I don't know why A-net had to change what is the universal language. Just cause one or the other game does something, doesn't mean it is universal. I never played a game with intelligence. The wiki is a great help with any term. wiki.guildwars2.com Specifically this page: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Attribute Power: Increases outgoing direct damage. Precision: Increases Critical Chance. Toughness: Increases Armor. Vitality: Increases Health. Concentration: Increases Boon Duration. Condition Damage: Increases the damage done by inflicting conditions. Expertise: Increases Condition Duration. Ferocity: Increases Critical Damage. Healing Power: Increases all outgoing healing your character does, including self heals.
  2. none of these classes is "better". GW2 is very much play as you want. Both high end fractals and raids excluded, but that is not something you should aim for (low level fractals are another thing). I would suggest to play a class that suit you, not others, for the things you want to do. The question you should ask is what others like and why. 1: I started on a guardian and really enjoyed it. I never liked the dragonhunter and firebrand style though. So then I decided to switch. But what I liked was the hands on combat. What I disliked is the focus on others and lack of solo play. 2: My second main has been an enigneer/holosmith. They are more glas cannon style then the guardian, but the rotations are lots of fun and provide very good and strong dps
  3. I agree the entire new game experience should be redefined, but not for the reasons mentioned. I think many things you are saying is from a specific perspective off how to play the game. (min/max and rotations). This is perfectly fine, but there are other things some others enjoy more. I would be very much for a second new game experience in EoD making it more like a campaign. So new levelling maps (maybe not as much as Central Tyria) and a new tutorial and a newly designed experience. What I would like is that they again add some choices for story and development, but make them not about class, but about what you like and make it fitting for that playstyle.
  4. I think I disagree with the simplicity of the content and there are very good counters. I would like to ask you if it is about the content being too simple, or are you helping them too much? In any case, the best way to counter is to go to levels above ones head.
  5. I disagree it was ever advertised as a side MMO. It is just an MMO you can take a break from. I think it is much more healthy then the games that require you to play to keep up and pay up your monthly fee every month. If it is a side game for you or your main is of no importance and thats a good thing. With the living world seasons to unlock for free it became a thing that it would be wise to keep the game installed and login once in a while to get the episodes for free, but that is all.

You have a Q/A department who gather and document bugs. they can fix some common bugs that are easy to fix. In many cases the bug fix is done by the department that created the content. I do not think a lot of crunching happen at Arenanet, but when a release approaches the focus will be more and more on the deadline and less on existing content. Obviouly, after the release there is more room to fix all bugs, old and new. > > Could you provide sources for this? A lot/all of what you're saying just sounds like speculation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITIL

  8. It depends a lot on how much you want to be spoiled. If you have the appropiate xpac there is a backdoor to get there without doing anything of the story. You do experience the maps though. To get the elite specialisations you need tons of hero points. You need to do the hero points in those maps. To get there through the backdoor there are two methods. 1: a guild with a hall in HoT for HoT or in PoF for PoF. Make sure you find the exit portal in the hall and you are in a map in the xpac. 2: Travel to a friend You can often use herotrains (group of players who advertise as such in the LFG tool) to get those heropoints relativly easy. Many can be done solo however. However, besides the elite specialisations you likely also want basic gliding and atleast one mount. To do so you need to start the stories before hand. I would recommend 1: main story till level 80 2: PoF first story for mount 3: HoT first storysteps untill glider unlock 4: get the heropoints for the elite specialisations 5: Finish main story except the last instance 6: do all story instances for the dungeons (people tend to skip this and they offer a lot of extra story to the main story line) 7: finish the main story 8: LW s1 recap 9: LW s2 10: HoT 11: LWs3 12: PoF 13: LWs4 14: IcebroodSaga 15 EoD??
  9. There are two paths 1: give gw1 a visual update/remake but keep the mechanics as they are now. I fail to see how this would work well the lack of open world will not be what people will bring back and it will still be outdated. 2: recreate gw1 within GW2. I fail to see how this would work out either there are reasons for people sticking to gw1. Another smaller option would be recreating specific elements. Like the raid in the underworld. I have no objection here.
  10. It is not Arenanet's style to hype and announce things so far ahead of time. They prefer to have it ready when it is ready and start hyping when they know they can deliver. Specially with PoF this was the case. The living world season ended with a teaser for an announcement just one or twee weeks later. Then the expansion was released just less then two months later. The real question is why they announced EoD a year ago. The answer is that after the lay offs and reforming the company, initially the statement was that there was no plan on an expansion. After the dust settled and the player base roared, this was changed. To prevent any confusion as the statement was that there would be no expansion they made an announcement.
  11. You asume they do not act on the report, while in reality all reports are being looked into. However not always the way you think. Keep in mind the report function is not to get a personal revenche. It is to report a situation you do not want to encounter in the game and is in your opinion a breach of the rules. However, for you it is impossible to determine wheter or not it really is a breach of the rules and it really is the GM's who makes such a determination. While doing this they want to ensure that it is done fair and that breaches no longer happen. Bad people do bad things. Often using stolen accounts and bypassing rules with third party software. To ensure that the rules are hard to bypass, the detection methods are secret. Also, they often do not take immediate action to hide what behaviour got them busted. A good example is when you see someone breaking the rules. If they are banned within 5 minutes afterwards they know exactly how they where reported and for what action. But if they wait and observe for a while they can see the entire behaviour and check the severity of the breach. They also can take more appropiate action while not giving away what got them busted.
  12. anytime a new MMO comes out with a decent marketing that looks cool we get a lot of posts and people saying that it will kill GW2. So far none have done that. GW2 is unique and has a steady base of customers. They do not need to hype things up so far ahead. In the past they did it too much and couldn't deliver on the promises. I am certain that once champions is concluded, we will start hearing more about EoD.

Nobody bats an eye when it's about a zweihander, a rapier or even a effing candelabra as it should be. But somehow it's an outrage when it touches katanas. > > It would be nice if games with a variety of swords (and other weapon types) could do different animations to suit the different types of sword, but I think it would be a lot of work for minimal benefit. Especially in a game like GW2 where you've got 5 different races, and each profession that can use swords generally has different animations for their attacks as well, so it's not just 1 set of animations but up to 45 of them (if all 9 professions get swords eventually). Given that you can't really spend a lot of time in combat watching your character and there's no guarantee most players will even use a katana style sword skin (especially while they're only available from the gem store) I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. > > It sometimes bothers me in single-player games without a character creator where there's just 1 character to animate, but even then it depends on the game. Breath of the Wild for example I think should have done it, because they even have descriptions stating that different swords need different techniques and that some double-sided ones were created to accommodate soldiers unfamiliar with single-sided katana style swords...but they all work the same anyway. Plus it would make the massive variety of swords in that game feel more justified. > > One option - going back to GW2 - could be to sell the animations in the gem store alongside the skins, but I'm not sure how players would react to that, especially since I suspect the animations would make it much more expensive. I was personally thinking about an elite specification that adds such a fighting style for the skills and weapontype of that elite specification. It is still up to the player to equip a skin fitting to the animation.
  14. I think the main issue with any japanese style sword added to the game is that the combat itself is not based on japanese combat styles and those kind of swords are based on precise that. Why isn't there an upcoming expansion with an asian theme to introduce combat styles like japanese sword fighting styles?? Wait!!
  15. GW2 has one of the best under water systems, both with combat, movement and scenery. Shortly after launch they also saw the limitations. Being underwater adds a dimension that works not so well on a flat screen. It makes fighting and navigating hard and for some even nauseous. An underwater PvP combat map was removed for this reason. Underwater is nice, but it should always be something additional and never the main part of an expansion.
