More to explore?

They are in no way the same maps. Map overlays of the 2 are proof alone that GW2 is not even using the same dimensions for places that haven’t been redesigned for histroical reasons.

So regardless of where the story goes, they are making all new map asserts as they go along. With that in mind, we'll only see places that make sense from the perspective of thier story writers.

Except Cantha. We're never going back to Cantha......

Guild Wars had 3 campaigns, and one true expansion. If you count Factions and Nightfall as expansions, then Guild Wars has had 3 expansions in its lifetime. GW2 isn't far off. Also, Nightfall took place in Elona, which is part of the Tyrian continent, which we got to explore in Path of Fire.

Thats unfortunate being unable to revisit Cantha after its big pvp role in gw1. I hope Anet reconsiders it. I figure GW2 would primarily focus only on Tyria.

I definitely count Factions and Nightfall as expansions considering both expansions added two new classes, about 10 more skills per class and new territories with its own lore.

Thats also very good news to hear Path of Fire revisits Elona -- I did not buy it or follow anything pertaining to it.

Im beginning to read the Guild Wars novels because I particularly dislike the direction the world has shaped over 200 years. Im very surprised that Glint or Gwen played little to no roles after the Guild Wars 1.

Maybe give the forums' search function a whirl. There have been many threads on the possibility of Cantha (and reasons for ANet not doing it, too).

Kamadan (and part of Istan) is already in the game - it was the setting for the first episode of Season 4 of the Living Story. The Far Shiverpeaks is currently off-limits to Jormag, but we might well go there one day to fight him (or after we've found another way to deal with him). Same with Cantha, it's not in the game now and inaccessible due to the Deep Sea Dragon, but all that's really stopping us is Anet haven't chosen to set a story there yet, when they want to they'll be able to find a way for us to get there.

They currently add 1 new map with each living story release (so about every 3 months) and more when there's an expansion so the map is slowing being filled in. We don't know where we'll be going next, but it's likely that sooner or later we'll revisit all the places we saw in GW1, and potentially some we've never been to before. We've got a few, relatively small, new place already - like Bloodtide Coast, Dragon's Stand and Sandswept Isles, and all of Orr of course.

Maybe they didn't realize because it was renamed Palawadan?
