How can I play with my friends on BG if the server never opens.

BG is MANUALLY LOCKED by Anet, it has nothing to do with our pop. When we dropped down to T3 after the most recent server relinks we had about 28k as pop, which is HALF the pop of the main servers with a link. So please keep telling servers they open up by decreasing pop, JQ tried it with a blackout in WvW and they failed. BG has high activity and low pop. We queue maybe 1-2 maps on reset night, and are up against servers that have about twice our pop. But you know players outside of BG that hate us because of seasons don't have an unbiased perspective. Anet won't open us because we are the poster child of what they want to prevent with the alliance changes coming in a year or more. So we deal with what we have, we deal with the salt from servers and players that judge us from our past and not our current state.

BG can do the same JQ did: all of them active players, move to a low pop server, and if that is closed, repeat. That worked for JQ, now they are open.

 

Also your "friends" would move to anywhere is open, together with you, if they really cared about playing together with you.

I love that bar graph because it's 7 months going on 8 months old at this point. So still entirely accurate.

It's really hard to believe there isn't one server out there that is not generating a queue on reset nights. Never said every other one is queuing 4, but there are more servers generating more map queues than BG on a regular basis.

Yes it's completely unbiased that 22 other servers can get an influx of new players because they can either freely transfer, or make a new account there. BG gets the same players for years. *shrugs*

BG still has over double the population of any other server. All one has to do is look at the numbers throughout reset night.

 

Wasn't BG also down in T3/T4 only a few weeks ago? Then week after week they outnumbered their opponents right back into T1? The numbers are there, and people going dormant for a few weeks in order to get their server open or a link isn't going to work. The only way BG will ever open or get a link, is they likely are going to hit T4 and remain in dead last place for 10-12 months at minimum. By then though, hopefully alliances will have made their debut.

 

All this is, is a case of players wanting overwhelming numbers to win, which is exactly why BG over-stacked themselves to begin with. It seems the general mentality of the players on that server is they want to outnumber people so they never lose.

 

In answer to your question OP, the only option you have is your friends need to leave the BG server to join you. BG will never open up, nor will they get a link.

Where are you getting this 28k number? If it's from "activity" on one of the wvw stats sites, then that is literally kills + deaths. I think most would agree that is a flawed approximation of activity at best. On top of that, you are excluding the very important fact that BG is one server where those activity numbers are all multiple server links. JQ tried it and succeeded. They were open temporarily, stacked again, got closed again, and all left. About queuing 1-2 maps on reset, that describes most server **pairings** as well. Even though I mentioned its flaws, say BG is "28k" population, whatever that is. Using SBI as an example, it has "34k" right now. But that's not just SBI. That's SBI + DB. If it were just SBI it would probably be around "17k". So it's still entirely possible that BG can have lower activity than most links, but still be the biggest server. See how that works? Enough with the "Anet just hates us yet we still win because we're the feisty underdogs" mentality LOL. Get a grip.

They actually went down because on relink Friday Anet uses Glicko*RNG to create the matchups, and BG just happened to RNG down to tier 3. I don't think they would ever drop to tier 3 using 1 up/1 down. BG is more stacked now, at least in NA, I don't know if they got transfers in off hours timezones.
