Waffler.1257 Posted October 15, 2017 Share Posted October 15, 2017 In the Yahnur Plateau area of Domain of Vabbi, I still take damage from the "Fury of the Brand" debuff unless I'm on a skimmer, but I've seen several other players that do not. I've tried asking about 10+ people privately and asked map chat several times, and nobody seems to know how they are able to do this. I've tried searching it on Google and can't find any information on it. One guy straight lied to me and told me he was taking damage when he was running around on foot harvesting with a full health bar. Another guy told me that the debuff was a bug and I needed to log out and log back in, which didn't do anything. Included three pictures below, showing several people on foot who do not have the debuff and do not take damage, and also showing that when I get off of the skimmer I instantly take damage and burning and eventually die. I'm not taking damage, though. This is true for being in sheilds, too. I've never had it apply while on the griffon platform, not that I can recall. Other than during an instanced fight during the griffon quest, that platform has been entirely aggro and damage free for me. You may be bugged in some manner, or you may be in a different part of a quest chain than they are (I'll wager more on the bug, ANet pretty much doesn't phase anything but out-loud dialogue). I do recall reading that you have to complete the story to not be struck by lightning back there, but I can't seem to find where I read it. It gave me the impression that it was intentional though. Because it's not supposed to be hitting in that area. I can't give you any other explanation other than that. It's possible that the client in question ran into a bug, it's possible the person in question was lagging so badly they weren't where they thought they were. I haven't completed the story, so if that's true that could be it. If the Path of Fire story is completed, this area can be reached without further lightning strikes. It's not exactly clear which lightning strikes it refers to but if completing the story fixes it then I'd presume it's the ones in your screenshots. If not, then I'm afraid I haven't a clue. This effect makes you attract repeated lightning strikes that damage you or your mount while grounded in the area.
