Some of it doesn't fit the name, and I have heat I levels for each skill, which I thought was missing (seriously our elite pulses burn but isn't a fire field?) I also felt like laser disk deserved to have a finisher attached to it. Also, I want all exceed skills to have an over 100 effect.

  2. So pretty much all of the skills in the holosmith's arsenal are for his/her own use. Here's some ideas to make holosmith more viable in a group setting.

Crystal configuration: Eclipse: Add nearby allies gain 50% of the barrier you receive.

Crystal configuration Zephyr: Hololeap leaves behind a holographic pad which gives allies superspeed and removes movement impairing conditions. Enemies which step on it are crippled.

Coolant blast. New functionality: Heal yourself and chill enemies within 240 radius. Above 50% heat, also heal allies and increase radius to 360 radius, above 100 heat, create ice field centered on the engineer, radius 360, and an explosion which is a blast finisher.

For the toolbelt, change cauterize to Cauterization Field. Centered on the caster, remove one condition from each ally within a 240 radius (max 5). For each condition removed (max 5), apply one stack of burning for 5 seconds. This skill recharges 5% faster for each condition removed. If activated above 50 heat, increase radius to 360, and burning duration by 2 seconds; the skill recharges 7%/10% faster (WvW/PvP)/(PvE) for each condition removed. If activated above 100 heat, gain fire shield when this skill is activated and increase radius to 480. This skill does not remove burning.

Spectrum Shield: I'll leave it as the only stun break it has, maybe add an additional 25% CD reduction above 100% heat.

Flash spark: No change below 50 heat. Above 50 heat, light aura to yourself and allies in 240 radius. Above 100 heat, increase light aura duration, remove a condition, and create a light field. Increase cast time by 1/4s

Hard light arena: Below 50 heat enemies entering or leaving the arena without stability will be crippled, above 50 heat enemies entering or leaving the arena will be knocked back, above 100 heat, add 1 stack of might per pulse.

Laser disk: This skill now lasts 10 seconds below 50 heat, dealing damage each second to enemies within 180 radius. If activated above 50% heat, it now deals 1 stack of bleed for 2 seconds every second, with a 50% chance for a whirl finisher per pulse. If activated above 100 heat, it deals 1 stack of bleed per half second, with guaranteed whirl finisher.

Photon Wall: Increase the distance between the engineer and the wall. Above 50 heat, increase radius to 180 degrees. Above 100 heat, increase wall radius to 360 degrees. For sequence skill, if above 100 heat, increase wall speed, and wall explosions are unblockable.

Particle Accelerator: Add above 100% heat now penetrates targets, giving superspeed to allies and knocking back enemies.

Prime light beam: Add above 100 heat, prime light beam fires 33% faster and leaves behind a fire field.

  3. I'd say swap out explosives for tools, 313, Change inventions up 131, and swap rifle for pistol and shield. For the empty slot, I'd say toolkit, as crowbar can really ruin your day, and you have an extra block, should you need it. You can also swap out elixir u for elixir gun, gaining a stunbreak on a shorter cooldown, and basically be the king of protection with skill 2 and skill 5.

  4. As a history lesson, way back in the early days of GW2, the 5 specializations of core classes existed as trait lines, and you had points you could put into these trait lines, some in all 5 once if you wanted. One of the traits was called Acidic Elixirs, and it damaged and removed a boon from enemies in thrown elixirs; it also counted elixir gun 5 for this, making it a very versatile kit, as it can be used for both offense and support very well. When the switch was made to specializations, it got scrapped.

I'd like to see it return,as it will improve build diversity, and give engineers more of a boon strip role,as well as support.

My point is, the damage you take is based on your toughness VS your opponent's damage. With conditions, you don't have that ratio to mitigate condition damage. The condition caps are so that you don't get hit with 50 stacks of bleed, 30 of confusion, and 25 of burning, and you go down in one tick.

Because of the direct damage calculation, I don't think that is necessary.

  8. I have an idea: in wvw, there's a cap on the conditions you can have. Say 25 for bleeding, poison, Confusion, torment, 15 for burning since it ticks so high, and a max duration of 30 seconds for all conditions.

In all game modes, toughness reduces incoming condition damage, up to 40% for wvw, 30% for pvp, 60% for pve.

Crafting isn't useless. The armor professions allow you to craft bags with special properties. The weapon professions each allow you to craft "utility items" (sharpening stones for weaponsmith, maintenence oil for huntsman, potions/crystals for artificer) which convert 2 stats into another based on a percentage. Scribe allows you to craft stuff for your guild, and writs which get you a bonus when you are above a certain health threshold. All of these utilities give you a 10% experience bonus, some may give you karma as well. Cook gives you a ton of food buffs, which also give experience and some also give karma bonus. Jeweler allows you to make trinkets and universal upgrades.

    > why on earth would you use coolant blast with buffed burn duration? unless you're resigned to never use cauterize. imo med kit is the best heal for any engi build.

Cauterize always applies 3 seconds of fire damage per condi, without your condition damage modifier.

  11. Being hard cc'd while stealth pulls you out, but doesn't reveal you (unless you were hit by an engineer with the trait to reveal you) Stealth should be lost on dodge, dash, or any other movement action other than running. This prevents them from evading revealing skills. Sorry daredevil, but you traded in stealth for evasion.

When gaining stealth in a field, it functions similar to shadow refuge where if up walk out before the field. This will give the enemy a window to drop an aoe. Use smoke fields out of line of sight of the enemy.

Finally, that stupid deadeye skill which stealths you and removes reveal needs a rework.

I'm only suggesting that me remove them from some reward tracks. There are other ways to get spirit shards You still get tomes from dailies. 3 of them. Not to mention you get them from login rewards.

  13. > @"DemonSeed.3528" said:

    > I still think they should be available in all reward tracks though, people are doing them for specific reasons I suppose and we shouldn't halt them from trying to level up/acquiring tomes just because they didn't choose a particular track.

    > I suppose they can have a option check mark for "I don't want tomes" maybe?

Like a check box for "Enable Tomes of Knowledge" when you activate a reward track? If you uncheck it, you get blueprints instead.

Login rewards? If they are ftp, they only have one alt slot, so leveling alts probably isn't on the top of their minds.

    > I don't think they should be removed, people still need them for alts and shards - in any case they should make them tradeable for something else that is useful and won't wreck economy. I don't think we need another gobbler though, depends.

I'm not saying they should be removed entirely, just from reward tracks where we're sick of them(living world tracks). Chances are that you want a shipment of mats over yet another spirit shard. If yousstill want them, you can find them in the dungeon reward tracks, gift of battle, and all non-repeatable tracks.

Sorry right now I'm working on frigate for The HMS Divinity. I need elder wood and mithril ore for the stupid shards of war. Because walking around shooting people in the face with cannonballs from a handheld naval ship sounds so cool.

You use them for spirit shards at level 80 which are used to make legendary/ascended stuff, material promotion, but we just get flooded with them. 3 spirit shards a day for dailies, plus some as a login bonus if you paid for the game. I think I'm somewhere north of 2k shards.

I think that's taking it a bit too far in the reward tracks. You can already get wxp from leveling up, but they give it to you instead of gear. If you look at the PvP reward tracks, where they get stuff, we get tomes of knowledge.

With engineer, rocket boots, slick shoes and a smoke field and you're disengaged as in gone; especially with gadgeteer.

I laugh when I throw up my photon wall (reflects projectiles above 50 heat) and rangers knock themselves back with a longbow shot, then kill themselves with their own arrows when they rapid fire.

  20. Seriously, I don't need them every time I increase in rank, and a bunch of times in my reward track when I could have gotten better stuff, like a mat shipment, or a champ bag. Could they remove tomes from most of the reward tracks (keep them in the non-repeatable, gift of battle, and dungeon, since the last two you'll need a good deal of spirit shards for, and if you're a new player chances are you are going to do the non-repeatable tracks.)

Where the Tomes were, put something actually useful.

  21. The downed penalty is fair. It encourages you to stay alive. Each point lasts for 60 seconds, taking - 25% from your downed health.

The death penalty is different. First armor is damaged (still works, just yellow) when all of your armor is damaged, it breaks and stops working. All you need to do is stop by an anvil or repair vendor and they'll repair it for free. In Wvw, there is usually one near a wp to respawn.
