The problem is that the points depend on the rank of you, the people in your team and the opposite team. This makes it very hard to understand. So if you are platinum and play with legendary player against bronze players you will get not many points if you win, but will lose a lot if you are losing. On the other hand, if you are playing with bronze players against legendary players and win, you will get a lot of points, but losing wont lose that many points. An additional information about how much rank different where in your match would be a good way to understand the points, but this isn't in the game.
