Warrior Longbow needs some help...

I mean the LB Warrior Kit compare to Ranger and Dragonhunter Longbow Kit is just weak and clunky. First they need to get rid of Arcing Arrow and put Pindown on it's place. Replace pindown with a channel skill similar to Barrage and Hunter's Ward but inflicts burning instead.

 

1. **Dual Shot** - no change.

2. Fan of Fire change to: **Incendiary Shot** 1/4c 6 CD

* Fire an arrow that can be donated.

* Now can be ground targeted in a line.

* Blast finisher

3. **Pindown** (moved from Slot 5) 3/4c 12 CD

* reduce bleed stack to 3 and base duration to 6s

* reduce immobilize duration to 1s

4. **Smoldering Arrow** - no change

5. Pindown change to: **Rain of Fire** 2 1/4c 30 CD

* Barrage the target area with a hail of arrows that Burn foes.

* Gives additional adrenaline per target hit.

 

SIDE NOTE: Looks like Rain of Fire was a skill at some point according to wiki.

Keep Fan of Fire, but tighten the cone and add 1 more arrow to it.

 

Keep the bleed stacks as they are on Pin Down, but reduce the duration to 6s. 1s immobilize is fine.

 

Smoldering Arrow: increase the radius of the effect to 240.

 

Rain of Fire... WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THIS?!

Make it 20s CD, **channel while being mobile**, 12 hits with a damage interval of 0.6s just like Barrage?

Split the burn Duration for PvE and WvW/PvP so its 4s/2s. I'm open to less duration in WvW/PvP but 2s _feels_ right.

I tried grieving longbow+dagger/shield spellbreaker in wvw and it was quite interesting,

but the speed of Combustive Shot and Arcing Arrow projectiles makes it less practical (especially in wvw), so increasing speed of those by like 20-30% would be nice.

I would change Arcing Arrow from blast finisher to field aoe, preferably poison aoe (there was suggestion of forums to call it something sulfur related, which sounds cool) for better synergies with certain runes (zephyrite rune that gives superspeed on successful leap finisher, etc). IMO Pin Down (as it is now) is good skill, it can catch people really well (with exceptions of those immobilize resistant builds...).

 

Rain of Fire sounds interesting, too. Burn condi variant of Barrage, could also cripple to have op synergy with Leg Specialist :)

If you want to replace Arcing Arrow with Pin Down that has reduced effects (thus doesn't really need big telegraph), I would also reduce cast time to 1/2 second.

Even on Power builds, Warrior Longbow is one of the strongest weapons in the game; too strong in some ways, too weak in others. Walking into the fire from it is almost certain death, but in 1v1 its hard to even hit someone with it.

 

I'd definitely support it getting some love, especially increased AoE delivery.

I like this idea.

 

After playing around with macebow zerker again the last few days I often wished I didn't need to be right inside the opposing player's model to get the most of it.

 

Other than that I don't mind LB the way it is (maybe other than the crack shot trait being somewhere else besides discipline), although to be fair I don't have the hours logged on warrior like a lot of the posters here do.

Yeah LB is weird in that to maximize its DPS you have to be at point blank range, which is stupid.

They either need to increase the burn on it, or add a larger variety of condis to it. I get that they wanted a fire themed weapon for the profession that is quintessential a mini Balthazar, but they went halfsies on it. There is already a power LB build on Ranger. DH and go either way (Yolo Justice). So lets must make our LB the dedicated Condi LB and drop the power.

 

For going full on Condi:

Increase the projectile speed on AA, make Burning default on AA, update crack shot so that LB has a 33% chance to cause 1s of burning on a crit.

Fan of Fire, add 1 more arrow along with burn on it. Tighten the cone so that at least 2 arrows will hit the same target at max range if the target is in the middle of the cone (I guess the spread would be 240 width at max range?).

Pin Down as suggested above, 12s cd 6 stacks of bleed for 6s, 1s immob.

Smoldering arrow, increase radius to 240.

Rain of Fire 20s CD, channel while being mobile, 12 hits with a damage interval of 0.6s burn Duration 4s/2s per hit, duration split for PvE/Comp. If Cripple is put onto it like Barrage, then I'll be okay with being immobile during the channel as Leg Specialist exists.

 

 

Sound like a plan?

 

Do the burst and primal burst need updating?

Pretty sure it hits harder than GS5 still? Coefficient might be the same but they got more modifiers to beef it up.

Warrior GS is better though

 

Arcing Slice does insane damage on a low CD and generates permanent fury.

Hundred Blades has insane damage potential for capitalizing on a CC, just 5 hits = a level 3 Eviscerate.

Whirlwind Attack is one of the best PvP skills in the game for obvious reasons.

Bladetrail and Rush both do very good damage and make it very hard to kite you.

 

There's a reason why GS has been meta on Warrior since 2012.

Not on paper. Why compare it to Rush? Rush is more about the gap close that it provides. Maul and Rush both have a 1.36 modifier by the way.

 

It would be more appropriate to compare the skill to Arcing Slice or Hundred Blades as they have similar cool downs and fill a similar role. Arcing Slice has a 1.213 / 1.82 modifier compared to 1.36 for Maul. 4 hits of Hundred Blade is about a 1.4 modifier which is a little more damage than Maul.

 

As for class modifiers, that makes things really complicated as then you start getting into trait balance, builds, etc... But as for the raw numbers, Warrior GS does quite a bit of damage. Its the only thing that keeps Warrior viable in PvP tbh.
