Oglaf.1074
Because honestly, the current selection of available dyes for this slot is very lackluster and it would be great to be able to dye it with any dye of your choice. Plus, it would allow you to match it with your armour setup, too - that has always been a pet peeve of mine. Like I would love to get the big bow hairystyle that Taimi has but I just can't find a way to match it with my armour...
Inculpatus cedo.9234
Well, the Devs _did_ expand the choices. Perhaps, one day, they will expand the choices further. Good luck.

Well, because the extra choices are all wrong, but it feels like because there are now seventy three and a half times as many choices, one of them should be what you want, but none of them actually is that exact shade of ecru-chartreuse that you want, and therefore even that one that was almost good enough three months ago is now a horrible mismatch. Or the one that's just barely close enough goes a funny colour at night in Diessa Plateau and triggers your migraines.

Increased sample size _increases_ the odds of finding something you're happy with. Ergo, it is not true.

Psychology and basic mathematics aren't the same. It may seem like more options are good, but the reality of it is it can have the complete opposite effect due to how humans are. Too many options will cause people to go with an option they aren't satisfied with, of course in terms of games that's not always a bad thing, as it means people spend money to change their characters again, although it has to be balanced. You're saying the idea of more choices is bad is false because more choices means the probability of you liking something increases, and I am saying that isn't true because human beings aren't a simple mathematical equation. The average person will be likely to pick a color they don't actually like if excessive options are available; and hair/hair accessory color isn't something that is changed freely like armor/outfit color. To simplify further, I was agreeing with "The more you have choice. The less you will find the one you want", it's been studied and shown to be true for various reason. Illconceived Was Na.9781
I'm not against the idea; I just think it's among the lowest of priorities. There are all sorts of other cosmetic changes I'd rather see the design/engineering teams tackle first.

I’m saying that arguing against the idea of more options because you think it would somehow fry people’s brains because... reason? It is utterly moronic of a notion! Also here is the kicker: it is a dye **slot**! You can pick as many times as you want! Jesus H Christ on a pogostick...
Inculpatus cedo.9234
It's not an always-available dye slot at this time. It's only available at either character creation, or with a Hair Style or Total Makeover kit.

It's only available at either character creation, or with a Hair Style or Total Makeover kit. That is precisely what this thread is suggesting. Currently hair accessory dye is a one-time choice when creating your character or using a hair kit. OP suggests it become an in-game dye slot so that could update it to match our armor or outfit as needed (with the added bonus of having an immensely greater selection of dyes to choose from). Really? I did not see (and do not) see that in the suggestion. What I see is adding more (all) dyes to the current selection area. I'm not sure how _your_ interpretation would work, as hair accessories are not armor pieces that fit in the head slots.
