Erasculio.2914
In Path of Fire and the first episode of the Living World season 4, there are a lot of throw backs to the original Guild Wars. It has led to some interesting nostalgia-filled conversations in the Istan map chat. However, it has left me wondering - how many GW2 players have played the original game? Previous polls were mostly a matter of "yes" or "no", but I think those didn't really see the players who just touched the surface of the original Guild Wars, realized they didn't like the game and then stopped playing. Many of those also wouldn't get all the references to the first GW despite technically having played it, so I have added an option specifically for them. TheOrlyFactor.8341
I tried it for a bit but the gameplay turned me away. It just wasn't for me.
Gabbynot.2654
played from when it came out still playing today . and still enjoy it
Danikat.8537
I was late starting, I got it shortly after Factions was released (but started with Prophecies because my brother had it and I wanted to be able to play with him) but I love that game and played it for thousands of hours, although I never did finish everything in it. I still play it periodically but not nearly as much as I used to - I find myself missing too many of the things added in GW2.
Vayne.8563
Came to it late, from WoW. Played it for about six years, 15,000 hours or so. Still jump in from time to time for nostalgia purposes or to help guldies get points for their HoM.
Noa.7490
Yup. Since May 2005 and got all expansions. I have wonderful memories of playing the game and still have many, many screenshots in my archives. Managed to cram 32 points into my Hall of Monuments. DearlyMe.5320
Haven't but plan to. I didn't know the friend who introduced me to 2 back than.
Ayumi Spender.1082
I haven't, but I don't really have a way of playing it. Don't have excess money for it and I'm sure the controls will be much harder to adapt to a gamepad unlike GW2.
Zedek.8932
I remember joking about the name of it a bit and the font looked weird, like another Prince of Persia. Also skipped GW2, even though the entire artwork is much, much more appealing. Learned later about GW2 and, well, here I am, the one and only MMORPG for me. Also, not sure if I would ever played GW or liked it, since the Asura are so close yet so far: **UNPLAYABLE**... Excelsior.
Wizler.8192
My friends at work tried to get me into WoW but I chose Guild Wars instead. I liked the box art and I thought pre-searing Ascalon was simply beautiful. Oh the horror when I jumped forward in time and my beloved Ascalon was a hardly-recognizable wasteland! My friends tried GW and didn't like it but I stuck with it. I didn't play a ton but I did finish all campaigns on my Elementalist main. I did later play WoW and enjoyed that as well. Maizan.8516
I wish I had gotten into it. I got it not to long after it was released but I think I was turned off by everything being instanced outside the cities. With my love for gw2 I would like to go back in and give it a go if I can find my install disk.
Sir Vincent III.1286
I played all Stand Alone (Prop, Fact, and Night), EotN expac, Bonus Mission packs, and 31/50 in HoM. So yes, a lot.

You can semi-play as Vekk if you micro your heroes.

Ariurotl.3718
Nope. I have to go to the wiki for all the fanservicey references, such as half of the Revenant legends.

Inculpatus cedo.9234
Started playing shortly after the release of Prophesies; played Factions, Nightfall, Bonus Mission pack, Eye of the North, Guild Wars Beyond...everything. Over 7000 hours and, alas, only 35 Hall of Monument points. It's a wonderful game, and I have many, many fond memories. Thank you, ArenaNet. :)
ArenaNet Staff Gaile Gray.6029 Posted December 1, 2017 ArenaNet Staff Share Posted December 1, 2017 Since all we had was a warrior, pet death was permanent, there were no bows, and the "map" looked like 8-bit. :) I think that was 2002.
Zephiera.9804
From the original beta, through all expansions, and still playing every now and again when I'm feeling nostalgic. In fact, I was actually on it the past couple of days with my one remaining "Pre-Searing" character....
JustTrogdor.7892
Never played it. In fact I never heard of it until I started playing GW2. I only found GW2 because I had some down time and decided to look for an MMO to play with decent reviews. I had to search around to find it and decided to give GW2 a shot. Wolfheart.7483
I bought the collector's edition when it first came out and have loved the franchise since that day.
Witch of Doom.5739
I will never forget the feeling I had when exploring Ascalon, thought it was the prettiest game world I'd ever seen. Then the Searing happened and I literally wanted to cry. So, yep, played it a lot, bought all the add-on discs and manuals, too. My prize GW possession is the 2007 PCGamer special issue "Ultimate Guild Wars Guide." It's mostly artwork with a few articles like "The Secrets of Guild Wars 2 Revealed!" =)
