Automated Tournament Backend Changes Take 2

Hey everyone!

 

We've just deployed a major change to how tournaments work on the back end. Theoretically, you should not notice any difference in a typical tournament. We'll be closely monitoring tournaments today to make sure nothing breaks, but please let us know if you do notice anything strange!

 

The changes are as follows:

* Automated Tournament registrations are now uncapped. Previously, we had a limit of 100 teams. This was to support special tournaments, which could end up with much higher participation than the average tournament. One additional note for this, only the top 100 teams, based on standing will be displayed in the UI. This may change in the future.

* Laying the groundwork for swiss tournaments.

* General tournament stability improvements.

We've encountered one issue with registration that might be affecting some people if they were logged in before we deployed the server change. It makes them unable to enroll in a tournament. Fortunately, the work around is easy. Completely close the client and restart it and you should be able to enroll.

Tournament info is outta whack. 7 teams register, they're in "round 1". Teams that passed are also shown on eliminated list.

Technically seems to work fine, just the info displayed is bonkers.

Kicked out of tournament a third time, missing 50+ gold, should I stop playing these tournaments? If they do not work then why are they open for registration, kicked out in finals again with absolutely no compensation. Please prevent people from wasting their time if these are clearly not working.

Looks like there are more bugs to figure out. We've reverted back to the old system again. Thanks for your patience. We'll let you all know when we're ready to try again!

The tournaments this morning seemed to run ok for the most part. Mostly display issues, as you noticed. The evening tournaments encountered some bigger issues though.

We've narrowed down the display issues. Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to get a fix out for them right away. The good news is that the tournaments seem to be functioning normally. The match history is just going to be nonsensical until we get a fix in.
