  1. I personally have a crazy time playing Daredevil. Not the sw/pistol or sw/d daredevil. Double staff daredevil (for the sigils). It's viable, deals 11k with vault, can deal up to 15k if pumped, and bound is an amazing dodge (reckless impact poop).

Lmao fr. Cause rn the only use I find for mace is an extra block for my support sbp. Other than that the dmg is to laugh at. Berserker kinda compensates with the skill, but yeah...it's berserker lol.

  3. So Ele. A class which I'm still (after nearly 2 years) hesitant to play. But after I kinda got semi-experienced with the likes of thief, mesmer and engi I believe the time is right.

I'll go through the leveling process instead of using tomes for this class for obvious reasons. So once I hit 80 I'd love to build the unkillable weaver roamer, the one with the many dodges and invuln intervals. Issue is I have not found it's build yet. So that why I'm here. Runes, Sigils, Weapons, Armor, Stats, Traits and skills.

Let me specify I'm talking wvw roaming. Thanks!

Pre HoT, PvE basically had a single statset used, Berserker, and PvP wasn't faring much better. PvE meta was "rigid", WvW meta was the GWEN hammer train (until they changed stability) and sPvP was the flavor of the month meta.

    > The "E" stood for Elementalist, but, otherwise, you got the gist of it. Pre HoT players were relying a lot on combo fields and elementalist with it's staff was the best pick for that. Engineer, while able to more or less substitute for an elementalist wasn't "dominant" due to it's water field being "subpar" compared to elementalist's waterfields.

I see, so this was the meta beyond a single Guild. In any case, I have kind of a hard time thinking that water fields aren't used anymore and a support spellbreaker, I always use my blasts on water fields or light fields for sustain. I guess it's simply not effective?

Does GWEN stand for Guardian, Warrior, Engineer, Necro or something?

    > This design is too redundant with the damaging capabilities of berserker and the weakening/sustain part of spellbreaker. I mean i would rather have a new E spec that feels fresh than a make over of what kinda already exist...

That's fair. My issues on making a 'unique' espec are:

    1) Make something new with adrenaline

    2) Not pump some new 'form' or 'kit' on the spec with 5 new skills and call it a day

    3) Find a balanced duelist warrior

As a wvw roamer it reflects on my choices. Spellbreaker is viable with FC, Berserker is bad and Core is boring since you cannot theorycraft with it. So I'd give away "uniqueness" of a spec for a more fun experience while fighting. We actually need to question: 'How many unique styles of a brute-warrior style of fighter can there be? We have a vanilla, a damaging and a defensive. What could come next if not a hybrid?

What would you suggest though? I'm very interested in other concepts.

    > Quibble. Just call it an Oni Slayer rather than Demon Slayer. Your breath of corruption condi damage mitigation can be done via a trait (like Soulbeast). The concept of breath within combat forms is not way out there and is thematic for the region we're going to so :+1: . I assume something like 20-30s CDs on this kind of utilities. Instant cast in your mind or 1/4s-1s cast?

Tbh if I were to sit down and think of CDs I'd have to do so with care and examine every other thing in the game, but i'd imagine half minute would work well. Onislayer sounds good, I guess I didnt consider it cause the espec name needs to be 1 word and i didnt think of 'onislayer' as a singular word.

Short cast time. Nothing instant, maybe the Elite is instant, the rest though are meant to be what the concept encompasses. Time for a breath = cast

I was just a bit bored of seeing only monk warriors or double pistol warriors being suggested and tried to go a step further with creativity for a capable duelist warrior.

  8. Hello everyone, I'm Marshal and since the inevitable release of EoD will bring forth a series of new Elite Specializations I wished to theorycraft a bit on my own ideas for warrior. Granted this isn't the first, nor the last post about new Especs, but I said, why not? So here we go:

    * Name: **Demonslayer**

    * Description/Lore: _The Demonslayers are powerful warriors who defend Cantha from the horrors of the depths. With the Jade Sea back to it's liquid state, ancient enemies have started appearing in the shores of the Southern Continent...The Oni and the fallen servants of Kanaxai seek to obliterate all living creatures around them. However these mighty combatants are there to halt their progress..._

    * Weapon: **Staff** (Mechanically)- **Spear** (Animations) - _Weapon skills for a staff used as a spear can be many, but my main idea with the weapons in the Espec is a 'parry' mechanic where for attacks dealt to you, autoskill 1 (accounts for all weapons) can shift to a strong ranged move aimed at instantly countering your enemy, in a mechanical fashion similar to stealth attacks for thieves._

    * Espec Mechanic: **Abandonment** - _Abandonment replaces Adrenaline. Each Adrenaline bar receives an F function. Bar 1-F1, Bar 2-F2, Bar 3-F3. Demonslayers make use of the **Standard Bursts** with F1. If their Abandonment reaches the maximum of the 2nd Bar, they receive a new skill in F2, that being unrelated to the equipped weapons. It's called **Interpolation Constant** and the warrior assumes a battle stance in which he delivers a powerful shockwave piercing attack in a PBAoE cone (900 range) in front of them, dealing damage and reflecting all incoming attacks in that area towards back to their foes. Finally the F3 button activates **Total Concentration** a skill which utilizes a new burst animation for the weapon equipped where the wielder delivers a flurry of attacks (4) in rapid succession that deal less dmg per strike compared to the T1 Burst, but more dmg combined. This skill grants quickness to the warrior as well as fury and 4 stacks of might, with the first blow being a 1 sec knockdown._

    * Skills: **Breaths** - _Breaths are a new skill type aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the warrior while draining/weakening the enemy, have a 1/2 sec cast-time, a radius of 180 and a range of 900. The heal pulses with the warrior while moving, similarly to a sand shade._

    ---Examples Include:

    1. Heal: **Breath of Life** - _Enemies (5) within the radius lose health in order to heal the Slayer (Initial Heal 5k, Siphon Heal (5*1 sec intervals of 200 HP per enemy)._

    2. Utility: **Breath of Calmness** - _Take a deep breath and see what the eyes cannot, follow your enemy's movement (a trail of where they are appears) while in stealth for a brief period of time (3 sec), gain Superspeed (3 sec), 5 stacks of unblockable (6 seconds) and 5 stacks of might, stubreaker._

    3. Utility: **Breath of Corruption** - _Breathe and gaze into your opponent, dealing dmg, weakening them and applying vulnerability, while gaining protection (6 sec) and condition dmg mitigation (reduce inc condi dmg by 33%)._

    4. Utility: **Breath of Battle** - _Breathe deeply, deal dmg and confusion to enemies (4 stacks), gain fury (5 sec) and retaliation (5 sec)._

    5. Utility: **Breath of Control** - _Breathe and launch yourself over at your enemy (900 range). Once making contact with them immobilize them (3 sec) and deal 2 massive blows of dmg (2x 1500)._

    6. Elite: **Self-Movement** - _Breathe and concentrate on your enemies. For 5 seconds evade all incoming attacks while moving and deal damage (10x 4k) to enemies (5) within your reach (500 radius)._

Traits and the likes require waaay more thought and since this is simply a concept I thought that there was no need to delve into it further. Any ideas you got and want to see? Thanks for reading!

  9. Berserker is calling...

In all seriousness, warrior mains just roll with it. You can't theorycraft warrior anymore. Discipline is a must have and Tactics/Strength/Defense always have the same traits regardless of build.

Spellbreaker has innate defense so it's automatically better. Shield is a must have unless double axe cleaver you dies after 4 seconds (Endure Pain be like).

    > B Tier: Mesmer (Core, Mirage), Warrior (Spellbreaker, sometimes Core), Scrapper

    > C Tier: Elementalist (Weaver), Necro (Core, Reaper),

I'd argue Necro as a b tier since Core Bunkers and Shout Reapers can be very effective. Scourge however is definitely a C tier since (unless full condi deadzone) with Minions it's a pretty meh build.

Ele is the only profession that visually appeals to me but I can't play. It's difficult tbh. But rn, I believe that Tempests in parties of 3 to 5 are absolute tanks that deal huge damage. So Tempest A tier with a lot of skill. Core I'm not sure.

Druid trapper can be debated A tier. Huge pool of stealth just for spamming traps, a lot of condi and high disengage capability.

Core Rev maybe B tier with skill.

    Chronomancer maybe a C tier.

I'd advocate that Core Ranger can pull off Soulbeast numbers.

And now for what we've been waiting for!!!

D Tier: Berserker (power builds are a no, condi Berserker ew, Gunflame meme), Core Engi (suprisingly underutilized, but Scrapper and Holo simply make you a better fighter to not use their Espec), Firebrand (I just can't see FB in a roaming perspective with no allies).

  11. Toughest ones for me this far have been:

Any type of Ele, core is a good start, weaver is super offensive and tempest can be super challenging if fighting with 1 or 2 more teammates.

Firebrand (I always thought of it as a spam-my role and tbh I have a hard time seeing it as a roamer in WvW at least, but it needs plenty of clicking)

Revenant, with Shiro to be speficic. Shiro has some very high cost skills that will benefit you if you play correctly, but it can be a trouble trying to figure it out, especially with it's life siphoning not being the ' classic time to save myself ' button, as you gotta hit to heal.

sword dagger thief of any variant. Some players have truly made me wonder how much time they have put into their gameplay to survive just about any situation.

mesmer has a lower skill ceiling compared to the afformentioned but some builds require plenty of clicking. core in particular needs very good positioning.

  12. Encountered a mesmer in my server hill's alpine bl. Moments before, the enemies were ramming the inner gate, but we used ewp and dealt with them before they went in.

Then a mesmer popped into the lord room, left a portal, jumped out of the keep, never did we see him drop the portal and suddenly 30 enemies were at lord...

Im still trying to figure out how. Prior to the initial attack we kept the objective for 2 hours. No one breached it and you tell me that the lord and the outskirts of the keep are only 5k distance away???

Ofc this is more of a 'hack' issue than botting, but since this thread is about stuff that shouldnt happen in wvw, I mentioned it.

    >

    > Yeah its only efective if people dont pay atention. Plus most necro do not waste a slot for this pull ability

Which is weird imo. My reaper build cannot go without this skill. good cc, good lf management, good range. what else could possibly overcome this?

  14. Speaking of which let me refine some ideas on core traits:

    1. Vengenful Return is removed as a minor master trait from Discipline.

    2. Swap Axe Mastery for Furious as GM of Arms and Discipline respectively. Furious now grants adrenaline on critical hit and Furious Surge grants increased precision per stack (max 25).

    3. Bloodlust replaces Deep Strikes.

    4. Dual Wielding becomes Discipline's Major Adept in place of Vengenful Return, no restriction on off-hand or main-hand weapons.

    5. New Major Arms GM: **Crisis** : "When below the health threshold (50%) grant yourself improved fury (imrpoves condi and power dmg by 2%). When below 25% health, gain double the increase and when below 12.5% , quadruple.

    6. Minor Arms GM: 'reworked Vengenful Return' , gain 75% chance to rally (rallying restores 25% of health and 50 endurance), deal more damage after rallying (5% for 10 seconds)

    Then maybe something like:

*Opportunist : Applying Movement Impair conditions (cripple, immobilize, chill etc) grants adrenaline (5) and heals per adrenaline point gained for 1% of your health?

Something more focused on survivability...not sure.

This were some ideas I had, but ofc they need further refinement. I wanted to focus on making Arms a traitline that can be used outside condi and meme builds, while Discipline still needs some tweaks (if we are to release warriors from always picking Discipline).

  15. > @"Lan Deathrider.5910" said:

    > 1) Burn on AA on LB should be baseline. Crack Shot should give 33% chance to cause burn on a critical hit with a 1s duration. Similar for bleed and Harpoon Gun fwiw. Rifle should get increased adrenaline per hit rather than on AA.

    >

    > 2) Vengeful Return on a minor would be very powerful and would make whatever traitline that received it almost mandatory. It would almost be a guaranteed rally every time you go down.

    >

    > 3) What would be better would be for Vengeful Return to offer a benefit while you are not in downstate. A stat increase might not be a bad idea, like more ferocity which is doubled during downstate. I say ferocity because Discipline is the traitline that originally focused on crit damage. Something like +150 ferocity normally and doubled while in downstate, including when you use vengeance. That way you have some extra DPS normally, and you get a boost when you use Vengeance to help secure your own rally.

I feel like Vengenful Return, as a minor master, proc-ing increased ferocity or _better effects on your fury_ ,would work better in Arms. I know it may not make much sense, but at the same time we got Crackshot in Discipline instead of Arms. Like fusing Deep Strikes from Arms with an increased chance to rallly when in downed state. Name it something like 'Limit Breaker' for said rally chance and superior effects in fury.

Then Discipline has a good way to utilize a new major adept and Arms can be reworked to be utilized more (not only in the meme builds or condi berserker). Arms being a good substitute to Strength when running either Discipline and/or Defense would make for some interesting builds, power or condi.

Cause frankly, warrior condi gameplay is rather limited..and imo not fun in competetive modes.

  16. I prefer talking about the pact with Trahearne than chasing chimeras with Aurene tbh. It's pretty evident how Aurene was Trahearne's replacement and how they made her the cutesy, fan-favourite little dragon so people can get attached to her.

Imo GW2 would have been better without the dragon champion stuff and if we stuck as military leaders in the pact. We would still be heroes, no need to be 'the chosen one'.

I actually miss Trahearne. You can kinda empathize with him in HoT, as he resisted Mordremoth. And aside from Eir's death which would serve as a mean of promoting Braham's 'rebellious' stage in LS3, Trahearne is there in the count of yet another important figure whose death left no impact *cough* Smodur, *cough* Almorra.

Understandable. I mean game's filled with cosmetic stuff, so there's always something for everyone (kinda).
