  1. Tempest is mainly used for the stunbreak and overload air. The auras need to be buffed and/or powerful aura merged into tempest line because you're forced to go with air line to go offense in any fashion.

Without overload air , fresh air is pretty weak.

Tempest+ air is two specializations meaning you have the option of arcane/fire/earth/water (auras).

  2. What boon does warrior give that warrants dropping precision and ferocity for concentration as a main stat?

If it isn't alacrity (20% recharge) with classes that hugely benefit from it or quickness partywide , it probably isn't worth considering. Even fury is iffy. Given guardian quickness uptime it boils down to Mesmer and renegade.

If you're thinking of might from tactics, it's a bad idea because you dropped precision and you could just run strength runes or even the strength sigil.

  3. This shouldn't be necessary at all if your Windows has been hotfixed per Bitsum (makers of the ProcessLasso tool)

Case 4: Intel HyperThreading and AMD Bulldozer

    > Another important issue is avoiding placing a load on a HyperThreaded (non-physical) core. These cores offer a small fraction of the performance of a real core. The Windows scheduler is aware of this and will swap to them only if needed. As of mid Jan 2012 the Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 schedulers have a hotfix for AMD Bulldozer CPUs that see them as HyperThreaded, cutting them down from 8 physical cores to 4 physical cores, 8 logical cores. This is for two reasons: The AMD Bulldozer platform uses pairs of cores called Bulldozer Modules. Each pair shares some computation units, such as an L2 cache and FPU. To spread out the load and prevent too much load being placed on two cores that have shared computational units, the Windows patch was released, boosting performance in lightly threaded scenarios.

    > When I say Bulldozer+, I refer to PileDriver, SteamRoller, and all later incarnations we’ve seen, or are rumored to be in the works.

  4. A typical power-focused rune boosts stats by 175 total for the 6 rune bonus (225 with adventurer's). As with celestial gear in general, you lose out on power/condition damage generally.

With divinity runes + cele you'll be below 1800 power (vs ~2557 wuth full berserker with power rune or 2347 full marauder with power rune) although the crit damage will be respectable at around 197%

Basically losing ~ 32% base power by going with cele or ~100 (a large portion of the rune bonus) if rune of divinity.

With runes you generally want to look for bonuses you can't obtain elsewhere easily. For example 25% boon duration translates to +375 concentration ; some runes give useful boons such as fury (for PvE) or resistance (for WvW) or 5% to 10% damage bonuses which are multipliers of power such that they are worth more than +100 power.

  5. You haven't seen the 12K Vaults thieves have been landing on my 3.2K armor.

Rangers only shine in roaming, in larger groups the amount of projectile reflection and protection / armor boosts means ranger longbow and deadeye rifles are more gimmicky.

Melee MUST do more sustained damage than ranged (in every game mode) because it's easier to avoid melee hits than ranged hits unless you're immobilized or stunlocked.

That is the reason gunflame was toned down and so was CoR. Meteor shower is kept in check by a long cast time and recharge , the skill coefficient isn't that high at 1.6 scaling.

Imagine if ranger longbow outdid greatsword, rev hammer did more than sword + sword, necro axe did more than GS or reaper shroud, or engineer rifle outdid Photon Forge or Bomb Kit. We'd have a huge issue.

P.S. deadeyes can be blocked or reflected now.

  6. @ Ventus thunder, that is more or less how Glint F2 used to work, you popped it and it had protection and the other boons.

You didn't specify game mode but the way I use glint f2 now in WvW is in conjunction with runes (durability) or other classes boons (guardian stability for example).

The other way I use it is after stunbreaking from switching to jalis, then I pop f2 for stability.

  7. As Ojimaru started:

    1. Mace power scaling is extremely poor at 0.35 to 0.6 coefficient for the auto and below 1.0 for the 2 and 3 skill

    2. Grieving benefits crits more (~+40% crit damage is **not** 40% damage) , viper adds ~ 40% condition duration while retaining the same power stat

    3. Shortbow was rather terrible in general until it was buffed multiple times and now its auto scales a bit better than mace (auto is 0.65 coefficient) , although due to attack speed and projectile nature it's not a great idea

In PvP modes grieving could be better due to cleanses but for PvE there's no cleanses involved.

    > I got rifle with no issues. Looking at it afterwards I thought it might have to do with the sequence you get the cheeves in. I did 'kill ten without taking damage' last, but I think most ppl prolly get that one on the way to killing 30 or 60 overall or w/e it is. When you get the the ten kills with no damage cheeve first I think it may block progress to the overall kills cheeve by awarding the same item, similar to how focus was bugged . . .

I will test further but I think the main issue if the Deadly Accuracy item is actually not the culprit (as in Focus collection) due to being in 2 achievements is that having people kill 30 things (in an unspecified time limit) without achieving 10 kills unscathed is unlikely in a meta.

I don't think most people will get hit while wielding a 1200 range rifle unless they stand in AOE, so it is probably reason that the quest is bugged. In order to be hit with rifle you have to be soloing and not doing the meta (where all the trash mobs die more or less instantly due to the sheer amount of players).

  9. It doesn't matter which MMO you talk about but pretty much all of them have some part that require sequential processing which stalls the rest of the threads. That is primarily single-threaded in nature which means instructions per cycle is important (not just MHz).

The problem is Bulldozer architecture is using clustered multi-threading (CMT) so it's technically 4 cores not 8. There's actually a lawsuit going on about this , claiming it was misleading due to 8 integer cores but only 4 FPU. As a Phenom II CPU (as well as Ryzen) owner I passed over the Bulldozer generation (Vishera included) in favor of Sandy Bridge from Intel. I'm pretty sure there's a Windows patch for Bulldozer to improve performance in general for Bulldozer.

Ryzen 1st gen upgraded IPC by 50% and 2nd gen is very competitive in lightly threaded workloads due to the improved boost algorithm, so it's the recommended CPU if you are buying AMD CPUs and by all indications the successor Ryzen 3rd gen will be competitive with i9-9900k/i7-9700k _with 30% less power too_. A 2nd gen Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 is competitive with Intel's i5 and i7 CPUs and if you want to optimize performance you can lock it to one CCX (Ryzen suffers latency when shifting threads to second CCX) using processlasso or Windows' core affinity.

For anyone that doesn't already have a system, an unlocked i5 8th or 9th gen CPU (i5-8600k,i5-9600k), unlocked i7 7th through 9th gen CPU (i7-7700k, i7-8700k, i7-9700k), Ryzen 5 or 7 CPU are good bets. Naturally Ryzen & 9th gen i5/i7 Intel CPUs require less handywork with delidding to allow for lower temperatures and most motherboard manufacturers enable MCE (multicore enhancement) making all cores boost to turbo if you're too lazy to overclock manually. There's no reason to get a quad core CPU in 2019 unless it's a thin 15W laptop of some sort.

As far as CPU intensive settings go, you will want to turn down reflections, shadows, and model limit.

  10. Right now all efforts on getting diviner's gear so **Thunderhead Peaks**

**Bitterfrost Frontier** : winterberries are good for viper/marauder/trailblazer/commander's/minstrel's gear (back, ring, accessory), aquabreather. It's a character-based timegate with minimum guaranteed drop rate

**Ember Bay** : petrified wood from reward track traded in for accessory (viper/minstrel's/marauder/commander's)

**Bloodstone Fen**: can stat swap bloodstone backpack , amulet, & ring and offers viper/minstrel's/marauder/commander's

**Sandswept Isles**: diflourite for harrier's/grieving I obtain from the reward track

**Silverwastes**: only to open HoT accountbound bags on lvl 30 or 50 character

Thunderhead peaks did something well in that the branded masses pretty much are guaranteed per node. Granted the collection takes many of them (the insignia and inscription require 25 to 50 each).

If the minimum drop rate from the nodes were raised to one such that the RNG weren't so high you'd have multiple effects. The first is that more people would play support classes with diviner's, harrier, or other such stats. The second is that you'd see more people on the maps even if for brief stints.

  11. I think rifle deed #1 is still bugged as stated above. I purchased the recipe today and was able to complete deed #2 and deed #3 (which for some reason is named **Chasing Tales: Deadly accuracy** for the reward , instead of **Chasing Tales: Preemptive Strike**).

I tried in my holo before and after the latest patch as well as on warrior.

  12. Not much since

    A. I have maxed weaponmastery on staff, sword, scepter, dagger , and warhorn.

    B. revenant is less stressful in WvW if I want to backline and does more damage generally (most WvW arcdps videos / images show herald at top with scourges)

    C. chrono mesmer makes PvE easy and so does firebrand guardian , soulbeast ranger, and warrior instead of dodging autos

    D. holo plays similar to ele but with_ zero cooldown on swapping into kits_ unlike attunements , so if you mess up something you aren't locked out of your skills (any non fresh air weaver)

    E. firebrand / scrapper is far stronger vs scourges in WvW than tempest due to condi flipping rather than regen healing and weak auras

    F. it's more or less suicidal in PvP unlike the days of cele dagger + dagger : the powercreep is huge
