  1. Please transfer to Sorrows Furnace so you can teach me and carry me. Maybe we can become a real server again!

    As for the balance I don’t like any of the options above. I would just like them to focus on keeping power creep in check and try to find a way to improve unused skills and traits to improve build diversity. It seems like most professions are using the same subset of skills and traits since there aren’t any competitive alternatives.

    I would also like it if they didn’t use elite specs to sell new expansions. It’s been pretty obvious that they nerf the previous specializations with each expansion. I doubt this will ever happen but it would be nice.

  2. I usually wind up playing my Celestial Mallyx Herald when there are queues since I can use it for both roaming and zergs. When fighting larger numbers it’s much easier to generate might and have enemies stand in your AOEs. The damage is too low for solo roaming, but the tankiness and CC works well if you have a few people.

    This build used to be much better since it used to have decent Stability uptime and could reach 100% boon duration. The nerfs to the Stability traits and boon duration have really hurt it. Also the old Facet of Nature worked much better with Mallyx for zerg fights. Transferring conditions only seems to work if you can pull 30-40 stacks of burning to yourself when the enemy is firing at allies with a Mortar. In that scenario it’s easy to get 5-6k burning.

  3. It’s too bad. WvW would have been an easy game mode to support.

    They would just mainly focus on PvP balance since PvE is just a DPS check. All new skills should should be graphed on a balance triangle where damage, defense, and utility make up the corners. A skill could fully represent one of these aspects or partially support two aspects, but never all three. Instead, we have I win buttons which are spammed like Unrelenting Assault. It’s a gap closer, does damage, evades, and grants might.

    New maps would have been simple to create. You wouldn’t need new NPCs, AI creatures, and events. Just apply new textures, new ambient objects, and slightly alter the terrain. The terrain used by yaks and large objectives could have been left as is to save time. These maps would have gotten hundreds of hours of use unlike PvE maps which are forgotten rather quickly.

    Hopefully this would have kept a strong player base. Then, as others have said, they could have created gem store items for WvW.

  4. I feel this is a bad idea since the community has mostly received the changes they asked for:

    * Zergs can move too quickly around the map - Desert Borderlands

    * The top corners of the alpine borderlands are useless - Desert Borderlands

    * Zergs can capture objectives too quickly - larger Keeps in Desert Borderlands

    * The borderlands should be a three way fight like EB - removal of keep waypoints after HoT

    * I want to zerg and don't have time to sweep for roamers - spotted

    * I want to zerg and don't want to upgrade objectives - auto upgrades

    * I want to zerg and not defend objectives - auto upgrades, watch tower

    * Roamers are annoying and shouldn't be able to capture larger objectives - increased lord HP to up TTK

    * Towers should control an area of the map - add walls to block roamers

    I also don't like the idea to getting feedback from commanders and large guilds since this will make the game even more one-dimensional. It's already gotten to the point that if there isn't a tag or zerg most people log out. Other play styles need to be supported and encouraged.

  5. I was thoroughly impressed by this patch. They finally removed the automatically triggered punish/reflect CC traits. I remember an old post after the HOT expansion describing how obsurd these traits were.

    A Revenant CCs a Mesmer. The Mesmer’s trait stun-breaks and reflects the CC. The Revenant’s trait stun-breaks and taunts the Mesmer. All of this with no player interaction.

    These traits were even worse in WvW since a well placed CC will usually trigger these traits on several players. It may be possible to use static fields with a glass Elementalist again without having to worry about how many stacks of Stability you have!

  6. The biggest problem with the new Herald is the F2 upkeep cost. It feels off since you are better off spamming the active F2 ability so you can avoid the passive's energy cost. Also some of the new F2 abilities seem like are only useful in certain situations. The old F2 was much more versatile and had uses whether you were running around solo or playing with a large group.

    This is much less of a problem, but I'm also annoyed with the new set of traits. There's too many traits focused on healing or the F2 ability. It feels like they did this to allow people to play support in raids. I miss old traits like Radiant Revival, Vigorous Persistence, and Enhanced Bulwark which were much more useful in WvW.

  7. I just noticed that the metabattle site is recommending that people use a Cavalier's back item to reach 2500 armor. If you switch to Knight's, you have the same defensive stats and you get a 0.4% increase to your average DPS. It's funny that this site is supposed to be optimal, but there's always some odd trait or attribute combination choices...

  8. I wasn't sure what you were running so I just threw out a bunch of options. If you have to give up Devastation you may be right about the trade offs. I just wanted to bring up some other alternatives since adding toughness didn't have much impact.

    I also tend to use Soldiers or Captains for toughness when roaming since they have less impact on dps. Soldiers works well with Marauders and Captains pairs well with Valkyrie.

  9. Another option would be to use a more defensive trait line like Retribution since Versed in Stone offers protection and could help you recover after the initial burst. Other options could include using Rolling Mists so you can use less Precison, using sigil of energy, or steal health on crit food.

    > If you leveled with them, then yeah, you have to click, for Spirit Shards just go to Myani!

    Just spirit shards. I don’t have any spare character slots at the moment.

  11. I’d rather have them keep the elite specializations at the same power level as core. I have plenty of income to spend but I try to spend the least amount possible in this game since I’m not happy with balance. It was pretty obvious what they did to the HOT specs:

    * Nerf unhindered combant for Daredevil

    * Nerf Tempest damage

    * Nerf sustain for Berserker

    * Nerf Reaper shroud

    They don’t need power creep to get me to buy the expansion. I have 14 level 80s and would be willing to invest in the game to have more play options, but I have little goodwill left for this game.
