WvW mortars cannons right now are useless

Siege bunker ability makes siege weapons pointless, the weapons have such a slow attack they don't even need to be dodged just need to keep moving to be missed by them .

The mortar fired at a target at its maximum distance seems to either run out of animation before the round hits the ground or it just doesn't register the hits at maximum range.

Nah I rather not see an anti personnel mortar, and a zerg obliterating cannon. They are strong enough to make people not want to fight under them. Imo that's what cannons should be - a reliable support for groups fighting under it, not a 1(on cannon)v5 killing machine

 

They are also great anti siege weapons for noobs who don't kill it or zerglings without bubbles

The thing with cannons and mortars is that they are stationary and can the invaders can just aoe them to death. If the defenders have the same amount of players as the attacker canons and mortars are more useful. If defenders are outnumbered the attackers can just stack and destroy all your siege first.

 

IMO they should let the player using the cannon to be further from it. This allows the cannon operate it even if it is fully covered with aoe.

Seriously, there is a topic complaining that players should feel like they are doing more while siege hugging and even someone saying that the user of said seige should be able to be positioned from harm. How about learning to fight opponents and not just sitting on siege. Siege (outside of AC's) are there to help take fortified structures or destroy other siege. Nothing more annoying and sad than walking up to a keep or tower with a few guys where there are 8 AC's, 2 cannons, mortars and at least half of them being manned. And you wonder why siege bunkering builds (like burn block guards) became popular?

I usually use siege when there are two or three of us defending a T3 tower or the keep until a commander can get there with a fighting force. And it works great for that. So I think it is working as intended?

Mortars, very useful.

Cannons, situational, but can be extremely useful or a waste of supply.

Oil, useless in every situation.

 

I wish there were choices that could be made by the keep/tower owner. Tower gets 1 cannon and 1 mortar, tower claimer gets to choose the location of where they go once available (tower upgrades). /shrug

Oil works well for me a lot of times for mindless blobbing karma train groups. Or just groups not large enough to imediately destroy it, or even to delay ram dropping before building up another siege or calling for help.

Because it is impossible to fight the pvd blobs at off-hours with a skeleton crew? I'm pretty sure you are aware you cannot win 3v30+

Because they are not a decoration and that's their job too drive off attackers when you're out numbered and would otherwise be killed also.
