Ghastly Grinning shield

Recommended Posts

The street price is what's on the TP for all items that can be directly traded, with the sole exception being the few infusions that sell for over 10k (and that's only because the TP has a hard limit of 10k for offers).

There are two sources of the skin, both available on the TP:

https://www.gw2tp.com/search?name=ghastly

https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/tp/search?name=ghastly

* [The "skin only" version](https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/item/36339-Ghastly-Grinning-Shield-Skin) is listed as low as 1200 gold, with buy offers as high as 901 gold.

* [The "weapon" version went "out of stock" last week](https://www.gw2tp.com/item/36332-ghastly-grinning-shield). Historically, there have been 1-2 listed for as low as 1000-1500 gold in the last six months.

* [GW2 Economy, on Reddit](https://old.reddit.com/r/gw2economy)

* [GW2 Trading Exchange](https://old.reddit.com/r/gw2exchange), reddit's "grey market" for GW2

* [GW2 Economy Discord](https://discord.gg/D3JaTHn) (use `#marketplace` for trading, `#questions` for, well, questions)

_caveats: the only way to safely trade is via the TP. The 15% in fees is painful and yet is (a) good for the game (as a gold sink) and (b) small price to pay to guarantee your coin|items. While only a fraction of people trading player-to-player get scammed, ANet will not do anything if it happens to you._

Here's support [GL Dornsinger](https://old.reddit.com/user/Dornsinger)'s reminder about the dangers:

If an item was taken from you, but it was not destroyed or recovered from an account that received your item, then it is still in the game’s economy and we cannot make another for you. That would be duping by us and not something we can consider. We can and do action the account that defrauded you if our logs can prove that is what happened, but that may be only a small comfort for anyone who lost valuable items.

However, none of these can keep you perfectly safe. Scammers can make new accounts, or scrupulously take accounts from other users for their deeds. And while the customer support team will do anything possible at all to help, it may still be too late for the items you had wanted to trade.

Why make the distinction? The value to any but an ardent collector is the skin and there are so few collectors like that "street value" is whatever price the first one you can find is willing to pay.

Regardless, the links provided show the historical value and there was a sell listing as late ago as last week; the market will not have changed substantially in that time, since historically the TP supply has run from 0 to 3 and the sell listings have been around 1000-1500 throughout.

Mainly because, the shield itself is a discontinued item, in many other MMO's those were gaining a lot of worth as the time goes by. Even if they had no practical usage ( like partyhats in RuneScape for example) and thats why I wanted to know.

Thank you all for your effort, I appreciate it :)

Wardrobe unlock maybe? I know that's where I got this skin from.

It's not actually. It is a very rare drop from combining shields in the mystic forge.

Yes, that's true in this game, too. GGS (the weapon) just isn't one of those, which is why it has a TP price that (finally) mirrors the price of the skin.

Good reason :)

My apologies for not thinking of it.

Quite welcome.
