  1. 1. An actual dedicated team for WvW/PvP 2. A proper budget for said team to do more than change a few dmg numbers.
  2. > @"Mithras.2805" said: > You are wrong in saying that this is the game mechanics. It is an underdeveloped system where you cannot write to people from another server. Because I'm sorry, but combining with blocking, and then changing to a friend just to write something to someone. Only the desperate are capable of this. And sorry, but for a handful of people you can talk to on WvW from other servers, there is a whole legion of people who only want to insult and spit their griefs on whispering. Both me and many people playing this game grew up of it and probably wish there was a system as described. This game is played not only by teenagers, but also by adult people who do not want anyone to call them the worst just for playing the game. It is impossible to write more clearly. A simple box asking if I want to receive a message or email in-game. I am to understand that by this a huge number of people would lose the sense of playing this game? It is a sacrifice I am ready to make. Probably not only me. Well, I also find it amusing and I am in my mid 30's. Most of us who are older have seen and experienced far, FAR worse in real life and things like this we just brush off with a chuckle. As for him being wrong....He is not, it is a game wide issue. His point is not that it doesn't happen in WvW or that you are not having the issue in WvW, but rather no one pays attention to the WvW section and getting action taken on the suggestion will probably be better in general discussion. Not saying it doesn't belong here or if you wish to leave it here, that is fine, but I do agree with him that you will probably have a better chance in the other sections.

I also see a ton of people just hanging out on siege when there is very few foes. Oh, I see 2 thieves better get on the cannon type mentality. I only posted the video of game play when you don't choose that kind of mentality. > > FYI, Even against full comps I do significant damage as I'm not running merely burn guard with my setup. It is full on hybrid (cele and grieving). The point I took from it was not burn DH, but that most people are bots, don't care to learn and get trolled by easy to counter builds. Solo I run power DH, but a few weeks ago we had some people defending SMC vs a group, no one would push out, people were being melted on walls etc etc. I swap to burn DH, jump in the middle of them and they mostly ignore me, sit in my aoes and I down probably 1/4 of them SOLO. That has NOTHING to do with DH and everything to do with having simple awareness, I should have been downed in seconds. Keep in mind, they had a number of burn DH them selves, so it's not like I had some special build they didn't. The most annoying part is I have done this often, get huge downs in a group of 30-40, we will have 20ish AND NO ONE WILL PUSH. And on the off chance some do....It's like wet noodles, like how, how do you even make a build that does so little dmg? Then I remember what the dev for arcdps said and that was most people do not have anything close to a build but rather random traits and gear sets.
  4. Though most has been said....Set yourself to offline, you can't get PMs from anyone then. They can only mail you, mail is game wide and open for anyone not on your block list, because not being able to send mail to someone offline, would kinda kill the point. However, you can block them as soon as they do, if they are taking the effort to mail you after a fight, you should smile, because you annoyed them enough to not just PM you, which is super easy, but for them to take the time to block you, PM you, find out you are offline, then open mail, type out your name and send you QQ msg... Maybe it's the troll in me, but those are highlights of my day and always give me a good laugh. Another thing, if you block someone and they get on another account to PM/Mail you again, is considered harassment, as you have already taken the effort to block them and they are "block evading", which anet will take action on, so if people are doing this, be sure to screen cap both accounts and msgs and open a ticket, not just in game report. Another note; some of the trolls I have run into have become in game friends, and some people I have trolled as well. Some people really are salty, others are just doing it because they are bored. So don't write everyone off because they might troll around or might have had a bad day and are just venting to some random person in a game. I had this reminder myself a few months ago when someone PMed me in anger, and BMed me after I lost a 1vsX with them. I shot something back at them and we went back and forth but I kept it calm. After a few mins, they actually said they really should not have lashed out etc etc, I said it's all good, everyone has rough days, we dueled a bit and now they are on my friends list. That aside, having the option for "contacts only" I don't think would hurt anything and would allow you to still send and receive to people you might know on other servers/links, and would work across PM and mail. It would also help with spam gold sellers etc etc in town, I can't really see much of a negative on at least giving the option.

That and when you are in the position to need it, there are not 5 people on the whole map. Just one more thing that has been left behind and forgotten.

Then that means that no single profession is really at fault, more like the structures are glitchy, no? No. It's skills and utility that was never in mind when WvW was made, same with warclaw, all of which seemed to get little to no actual testing before release to live. I would blame it on this over the structure it self. Most classes can't since the warclaw fixes, right now it's Mes and Thief. Guard is, well more or less impossible to pull off when intending to do it, I have tried to do it for hours with someone I know from another server, I could never figure the timing out and I don't know of anyone who has made a claim to be able to do such. Mes I am not sure if the exploit still exists, I will have to dig for old videos and test out at some point. Ele I am like 99% sure was patched, but it required an anet employee getting caught on video abusing it and people getting mad about it for that to even happen. Thief like the video above I remember hearing about and seeing video of someone abusing it probably not even a few months after HoT release. If it's still possible on DD to do this, I would say this was without question the easiest one to pull off and pull off consistently.

I don't even select a target, I just push the buttons and try to survive while laying traps around. I have more win ratio than any other class now. > I am not trying to tell that Guardian's damage should be nerfed, I just wanted to point that Guardians shouldn't be a class that is really easy to play. > What time zone do you play in? I can try and meet you online in a custom match, you run this burn DH build and I will run a full melee power DH build, so I will have to stand next to you putting me at a huge disadvantage. Always interested in seeing this build, people always talk about it and this is the 3rd thread about it I am posting offering to fight vs the build....But no one ever accepts? I am like a low gold rank player, why does no one want to show off how powerful the build is?
  9. If you are at all looking to actually get better at PvPing, you will need to. If you don't you will always only be reacting after something happens. If you know builds, skills, traits and what weapon sets tend to go with those, you can often tell what sort of fight, rotations and utility they will probbaly have on their skill bar. This lets you know all sorts of things, including if you want to swap to another build to counter, it also gives you an idea on what sort of stun breaks they might have, so you know what to bait out before bursting, it lets you know what CC or bursts to expect yourself etc etc. So having at least basic playing ability on all classes is very helpful, you don't even have to be good at them, just understanding how the class plays and what it is possible of doing as well as what it is weak to.
  10. What SSD and what HDD are in the system? Many of the newer SSDs allow the use of cloning software for free if it detects one of their drives in the system, such as Samsung, WD, etc. Most use a brand name like acronis true image, which are also SSD aware cloning programs, it will do a full clone of the OS and file system to the SSD, then all you have to do is remove the HDD and install the SSD and boot like normal, everything should remain the same and the only thing you should notice is the much faster SSD. The only reason to do a full install is if you are upgrading to a newer version of windows, or the file system is corrupt etc etc.

It's probbaly one of the most common I have seen, WvW and sPvP. It's a very carry heavy build, it's tanky, does good dmg, has minions as meat shields etc etc. When you fight them, they almost always just face tank everything and often follow the same path and become predictable. This last weekend I farmed the same one for hours on our home BL, map rotation and run path were always the same, even though I killed them every time, they never tried to evade me, got dismounted in the same location every time etc etc. The annoying part is it's still super effective, as it does this non-stopped, so it almost always has all the south camps capped and will often take north camps if you are busy. It's hard to keep up with something that never takes a break. There is one more that uses porting, it doesn't even travel, it uses a hack to port straight into the camp, someone else posted a video of someone using this same hack on DBL where it was porting to shrines, right in front of the player, who would kill them, and then it would WP and port back in very short order, making it very obvious. That is not to say other builds/classes are not used for this, however for a bot/NPC content build, it's hard to beat because it will probably never die to a camp on it's own.

Photoshop, who is a BIG seller for Apple computers said it wont be until end of 2021 before they have native M1 support. Then you are talking about a game? Which mac is already going to be a fraction of the user base and then you are talking about a just released HW set that is not even based on the x86 architecture and instruction sets? Yeah.....Not going to happen. > > You understand that lists shows that photoshop has to use Rosetta 2 (emulation) to work on computers using the ARM chip right? You understand that list actually proves what I am saying right? You understand that Adobe, who owns photoshop has been working on the M1 beta for some time and that the late 2021 statement was from their own press release at the time? The point being, if something as "simple" as photoshop who sells lots of software to Apple users and has been working on the ARM version of photoshop for over a year, shows how much work this is to get something to work native on the ARM architecture when porting from x86, keeping in mind, Photoshop already has ARM versions as well, so it's not like they are starting from scratch. This would involve not just a game recode, but a game engine one as well. And games are a small market on Apple, meaning that an investment of time and resources of that size for the smallest part of your market is never going to have ROI. As such, my answer still stands that if they want to run GW2 on a M1 based computer, it will probably always be in an emulator. You also posted a thread months ago about support for Big Sur/M1, and you got an answer there as well in the form of a video from an anet partner who said they spoke directly with their anet contact who said they had no current plans for supporting it. They also had a new Mac with the M1 chip, and installed it on video, stated that it required emulation to run and showed that on lowest settings in a populated area he was getting in the mid to upper 20 FPS, in an empty core map he got mid/upper 30's.

  15. Put this burn DH build you are talking about together and let me know a good time to meet you in game, we will do a custom match. I will bring a power melee DH (so I am FORCED to play on your traps), we will do a few fights, not saying I will win, I just want to see this super OP, 30k tick, unkillable DH build so I can use it myself.

Well, I guess I am going to be that person....This is a L2P issue. I DO agree it would be nice if people zerged less, however it is the most rewarding way to play the mode. I can roam and havoc all day and only get the same amount of rewards as zerging for one hour. As such, this is not going to change, it is also easier for people to be carried by others and over all skill can be low because fights are a numbers game with how combat and downstate function currently. There is no reason for a siege building buff, as it stands you can already carry a max of 25 supply, if you don't bother to invest into that or make the effort to max your supply before attacking something or not using guild siege, that is your own choice. This also does not scatter people, the time it takes to build siege is NOT why people run in zergs. Also worth noting and where the L2P comes in, solo capping a tower is possible now, I do it almost every day. And 5 people and under should be able to kill a tower lord in under 2mins? Why are you not doing this now? Serious question, with 5 people it should be dead in 30 seconds or less. If you have 5 people on lord and it's taking longer than 2 mins to kill, you need to take a serious look at your builds. Matter of fact, if you have 5 people, you should be going for keeps, not towers, towers are solo or duo attacks. Before the power nerf solo capping a keep was possible (I have done it more than once) and duo capping a keep is pretty easy as long as you are not out numbered by defenders. However havoc teams can do this because they understand you can't just bang your head on a wall or gate to get in, you have to be sneaky, you have to understand attack vectors, hidden spots, distractions etc etc but it is more than possible to cap a keep with 5 people, I did it the other day with 4 random people AND they had 3 defenders. One thing I should also note, as you are talking about lord scaling. 5 people is preferred over a zerg for killing a tower lord, 1 person or 5, the scaling is the same, however a zerg of 30+ people will scale a good deal and the 5 man team should kill the lord before the 30 man team does, if you don't, again, you need to look at your builds and figure out why you do no damage, because you are doing something wrong.
  17. > @"Evil.1390" said: > I wouldn't mind them testing this with the previous Guild Wars Game, that has been completed for the most part. It would be easier to implement as its only one skill bar to deal with and skills. Not that it would be easy but would be love to try this on console. Loved Guild Wars and would love to experience again on console but its only a wish or dream at this point. haha. Could be good for each expansion to come out slowly as well if all goes to there plans with the first part. :) just a thought and idea. People need to understand that control, such as how much you have to use on a skill bar has NOTHING to do with porting the game to consoles. GW1 and GW2 are based on the same game engine, meaning porting either over is going to be close to the same amount of work. Anet also looked into porting GW2 over to xbox of the time, as in, they had a team working on it, it is also assumed this is another reason GW2 stuck to the same in house engine as it's built on the DX9 API, which the xbox of the time used a slightly modded version of DX9, meaning porting over would be easier vs back porting from a newer game engine based on DX11. However, console releases are not like PC release. Anyone can come out with a game on PC, on console however you have to get approved by the console mfg and licensed through them, most consoles these days make money on game sales, and in some cases actually lose money on selling the actual console, much like shaving razors, they sell the handle for cheap or almost give them away because they sell the refills for high cost and know if they can "get you", you will be a repeat buyer. In this case with consoles, it's buying more games on the platform and micro transactions in games, that they also get a cut of. All of this has requirements for a game, consoles want a "user experience" and feels fluid from game to game, as such there are performance metrics games have to meet to release on a given console. This means higher optimization is needed for the game and anet probably quickly realized the work and money needed to hit those metrics with limited HW of consoles was just not worth it. You are probably saying "worth it?". Yes, MMOs as a whole have always done HORRIBLE on consoles, MMOs market is PC, even once console got to the point you could use a mouse and KB on them, MMOs have still done very poorly on consoles. As such, lots of work and money + low sales = no ROI. And anet being a business means no console port. Big time for a game as old as GW2, at this point to release on the new consoles would mean a total engine re write and that time/money would be far better put into a GW3 or a new game, because it would also mean having two development teams, as you now have TWO product steams of the same game that need to be patched and updated. TLDR: Not going to happen.
  18. No port, thanks. I rather the leap because you can combo fields, which my build depends on. What GS needs is as others have said, a dmg buff, fix how glitchy GS2 is in casting, fix the leap that at times does not track right, or you leap clear through someone that you hit or some times you just leap in place and don't move, or the random tracking at times of GS5 that will not hit someone I am standing right next to, but just fly up into the air. If anything, add evade to the leap, much like warrior has on it's GS.

I have been in this same spot, fighting comped party groups of 4-5 players solo, I held one off for an hour and the majority of the time I was dropping participation outside of about half way into it I killed one cata they had, I would glide from lords to the ruins DPS and then glide off, could never get a kill as they had a FB, ele, engi and necro, it was non-stopped barrier and healing. Yet I get less participation from that than if I had just gone and killed a single sentry. I think combat with other players should stop the loss of participation, even if you die, as most of the time in these situations you are working harder than the fights you win or steamroll the other side in. It's not like WvW is a crazy loot farm anyway, defending and fighting actual players should have a much greater impact on rewards than ktraining the same undefended paper tower for the 10th time. I know I am dreaming here though, as this will never happen.

Keep objectives as it is but make the walls look cooler, add more graphics for different percentages of damaged walls. > > Update guards from base skins possibly to something thematic. Make lords bigger, and maybe less humanoid model, so people can click them easier for HP and tell apart from players. My opinion is that the skills can stay the same and simple but things like lord horn should have better tells. Maybe make Ogrewatch have actual Ogre models for guards and Quentin Hyleks, etc. But with simple skills, none of that desert bl evade/block pointless stuff. You can also design towers with the races architecture. Skritt architecture tower, or a dredge one with massive gong above lords room that rings whenever the tower flips (EotM flashbacks, heh). > > We know there aren't many, if any, WvW devs, but at least the PvE graphic lads should be able to do this for us. > > This has been suggested over and over and over and over and over again, it's not going to happen. There were even suggestions to make money off of it, as it could be a gem store item for guilds. Claim a structure and you could place "decorations" in them. Walls, gates etc etc that are functional remain in the same places, however they would be skinned over with whatever you pick from a type of wardrobe panel but for structures. This could also be done for siege, as custom guild siege has also been requested for just as long. Again, these would be sold as gem store unlocks, so it would have been something they would have actually made money from. However, it's been some time ago that WvW was abandoned, so I would not count on it.
  22. Lots of myths going on in here. FPS games do not need high DPI, and any pro player will probably be UNDER 800DPI and quite a few around 400DPI. DPI etc are marketing terms just like "laser" mice. I will quote myself from another post like this one from a few weeks ago: > @"TinkTinkPOOF.9201" said: > I will let you in on a special gaming secret....High DPI doesn't do anything for you. It took off because it became a marketing term, I mean it's a mouse...How do you market it over some other mouse? Also optical mice were still new at the time and ball mice were still the most used mouse. Then laser mice came out, and those have to be even better because LASEEEERRRRSSS!!! Which doesn't matter, because laser mice are actually optical mice, but rather than using an IR LED, they use a laser, the optical sensor that is used is often the same. What changes is that lasers tend to be more sensitive to surface type, and often do much better on hard surface mouse pads and worse on soft (cloth) or textured pads. So the choice of mouse surface can have a bigger impact on feel and performance than IR LED vs Laser ever will. > > Matter of fact, most pro FPS gamers actually run very low DPI or sense, often under 800 DPI, which really throws out the other reason people think they need high DPI, which is accuracy. However even high DPI mice, such as those claiming not 800 DPI, but 8,000+ DPI often don't have a CMOS that have pixels that small, rather it's often from subdividing the pixels, which can actually cause issues in performance, but "marketing". Think cameras, big time cell phone cameras, where it's common to have 40+ MP cameras.....That still can't compete with a Google Pixels 12MP camera. Don't buy into marketing, adjust your DPI or sense to get the feel you are looking for, you are making yourself suffer for no reason. > > TLDR; Lower your DPI.
