Dragon.8413
Hi, I'm a returning player that wants to know the current meta classes for end game pve content. I used to play ele but apparently it's not good anymore? So I'm stuck choosing a class that is good for raids. Mostly thinking about doing a dps class but open to tank/healing roles. Thanks
Henry.5713
Not sure where you have gotten that information from. Elementalists may not be utterly broken as they have been during certain patches in the past but they are in a pretty strong spot at the moment. Check snowcrows or mettabattle for builds. RaidsAreEasyAF.8652
As for DPS: DH, Firebrand, PChrono, Mirage -> Everything else. If you dont provide quickness you simply arent relevant in the current Meta. Mirage is pretty much the only exception. That being said, other classes like Ele will do the Job. If you dont join a group that aims for the best DPS you are fine playing whatever DPS you want. Most of them are pretty close anyway. So you are fine for every PUG group and most statics if you choose to join one.

Sapphire.3609
Great classes for both fractals and raids: * Power Dragonhunter * Power Sword Weaver * Heal Firebrand * Alacrity Renegade * Power Berserker (Banner Slave) Some classes that are meta in fractals but not necessarily a big part of the current raid meta: * Power Quickness Firebrand * Power Soulbeast Some classes that are meta in raids but not necessarily a big part of the current fractal meta: * Support Chronomancer * Heal Druid * Condition Damage Classes (Mirage, Firebrand, Renegade) * Power Daredevil * Power Chronomancer
Painbow.6059
The other answers on this thread really cover everything. Dragonhunter, Firebrand, and Renegade are three easy classes to pick up for raids that all deal good damage and are part of the meta, although other classes such as Mirage are certainly better for particular encounters, it should be noted however that Mirage takes time to get good at. Another worthy mention is Power Chronomancer, although it's not a build that will be utilised to its full potential in pug groups, as it works around stacking Power Chronomancers to share quickness and maintain slow with timewarp - essentially meaning you need less boon support. For fractals, Dragonhunter, Soulbeast, and Weaver are the strongest DPS classes due to burst/utility. In dungeons, it doesn't really matter too much, just something bursty and if you're running with more experienced players, providing a portal of sorts is useful. Lan Deathrider.5910
Power Berserker without banners, particularly in FotM, is also viable DPS. Otherwise the above listings are accurate including this one: > @"RaidsAreEasyAF.8652" said: > As for DPS: > DH, Firebrand, PChrono, Mirage -> Everything else. > If you dont provide quickness you simply arent relevant in the current Meta. So you are fine for every PUG group and most statics if you choose to join one. For FotM, play whatever DPS you want. Mobs die there so quick that it doesn't matter, even the bosses can be burned down quickly. Raids though there are DPS benchmarks that need to be hit for mechanics, so while most of the DPS are within a few thousand of each other (+/- 10% really) if the whole comp is on the lower end those DPS checks will be failed, hence the preference there for the higher DPS classes. So if you are looking for a Raiding class, look at Snowcrow's and find the class you like most that deals the higher end of DPS. For FotM, pick what class you like and max you DPS on it, be sure to bring some group utility as well.

There is not a single DPS check in the entire game that requires people to play Meta DPS classes. Well, except for maybe 0 Orb KC. But if you are in a group that can pull off 0 Orb KC you have the proper classes anyway.

That and there are raid groups that are known for kicking players for not having 'high' enough DPS without warning. I suppose the only 'DPS Check' that you really need to make is the Elitist DPS Check from their ArcDPS output

You should still play the meta dps build provided for your class.
