Jimbru.6014
As I said before in other threads about the beetle, give them time on the usefulness. Right now we just have this one zone, and they're still sorting out bugs from the patch. You can safely bet that future LS4 maps will have uses for the beetle. Discobizkit.6531
The beetle is literally one of the most fun mounts to have in between events. It may not have the utility of the other mounts but finding jumps in core Tyria and HOT is my new favorite past time :-)
Dreamy Lu.3865
To my eyes, beetle is a cute mount and I like it much, but it has very limited use, and I have already stopped using it. For me, there are two types of mounts: The ones for daily use and the ones for sporadic specific use. My daily mounts are raptors, springer and skimmer. With them, I feel at ease and can manage everything. I use the other ones for specific tasks only: - Griffon to cover long distances over areas with lot of foes, because it allows safe travelling: That's once in a while (as I am not good at managing precise landing, I don't use it for else). - Jackal when I need to use a sand portal: That's very rare. - Beetle to go through the walls having a poi behind, to allow area completion. As I am done with that, it will probably be never from now on. Note that I don't race (due to motion sickness). so for me, how good is a mount at racing has no influence. Finally, to answer OP question about it being worth it or not: Since we don't pay for it, I believe the answer is yes, go for it. I mean, it is really a cute mount, funny, and it does not cost anything else than a bit of your time. As a matter of fact, it is even the opposite: Since it makes you do several big events to complete the collections, you earn rewards out of doing the collections. :)
