story mission voiceover about Tyria?"* > PR department: *"NO, kitten it we'll do it ourselves just give us some characters walking across a beach and yelling or something."* > I am going to hazard a guess that it was to represent how Guild Wars 2 broke free from the conventions of mmorpg competitors at the time, which people felt stuck in - paying subscription fees, and frozen in place with endless leveling and gear grind. Guild Wars 2 was, at the time, supposed to be different - an adventure where your decisions mattered; that your character really could be a piece of you stepping in to that epic story. I am guessing this based on what I knew before launch; from the videos and interviews of the developers. Their video commercials were always kind of missing the mark. Essentially they were attempting to encompass the scope of their intentions for this game but that is not really good marketing. What worked was the interviews, screenshots from development, and previews during game cons: the game had a lot of potential and merit even before beta and when any article showed that, it got people interested. Their artistic and overly symbolic video commercials not so much.
  7. I am kind of confused why people are mocking the OP in the responses here. Arenanet has clearly defined rules when it comes to names. Guild names and pet names must also be subjected to the same rules character names are. I have seen a handful of blatantly hateful guild names in 8 years; guild names that included hate speech and slurs. Some of these were obviously troll guilds designed specifically to provoke people. Troll or not, they are against the Terms of Service and it would be nice to have a more convenient way to report them.
  8. > @"ChampionMasquerade.5283" said: > Aside from the reasons others have stated, few would make sense on another character. For example, Sylvari don't have a warband they can call for assistance > False. We've already learned after the tragedy in Lion's Arch that an asura adopted a norn and a charr cub - it makes sense that a charr could adopt orphans and raise them in fahrar's too. We've learned from Roxx that we can form warbands with those not of our own race. So I don't see any reason why a Sylvari couldn't join a War Band and call upon them for back up.
  9. They sort of DO have core map bounties in the form of Bandit leaders and Legendary Bandit Executioners. I like that they spawn on their own and you can choose to confront them without a commander and there's a chance for it to spawn an even stronger enemy after the initial defeat. I think it would be neat to make rotating, free spawning Legendary/Champ enemies. I say rotating so that it stays fresh and free-spawning so that it keeps that "stumbled upon" feeling that made the game so fun when we were new. If we could tie a title to managing to defeat them all that would be beautiful. Any idea that seeks to recycle or upgrade core maps sounds fun to me imo!
  10. 1) Racial abilities were not "overlooked" - instead they were put there solely for flavor. The developers didn't want there to be a skill balance issue with racial skills resulting in people choosing certain races specifically for their racial skill synergies. 2) I like this idea, especially because developers promised we would get to wear the clothes we see on npcs. They've been adding some of them to the game as rewards; the norn shaman gear for example. Raven and Bear shaman clothes are now earnable armor in the game. 3) Many people have begged for this, myself included but there are just as many people against it. I like the idea of being able to purchase a set of looks for minions/turrets -so a norn could have sylvari turrets, or a necromancer could have asuran minions. What would those look like? Who knows but I would love to have something different! For your #4 they already have racial chairs. Sylvari have: Bough of the Grove Chair Norn: Great Lodge Chair Asura: Inquest Overseer Chair Charr: Legionnaire's Chair Human: Club Chair Non of them are too ostentatious. I love ideas to really celebrate and embrace GW2 racial appearances and culture! Would love to see more.

My bad. > > Honestly, I hate this idea, it just makes no sense. > > I can't have that hairstyle/perform that emote unless I've cleared this raid and purchased it as a reward? Unless there's a ton of magic behind it, that's not how things work. If you see someone with a cool haircut that you want to try, you just ... get the haircut and try it. (Or a wig, or whatever). You see someone make a gesture that catches your attention and you want to copy it? You just do that, maybe practice it a bit, but there's nothing special about the kind of stuff that goes into emotes. Why should ANYONE need to 'earn' it? My concept really depends on what the chapter is about and who we meet in it because I like the idea of earning the right to bear a symbol of being a part of a certain culture. For example: Earning a norn tattoo, a human's royal hair cut, an asura's piercing, a charr's scar I made this thread because I feel the rewards have sometimes lacked meaning and therefor substance so I wanted to combine things I loved in this game: story, in-game cultures and character customization. There have been similar rewards in the past and the community has had mixed reactions to it. I just wanted to open the floor for new reward ideas really. But, yeah if there's going to be a grind I want it to mean something. I want my character to have a visual symbol of their dedication to learning about other cultures. Imagine a norn earning an asuran piercing! Or an asura earning a charr battle scar, or a charr being given a human delegate's hair cut? Imagine if you earned all of those things and got a title to go with it? That sort of thing is exciting to me because that's what I imagined when I first started playing.
  12. The oppressive aura of Bjora Marches, and then...the strikes. I fell off that horse and just have not been able to get back on with any enthusiasm. I REALLY wanted that Raven Shaman armor and thought if I grinded one of the strikes a certain amount of time I would get the top. Only later I found out the top was RNG from a particular strike I really hated more than the others. I grinded them a bit more for the runic armor and I will say THAT was worth it. New armor skins? YES PLEASE. The second thing that is causing me to lose interest is the lack of meaningful rewards, as a veteran player. Even though I have 19+ characters, I have more than enough weapons and skins which I worked hard for and absolutely love. New weapons require more grind and gold to craft but aren't any better or necessarily prettier than those I already have and it isn't worth the struggle for a mastery point. There's no way to display them either as an achievement unless you use/wear it, but I have my looks and gear already down. So...those rewards /goals aren't rewards or goals for me.
  13. Engineer is not for everyone but out of all classes across all specializations, it has the most build diversity. I will let you know that an engineer's kits are as important to it as it's main weapons. Find ways to synergize your trait lines and the tools you use. One example on MetaBattle: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Engineer_-_Leveling_Bomber A good idea is to look at the different builds on offer on that site and try to understand how they are synergizing traits. My own personal engineer uses pistol/shield and turrets, it shares boons with allies and is pretty tough.
  14. This happens 100% of the time to me also. My colored characters look white. It's very weird.
  15. For real, the game has kept me sane during some really dark times. Thank you so much!
  16. I kind of liked it. I liked that it drew people back to older content.
  17. I am going to go ahead and agree with what every one is saying: a good blend of meta and aesthetics makes a good map but I will also add: exploration in the form of jumping puzzles. These days with the introduction of maps I try to explore beyond map boundaries because I've already explored the maps many times over. Exploring is my hands-down favoritest thing to do in the game beside fashion-wars. I think Tangled Depths would have been a favorite if it weren't for the hoards of mobs interrupting the view. Caledon and Metrica are my favorite for that "exploration" vibe. Jumping Puzzles are one of my favorite parts of the game.
  18. Some content and achievements are easier or more challenging to complete on other characters. Sometime chapters had branching paths so you have the option to choose something different. Sometimes you may want a reward from a vendor on one of those maps and it will go faster by farming map currency on multiple alts. (common things people go for are ascended trinkets and back items) Your skill level might have increased and you may want to play through it again. Some chapters award a black lion chest key (you can only get this once a week per account I think. But it's enough of a draw that people make throw away alts just for that.) I haven't done this for every story chapter because I have so many alts I lose track but it is something I think about.
  19. I feel the trailer could have used more finesse regardless of what I already suspected based on previous chapters.
  20. Often tactics like this are to bait players who prefer one game mode in to trying a game mode they might not want to. The real remedy for you OP would be to help people new to the game mode be more useful . The outcome would be that they would earn their mount faster and they'll either leave Wvw sooner OR, best case scenario you've created another wvw fan who will stay and help your server. It's a win/win.
  21. If by expansion you meant more personal story content, more npc content (example updates on loose threads like Zojja) updates to existing maps (ie: new dynamic events, finishing or updating current dungeons for example including new difficulties to cope with power creep and restore interest) Adding new activities or masteries to old map (ie: some variant of fishing?, new mount activities) or - maybe even update the current home instance to include achievement/skin displays. the expansion could also include quality of life changes like giving us more UI customization and updating the block and follow feature. This would also add some replayability to existing material to keep current maps fresh. It's a win/win.
