  1. In guild wars every class is a mage. Even warrior uses magic, so why would they use different stats for the same thing?
  2. > @"Cleopatra.4068" said: > Why do people think switching from DX9 to DX12 is something that even can be done? > > Those libraries are so different it would probably require rewriting the entire code base. It is not like you can just download a new version of directX and install it. DX9 and DX12 have almost nothing in common. They don’t work the same on a fundamental level. One does all the shading and effects itself, and the other requires the programmers to do it all. The entire graphics engine would have to be thrown away and rewritten. > > If the code is completely modular and not tightly coupled at all, it might theoretically be possible, but considering the age of the code, I sincerely doubt that it is. The longer people mess with a code base, the more new features get added, the more tightly coupled junk code gets added by people in a hurry, or trying to fix unforeseen bugs. > > I don’t know anything about the GW2 code, but I’ve coded using both DX9 and DX12, and I don’t think people realize how ridiculous they sound asking for an upgrade to be done. It isn’t going to happen. They might as well make GW3 if they are going to switch graphics libraries. If they can actually pull it off I would be thrilled, but I'm not going to complain about it if it does not happen either.
  3. What do you mean delete PvP? They can't remove something that never existed in the first place.
  4. The reason why Anet is so tightlipped about future updates in this game is because so many people treat any information about future additions as unbreakable bloodoaths and will resort to rage and fury if not every random idea ever voiced by a developer has been properly implemented. Even if it was a bad idea or they couldn't make it work.
  5. One simple thing they could do to increase participation is to add better rewards to the commendation vendors. Like mystic coins or other useful stuff. At the moment there are almost no decent consumable rewards that players will always need more of.
  6. Guild Wars 2 don't really install to your pc. All you need to do is move the folder and make a new desktop shortcut to the exe file.
  7. I use my numpad keys. I can't really bind anything I need in combat to them anyway, so I decided to use the keys on the right side of my keyboard for out of combat shortcuts.
  8. No, that sms verification is a big part of why the game is no longer plagued by gold sellers. Before they added that the easiest way for sellers to get gold for sale and advertise was to steal accounts.
  9. While I do sometimes use hammer and might even find it useful I would not mind a few changes to make it possible to use as a main weapon and not just a backup/cc tool.
  10. I don't see why these choices have to be mutually exclusive.
  11. If you want the most out of it: Go to the tp, input exotics and level 80 as parameters, sort by price low to high, and buy EVERYTHING you don't have. That way you'll get fashion collector title and tons of skins.
  12. I use them when there are enough of fields and finishers available in my builds. To be honest many classes just don't have enough of them to make combos a large part of gameplay.
  13. I like weapon skins where the decorations don't cover the blade and mostly symmetrical shoulder skins that aren't absurdly big or floating like most of them.
  14. For things to do I would like new dungeons, overhauls of some of the more interesting old content, fractal style tiers/difficulty levels for raids and strikes, more scrying pool missions, and a massive Selbubb underwater boss battle where we can swim around the elder dragon so I can appreciate the scale of the fight. For cosmetics I would want a bigger variety in style of armors, smaller more symmetric pauldrons/shoulderpads and a texture update for the old stuff that has aged poorly. For the gemstore I would want all build and equipment templates to be account wide upgrades (maxing out build slots on all my characters would literally cost me half my savings). For guilds I would want more guild missions, better ingame comunication tools and a new guild hall carved out of the side of a massive seaside cliff. Lastly I would want an option in the settings to make ingame nights darker. I almost never notice the difference between night and day ingame.
  15. While buying a new machine is a last resort,it should be easier to get used machines in the near future since a lot of people are going to be upgrading soon due to large leaps in hardware performance the last year. If any family or friends plan on upgrading try asking what they are going to do with their old machine and if you can get it for cheap. Just make sure you replace the power supply if it's bronze rated. Mine almost caught fire last year.
  16. A chest and backplate with bare arms and open sides would be awesome for norn tattoos, sylvari glow and asuran skin markings.
  17. Meta, what is that? Can I eat it? Jokes aside I've never ever used meta builds on purpose. There is no point aiming for something I wouldn't enjoy playing or couldn't reach the necessary skill level to pull off. People who feel the need to use meta builds others created are just too boring or impatient to experiment. If anything the biggest motivation I had to make my own builds was to save on gold. If swapping gear/stats was free I would not have discovered half the builds I use now.
  18. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > Ah, thank you both! Makes sense now. Cause i've been reading in some threads how blood rubies and all that currency is "per character" and that people use 5 characters to gather stuff quickly. Guess they nerfed that to make the process a bit harder, so that ascended trinkets aren't a joke... > > Cheers! The only living world nodes that has ever been character capped, rather than account capped, are the berries in Bitterfrost. Everything else has always been limited by your account.
  19. Anet owns the full rights to guild wars so NCSoft has no say in the small stuff. If you want to know if something is decided by NCSoft then ask yourself if it is something a shareholder/owner primarily concerned by profit would care about.
  20. As was pointed out earlier: Make sure whatever upgrade code you have is from an autorized retailer. If you buy a code from a reseller that was bought with stolen card information then your account will be deleted when the theft is discovered.
  21. The market was a lot more unstable back then. New items were added more often and people didn't want to wait for prices to drop. There were also patches and balance changes that changed the value of existing items.

Doing that in an action mmo just isn't possible at the moment. The amount of players with hardware good enough to do that probably number less than a few thousand worldwide and out of those I'd assume no one plays GW2. > > I think hardware is already out there. i have been playing some VR titles, action rpg, and they run quite well. Also check for instance Zenith VR. It's an VR MMO with mechanics very similar to GW2 has. And its going to launch next year. And i don't have a mighty machine. And by the way Zenith will launch for Quest 2, and that is a standalone system. no pc required. So if they can do it, why not ArenaNet. > All i was hoping is maybe putting this idea into ArenaNet master minds. I don't know how they do it but either Guild Wars 1 or Guild Wars 2 need a mega pc to run. That might be the way forward for VR, whatever they do. And let's not forget that there's alot of people that want Guild Wars in VR. That's why there's videos and mods to adapt GW2 to VR. These videos, by the way, don't have only a few views. And like i said if we make alot of noise maybe they will listen. just saying. The hardware to handle a few dozen players sure. But GW2 can have over 100 players in one location and all of them can have dozens of effects each. Keeping that at a completely stable framerate is still out of reach for most people.
  23. If you want to avoid massive motion/VR sickness you need stable framerates above 60 fps (preferably a lot more). Doing that in an action mmo just isn't possible at the moment. 24. I think Anet said at some point that the reason they don't add dye channels to undyeable objects is because it would permanently alter the base color and it might be impossible to make it look excactly like it used to when players bought them , which could ruin said item for players who already liked them.
