Heimdallr.5421
Hi guys, Wanted to know what is the reason that necro is condi or no necro at all? All say that constantly. I get the condi idea and how strong it is but, 'power necro is dead' - why? did the game change some mechanics and for some reason crit shroud/reaper is worse than dunno, crit ranger? Was thinking about something simple - max out power, crit and crit dmg>shieeetloads of crits on targets, you know, crit is nice dmg. At the moment, poorly geared, but these crits+reaper 4th skill looks really awesome
Sephylon.4938
Last I recall, someone clocked power reaper's best possible dps to be around 27-28k. Condi necro builds clock in around 29k. Every other dps class clocks in between 30-40+ while offering boon support, unique buffs, minor amounts of healingfor the group, and stealth(when applicable). Rhyse.8179
The only two viable power weapons are Axe and Greatsword, both of which have various problems. Axe has no cleave, and GS does very low sustained DPS.
Justine.6351
Some people run power reaper in wvw currently but there are other classes that do power builds better. Also one thing necro does best is boon corruption and since necros get hit alot they can get pigeonholed into condi bunker.
Anchoku.8142
Power Reaper does quite well in PvE open world event chains, particularly tower defense type events having steady streams of trash mobs. The constant LF generation and cleave/AoE work very well together to sustain fairly good dps over long periods. Against bosses with no add's, sustain (LF gen) drops dramatically and the cleave looses its dps scaling. Also, the powerful AoE debuff capabilities are reduced to a simple break bar mechanic so Reaper effectively has its tankiness nerfed and teeth pulled. Merlin Dyfed Avalon.5046
Let's say it like this.. If you want some extra handicaps bc pvp game too easy.. play power reaper.
DeceiverX.8361
There's really just no reason to. If there's any degree of competition, power necro is just a worse version of something that literally any other class or build (condi) can do. Also, the powerful AoE debuff capabilities are reduced to a simple break bar mechanic so Reaper effectively has its tankiness nerfed and teeth pulled. As soon as it gets to "boss"fights, reaper gets almost useless. If you get hit once while in shroud, your shroud is gone and due to the lack of defense, the next attack might down you.
