Small guilds need love. (Guild Mission Player Requirement)

Recommended Posts

In my search for answers as to why, I came across a recent poll regarding guild mission player requirements...

I would like to humbly request on behalf of small guilds that the player requirements for guild missions be adjusted or removed all together.

As things currently stand, two best friends using this game to stay in touch across country- can't make any progress because for whatever reason a third person isn't available most of the time. No matter how many tops stats or wins are earned in PvP, where most of our time is spent. Nothing will ever count.. As a guild leader It would be nice to just get the bank... To have to offer my guildmates. Something that in other games is far easier to acquire. At the moment small guilds (we have around a dozen members, but there are never more that a couple on at a time) seem to exist in name only. Tough seeing the skill present to accomplish these missions, and be denied the chance to because of the player# requirement.

Really... How many people do you need to escort a dolyak?

It feels like penalty to me, and I honestly think that is a mistake. I miss being able to contribute personally. It was a great feeling to go out on a solo op and still be able to contribute in some way to your guild (influence).

Thank you all for your time; see you in game :)

Switch your GMs to PvE. The easy PvE bounty mission is completely do-able with 1 or 2 people - it's going to be 1 of 3 bounties: Brekkabek in Harathi Hinterlands, Poobadoo in Kessex Hills, or Trilla Midwell down around Ebonhawke in Fields of Ruin. They can be solo'd, and if you call out in map chat, you'll get help. Easy guild trek: locate 5 spots within 10 or 15 minutes. That is also solo-able. Using the guide on Dulfy, I can normally finish all 5 locations in about half the available time. The easy race is a bit trickier, the key is finding some other guild running it - once you've complete it and enough people have crossed the line, you can claim credit for your guild using the other guild's finished runners, and do so without harming the other guild too. If you only get one GM a week, that's 4 weeks of doing an easy mission to get the 1000 favor you need for that guild bank. I know, because I've done it. I have a guild that has 3 members: Me, my brother, and my alt account. Now if there was just a way that I could get access to the 2 larger guild bank expansions without leveling a guild hall...

Well even with those you can invite people into your instances.

While I would certainly welcome any changes to lower the participant requirement of guild missions (ESPECIALLY the wvw ones), I have to say that I'm nearing a level 60 guild hall having done all the guild missions solo. The Easy PvE missions are easily doable with just one person. If you're lucky, you can get a race at the medium and hard difficulties that already have guilds completing them and you can piggy back off their mission in order to complete yours. Once you get the other missions of opportunity (the bottom 3), one of them might be the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle which is also super easy as it rewards a decent chunk of favor and only requires one person to complete.

Keep at it, I believe in you! :)

I agree with some that it is currently easy. But I also think the entire mission system is out of balance. Big guilds have the hall done in a second with the result that they never have an incentive to finish a mission (as long as the members get the personal rewards). One solution would be to make favor tradable between guilds. So when a guild hits max level, they unlock an NPC. This NPC will function as a favor bank. Any member of this guild (even those invited for the occasion), who represent a guild that is not max level, can buy favor for raw aetherium. Raw aetherium can be gained by mining in the mine yourself with orichalcum picks. You should need a good amount. E.g. 30 minutes mining for 100 favor. This raw aetherium can be used by the end tier guild to craft ascended guildhall decorations (so scribe lvl 500 is required). An example of these decorations could be the starry night city in desert highland. This should obvious not be easy to craft. So feel free to make recipes that require 50 gifts of exploration. This would do several things. First it encourages big guilds to help smaller guilds. It would give big guilds more options to stand out in looks. AND by adding e.g. gifts of explorations to the recipes, you encourage guilds to go exploring together in an organized way, or do wvw for 50 gifts of battle.

This helped me a lot; thank you.
