TheQuickFox.3826
GW2 is updating it's GW2.dat file all the time, and over time a lot of character model additions have been added to the game. (Like new hairstyles etc.) Also, completely new character models are technically possible, like a new playable race. It remains to be seen if this ever will be part of an expansion. The 32-bit version of Guild Wars 2 may run into OS/System memory limitations however, therefore there also is a x86-64 (64 bit) client.
Danikat.8537
Are you sure the person who told you this was actually an Anet staff member? (If they were in-game they should have had the Anet logo after their name.) As TheQuickFox said they update the .dat file all the time, and it has increased in size since launch and almost certainly will again so it seems highly unlikely that would prevent them updating character models. On a separate note what kind of updates are you hoping for? They've added new customisation options like hair styles and colours every so often and may add more in future. Bigger changes like increasing the detail or letting you design your own hair styles like some games do are unlikely, but I don't see why the .dat file size would prevent it happening.
