A couple days ago I worked my way through the dozen-long list and every single one was full except the last, and clicking Join on the last didn't do anything for some reason. That's a problem in my view. Color coding full maps makes a lot of sense.

  2. Since the people who like this change say they do a deposit all followed by a compact how about having one button that, depending on an option setting, either deposits all or deposit all _and_ compact. If the user chooses for the button to only deposit all then compact can appear in the drop down menu. Actually a option to specify whether compact appears as a button or in the menu is probably best as there may be people who only compact after deposit some of the time, who knows.

But the requests for adding a deposit all button that I have noticed were for the deposit all button to be accessible from the main screen so you don't have to open the inventory panel and obscure your entire screen in order to do a deposit all when, in the middle of a battle, you get the "you are encumbered" notice.

I can see the utility in making deposit all more visible, I didn't know about it until I read about it in the forums. Something that everyone uses regularly probably shouldn't be hidden in a menu.

  3. For me the best option would be to move the "deposit all" button somewhere on the main screen so that I don't have to open the inventory panel in order to use it. Almost anywhere would be okay. If I have to open the inventory panel the difference between the button and the menu item is very little. Other people may feel differently but for me an accidental "deposit all" is never a problem. I never use compact because I organize things as I want them so compact is a big pain to do accidentally.

  4. I agree that some of the stuff is insanely expensive, luckily for me I don't desperately want those things. I got a Royal Flame weapon as a drop, and once I checked it out I bought three more, way way cooler than a hat that makes you bald, in my opinion. Just doing the dailies gets you the haunted weapons, which allows you to buy the demon-haunted weapons for 4 cobs, again, way way cooler than hats imho. And the incredible amount of consumables that drop are perfect for someone getting into crafting ascended food.

  5. I would like a ghost mode where you can follow a group through the raid but can't affect anything or interfere in any way. In contrast to a video of a raid you can move around to view things as you like. Or you could call it cameraman mode so you could capture things from the best vantage points and make a cool video. Consent of the party would be required of course.

And on top of that the BL plot is only available a few times a year.

I'm not sure why the felt they had to make this so expensive, with the needed ascended ingots and planks, heat stones, and required 5g purchases, if the end result is so useless. I guess you do end up with the additional crafting level, and I was finally able to get rid of all the junk food that came out of the prior leveling process. And I've got something to do with the stack of ghost strawberries I've accumulated. Who thought "10% magic find while under the effect of a boon" was anything but trash anyway?

Oh well, live and learn. Anyone thinking of doing this achievement look carefully at the costs and benefits before doing so.

    > Another problem is all those annoying listings that are below the minimum sell price so they cannot be bought and when you try to sell the same item you have to manually alter the sale price and often times the amount as well which is just so kitten annoying after years and years of having to do it.

    > Anet needs to purge all these bogus TP listings at some point.. it's long overdue.

THIS! And it wouldn't be hard at all for them to do.

  8. After earning the home garden plot from the gourmet training achievement I started looking at how to use it. It seems like it is limited to growing varietal plants, and that you need to salvage/compost tons of food in order to make the seed pouch, which only provides one gathering before you are back to scratch. It seems to be pretty useless without the Black Lion garden plot that provides a large variety of perpetual seed pouches for free. So, does anyone actually use the achievement garden plot without having the BL plot? If so, what do you do with it?

  9. I've never done raids but I think if there were an easy/tutorial/rehearsal mode that allowed you to learn the mechanics before trying to do the normal mode that would make it easier for people to start doing raids and therefore perhaps increase the number of people doing raids, making everyone happier. This easy mode doesn't necessarily need to have significant loot if its just a way to ease people into doing raids. If it is meant to be an alternative to normal difficulty raids it gets more complicated.

  10. @"kharmin.7683" in the worst case scenario for the OP, sell the statuettes at the same price as the keys. People who really want something that can only be bought with statuettes will then have a way to do it, and there won't be any lost revenue. To be a little fairer they could make a bundle where you get some other fixed reward(s) with the statuette, e.g. a booster maybe, so there's no gamble involved. Hopefully people who don't want to support gambling would be able to buy these even where there aren't any laws. A lot of people really hate RNG so you might actually expand your sales. I for one might buy it, and I won't buy keys.

  11. You can make some gold with "can only be done once a day" things like ecto refinement and charged quartz crystals. Crafting is non-violent so get to the high levels in crafting, e.g. a level 450 leather crafter can ecto refine bolts of damask, elonian leather squares, and lumps of mithrillium once a day. Use those to craft damask patches and deldrimor steel ingots, which can be sold at a good profit on the trading post. The price of damask patches appears to have fallen from when I last looked but you can sell deldrimor steel ingots at a profit of about 1.5 gold if you buy all the materials on the trading post, if you use your own materials the profit is higher. You can turn 25 quartz crystals into a charged quartz crystal once a day and then make a number of profitable items like pieces of skyscale food or warming stones. There is a rich crystal quartz node in Crystal Oasis that you can mine for 10 crystals per day per character you mine it with so with a few characters there you will never be short of them.

Use https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator to find out how much profit you can make from any given crafted item. Stormcaller cores use a charged crystal and give a profit of over a gold.

Anyway, this kind of crafting doesn't involve killing things and doesn't take much time per day, and lets you use your own materials, which avoids the selling tax on the trading post.

While the Halloween Labyrinth is one big massacre, you can also get trick or treat bags from racing a mount at the raceway, no killing involved, and you can just do the time trials if you don't want to actually race. And you can "rent" mounts if you don't already have them.

  12. Personally I am taking the view that they have promised an expansion and that that naturally consumes a lot of resources without visible results until the expansion is released. I have no idea whether an expansion will deliver what PvP players want, as I don't PvP except for a bit of WvW, but a lot of people clamored for a new expansion and it seems unfair to fault them for putting their resources there.

As an alternative to buying gems, which might send the signal that you want more cosmetic content, maybe you should buy copies of the expansions, maybe one copy a month or something. If you gift them to non-players you might even increase the player-base. If all the PvP players did that it would send a signal, although I'm dubious that many people will actually dole out the cash when the time came.

There was a Chinese novel/series/movie about a game where there was an independent players organization that organized seasonal matches and play offs, if such a thing existed for PvP/WvW and it succeed in bringing in players and interest, it might make the company more interested in investing in that area, and would give players at least a little bit of agency. Not being a PvP player I don't know if there are any barriers to setting up your own competitions. A subscription/membership fee to such an organization would be more under your control and if it was successful might get you influence with the company.

Sorry if these ideas are impractical or have already been discussed many times, I'm a relative newbie.

  13. According to the wiki page for "Participation" you need to do damage of 5-10% of the target's health to get participation/loot. I checked a couple of the small creatures, a spider and a skeleton, and they were taking around 15,000 to 16,000 to kill, so 1,500-1,600 to get 10% and ensure participation. This was me by myself, I don't know how scaling works, presumably it just gets higher. So the fellow squad member that told me "Anything over 400 is ripping off your squad mates" didn't have it quite right.

  14. For me the problem is not the amount of damage you have to do to him but the damage he does to you in an instant. If you aren't at full health he'll insta-down you. And the torment that he deals out, even if you are on the other side of a wall, is nasty, you can't even run away. YMMV depending on class and build.

  15. In the "Insanely low bag count" thread they say there is a minimum amount of damage you have to do to get credit, here it says 1 damage is as good as 1000, does anyone know if there is a minimum damage and what that minimum is?

Also, the "do minimum damage" approach doesn't apply to single large targets that take a long time to down does it?

Sorry for the newbie questions, I just don't want to upset the other squad members.
