Did it work?

It's simple, if you die in a scripted event, you die forever and are forgotten immediately, sometimes literally vaprizing. If you die by a random mook, you can be revived. If you die in a cut scene you will die but get references about your death for at least 1 more story.
Also unique to GW2. If you have a name, your probably going to die. If you are a red shirt, you might just make it.

Nerf everyone damage by 80%, boost crafted weapon emplacement player damage by 300%. It should not be possible to 1 hit kill a player by another players basic attacks. This will allow less optimal builds from beginners to actually survive more than 5 seconds and not get so discouraged. However, a trebuchet to the face or a cannon to the groin absolutely should at minimum knock you down and cause you to bleed out. An entire zerg attacking a wall should absolutely be able to be wiped out by a couple cannons. This would force some actual strategy and force the invading army to have to actually set up their own ranged siege weapons.
Pretty sure everyone will hate my idea, but these were the things that drove me nuts and made wvw thoroughly unenjoyable for me.

An out of combat only or in town only build profile swap. So we have the ability to save a set of skills and specs with different profiles for different purposes. I often find the need to switch between a solo focused build and a team supporting build depending on what I am doing.

I get disconnects from pretty much every story mission unless I have a friend in the story with me. I have no idea why that would matter.
We also occasionally get group disconnects in POF stories, presumably that means a server crash.
Reading some of these, I wonder if purposely tanking the framerate would be the answer. Lock to 30fps, or even change your CPU max state to something crazy like 1% just to purposely wreck your framerate.

Honestly I don't think they ever will fix it.

I was stuck on this quest too. I was able to defeat it, quite quickly in fact, by just collecting Tonn at the beginning, running straight to the first and second tower. He would teleport to me and blow up the tower each time. Then jump in the water and swim to the third tower, he teleports again and blows it up. Finally, without going up the hill, the "clear the beach" objective starts and you can kill the few Krait and the 1 enemy on the ramp up the hill. You can ignore the big guys entirely, quest done, took less than 5 minutes like this.

It's important to run up to the portal as quick as possible after winning the boss fight, don't wait for the talk. The talk causes the game to crash.

I ended up having to keep a friend in the party and have them wait around, as long as I was in a party and leading, I didn't get disconnected. I also used the 32bit version again, I swear it runs smoother.

I've tried 7 time already for the last month. 6 times I got disconnected as I beat Balthazar. The 7th the white birds never showed up and the instance got stuck. Is there actually a way through this story? A trick to it? I've tried repair, I've tried the 32bit client, and I've verified there is nothing wrong with my internet as I've been disconnect while another playing in the house has kept going without trouble, and it always disconnects in the exact same spot for The Departing.
My computer is a 4790k and a NV 970. I'm on Windows 10 Anniversary update, and NV driver version 381.65

I've tried over and over and over, I cannot get past the point where balth knocks you down and you die.
One time I got past that with the help of someone else being in my party (why does that make a difference?) and it instead glitched out in the afterlife. This whole story instance is screwed. And today, I am disconnecting in every story instance while trying to help my GF. I am getting ready to want a refund, the game is completely broken.
I've tried repair, the 32 bit client, maxing and min'ing my graphics card, everything. It's just broken.

I kind of miss the original story conversations style. With the watermark paintings and the close ups of the characters. That seems to be the only time we ever see the high resolution model of our character.
