Unnaturally Tall Charr: Grothmar Valley

Is it just me or are some of the Charr in Grothmar Valley way to big? I choose near max height for my Charr and Head Chef Mellitus still towers over me.

those be the charr from sandswept isle map they get usually tall for battles

The real answer is that Charr and Norn are both meant to be much larger than Humans, but the player character's model is restricted so that they fit through all the doors and passageways in the game, something most NPCs don't have to worry about.

 

(And lore-wise, you're just a cub.. even if you chose the faces that look like you're about to retire.)

From what I've seen though Anet usually puts the slider on the low end for Norn NPCs. I honestly mistake female Norn NPCs for humans all the time. I don't know why they do that.

Anet probably made him larger so he doesn't get lost in the crowd during his event. It's probably not representative of his actual size in lore.

Important NPCs tend to be sized up, especially for recurring events. It's inconsistently applied probably like @"Fjaeldmark.9043" said, for visibility. It's a mechanics/gameplay thing. Not lore related.

I saw some tall cats, arms crossed, waiting for the mob at Wolfs crossing. I was impressed by their confidence. I’m also happy for the Elite Level mobs without defiance bars so they live long enough for CC to matter.

Strong mobs get bigger in proportion to their strength, which is why you can get 30 foot humans, sylvari and Asura.
