Leveling boosted characters.

I'm returning to GW2. I purchased PoF and got the character boost. I'm confused on how to level after 80. I max out my xp bar and nothing happens. I try to complete the story line but the content is too hard for my character or the way I play. I keep dying. So I don't see how I'm supposed to level. Is it the Mastery Points? If so how do I get them?

You need to full one of ur mastery line with XP and use needed amount of masterypoints to "activate" it. Then you earn as many lvls as mastery points used.

BUT lvl after 80 doesent make you any stronger, so story progression is l2p issue.

Mastery points can be earned in all 3 of the areas for their own stream eg Core map (red), HOT (green) and purple (POF)

Thus you actually also have 3 xp streams - you earn depending which area you are in. Once you earned enough to learn a mastery you need to activate it (as long as you have enough mastery points for that level). If you max xp but cant spend it then any additional xp for that stream is ignore aka lost.

If you learn all the masteries then the excess xp will sill go into Spirit shards
