As an ele main, I will always see condi through the lens of "there is one or two builds I can play that counter condi and the rest are almost helpless to it; feelsunbalancedman". It is almost unquestioned knowledge at this point from anyone who doesn't main a condi build (and even some who do). Forgot I was on gw2 forums, my mistake. Most ppl in-game agree, most people here don't. It's kinda weird. Kinda seems like one side actually plays the game and the other doesn't. Idk. Not sure why I make these threads when I know the same people will come in to say the same things like every time ?

You can’t have one without the other. Agreed. Biased poll is biased (and is it wrong ?)

And EVERY other server can attest to that. I'm in a JQ Server as well and they were complaining about having to fight them last week. FC asked to not push them up to T1 so they didn't have to fight them (which I don't think they expected to drop to T2... lol), and so forth. Face it, when your server is nothing but SMC-humping kittens who love to spawn camp and play ONLY on EBG, no server wants to fight you. Sounds like someone's upset that mag has coordination within their pugs - often without even saying a word. I hated mag too before I was linked with them like half a year ago now. Changed my mind entirely. I realize now that it's just a hate bandwagon. Most of them are actually pretty chill and many have actual talent. Mag was the only link in the past two years that I've had where my wvw experience actually dramatically improved. They aren't even IN smc most of the time lmao. They just defend it when necessary and use it as a hub fighting far outside of it; the way it's meant to be used ... What's wrong with that lmao. They're bored and want fights, smc is a hotspot for action and they know that. Back on subject though; if you want them to leave you alone, take one of the above posters advice and swap bls lol. All but a scout or two will get bored and leave.

Same applies to speed runes. > > If everyone is a sonic, no1 will spend a full second on a field, sometimes they will even walk through it without taking any damage. Why do you guys think staff ele is deemed useless by strong groups (btw, not your group if you disagree)? Because it relies on fields. Staff ele useless deemed by "strong groups" You mean groups still living in 2017 who have never played staff weaver a day in their life or think that marauder is "just as good" as full zerk with eagle rune. Source: myself/my inflated ego Tune down superspeed? Tune down stealth, cc and condi too while you're at it, why nerf superspeed first?
  5. Hello, uncatchable mortar Zephyrite rune elixir near-perma-superspeed engi build player here The real issue imo is grenades; it's like anet's nerf actually made them stronger. Seriously. Before patch it wasn't a huge issue in WvW, post-patch it seems like grenades can 3-hit through a modest amount of toughness which is ridiculous. Mortar damage seems fine and if they're playing extremely defensively/running away constantly then just don't bother, they're too scared to duel.
  6. Burn Guard/DH is just 2018 fire weaver but with less steps. Fire weaver got nerfed. Where is burn guard's nerf? Been long enough.

I dodge right before the actual CC part (while the rev is casting it/displaying the animation, right before the release of the actual CC), like I would do with any other skill that is avoidable. It just goes right through my evade and doesn't care that I evaded. I am literally in evade frames when I get hit by the CC, almost every time, or as I push the evade button (and I know 110% for sure, for _sure_, that I pressed evade) my character does not evade (no endurance used, but I DEFINITELY pressed the key --- for sure pressed it, absolute certainty that I pressed it well before the CC) and just gets hit by it. It feels like lag, but I'm not lagging, no lag spikes, ping is fine, only happens with this rev CC, nothing else. I'll try to get a video of it when I can, hdd is full from 2 months of neglecting to edit anything. But it's also kind of difficult to prove with a video because often times no endurance is used, but I know for 100% sure that I did in fact press the dodge key before the CC. It just seems to negate my dodge key press whenever a rev uses this. I let my thumb rest on my dodge key and am a guitarist IRL I would know if my fingers are moving where they shouldn't be - I am definitely pressing dodge at the right moment, and my character is not dodging. It feels like lag, but I'm not lagging.
  8. +1 to OP Most of them won't understand. They think anything unconventional is not viable because nobody dares to think outside the box anymore in this game. Same with the meta. Plenty of options for interesting and hard to defeat guild comps but people just default to the ole firebrand scourge scourge plus whatever 'meta'. Don't expect them to understand They won't It is entirely possible to textmand effectively. I have done it myself and seen others. Make good tactical decisions, have good movement skills, play heal scrapper or something that can hard-carry pugs through raw healing power and type quickly. Really not that hard. But that goes against the norm so everyone will just attack you for challenging their beliefs.

They make you play defense. > They make elementalist cry about them. > **Can't be meta if you have a weakness** Honestly man, this post & your last as well, you just make me giggle. Your bias is so evident in everything you type that I don't even see a point in trying to change your mind. > @"FrownyClown.8402" said: > Any asset ele brings to a group another profession can provide to a larger extent. Its a pretty flexible profession but comps require optimization of roles. Ele can do a lot of different things, but nothing better than other professions. Its good, but doesnt fit anywhere. Nerf boon durations and skills that heal others and ele would have more value with access to water fields and cc. They were good because they did damage on top of spreading out the enemy zerg so your team can single out stragglers. They were also a reliable source of cleave damage to secure kills from afar. Glad you appreciate the more subtle aspects of ele in WvW but I'm surprised with your first remark. Ele does better damage than any other profession in WvW zergs. I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise. That's not just my ele-main bias. It's true. Has been true for a looooong time. Not everyone has realized it yet, but it's been true and still is.
  10. > @"Jski.6180" said: >snip > The "get gud" is what kills weaver from the meta and will always hold it back as an meta class vs the other ranged dmg classes in wvw. > > In a boon base meta thoughts who get the most out of the boons (classes who can be get them in normal combat as well as being able to translate boons into detect dmg boots to the other team) or who can counter the boons (classes who can strip boons or make boons less likely to be reapplied) are the meta. Ele is just not that class. It's not just about boons though, man. Can't tell you how many times I've fought as a pug without boons, joined the squad after the fight and seen that I still got top damage. Staff Weaver doesn't really need boons. People get tunnel vision when they talk about the WvW meta because they don't question things or desire to innovate, they just go off of what has always been known: hybrid damage/support, support, boons, strips, cleanses etc.. same old boring meta formula because we're afraid of the unknown. Those are just symptoms of a good meta comp in general, not the be-all-end-all meta formula. Add some staff weavers who know their stuff to your comps. See the improvements...

GOOD HP, GOOD DEFENSE, GOOD OFFENSE. > That sounds like a guardian to me, a Weaver is nowhere near what is meta. That's not how meta builds work in any group-oriented game. If it was then we would just see blobs of cele firebrands all the time and nothing else. <__< I've been saying this since I started playing Weaver and I'llllll sssAAAY it aGAIN _just because some of us can't, doesn't mean that those of us who can shouldn't._

This means its harder to support an ele because of this so you cant count on shor... > > That is what holding weaver and realty all eles from wvw meta this need for mobile to stay alive and mobile alone. This is partly why classes like thf also are not in the meta you cant be in the melee ball when pushing nor can you be in the range ball when kiteing. I don't really understand the problem. If you're an experienced staff weaver & good with your hands/video games in general it's not hard to do top deeps while mobilizing around the tag in ways that make sense and keep you alive for the most part (save for the odd bad luck, mistake etc). Staff Weaver is not a casual build. Can't play it casually and expect it to feel meta. It's impossible to talk about this without sounding like I'm condescending/telling everyone to git gud. This is a video game on the internet, I have absolutely no ego in this game anymore but that being said -- this is really what the issue here is. It's just a L2P issue. Staff weaver is make it or break it. It won't be meta when you're just starting out on it. It won't be meta if you don't run full glass because you'll just do suboptimal dmg with all the weaknesses of ele. You're either at 110% effort and topping the meters nearly flawlessly or you're already downed or doing no significant damage. That's just what Staff Weaver is right now (and has been for awhile). Think of it like a Dark Souls speed run vs a 100% dark souls _playthrough_. You can speed-run the game with minimal armour/weapons - seemingly impossible but actually _very_ possible and _very_ effective ... or you can just do a casual playthrough and get casual playthrough results. That's just what Staff Weaver is right now (and has been for awhile). and to the inevitable question of "why bother putting in so much effort", I donno, why do people do dark souls speedruns? It's fun for them, and some people just have really fast fingers. Why do some people play chords on acoustic guitars, and other people shred at 160bpm doing 8-string sweeps? Because it's fun and some people can do that. But imagine trying to play 8 string sweeps as a beginner guitarist using a 6-string acoustic; yeah that's not gonna feel or sound very good! Lol! Likewise staff weaver will never feel meta unless you gain a passion for it, run the correct build (full glass), mobilize at the right times, dodge at the right times, predict everything with some degree of accuracy, heal up pre-emptively when you know a buttload of retal is coming, etc ..
  13. Anyone who says X class/build can outdps a Weaver just hasn't played enough Weaver. Or they're "one of those". You know, the "it doesn't work when I play Weaver and I've been playing for a long time, so it doesn't work for everyone else too" kind of guy. Staff Weaver has been top of the chart if played correctly for awhile, at least in the past 3 years. source: myself People who say it's too squishy have never played staff weaver. I play it full glass and often out-survive ministrel firebrands, no exaggeration. Position yourself/use movement skills better. edit: yes rallying is part of my rotation sometimes. Just the way she goes. It does happen sometimes but I almost never go down before the first 75% of the group as a _full glass_ staff weaver. In this thread: people who don't play Weaver discuss Weaver > @"anonymous.7812" said: > Yeah staff Weavers suck, please buff them! They definitely do really really low DPS and definitely need many buffs. Thanks Arenanet! Well said. It's just awful playing staff weaver, not meta whatsoever, please give us more buffs to please the W-keyers and make my favourite zergling build literally god-mode. > @"kamikharzeeh.8016" said: > dps staff weaver has always been there. u just have to play it very glassy, and therefore u need quick fingers to make it worth its spot on the map. many weavers i see just go too close towards the enemy groups and then just explode thaha. > > weaver has a ton of combos in its skillset. kinda offense-bomb help combined with a tertiary support class, pretty good. it doesn't really need to be in the squad to do its job, as a selfish dps satellite you have to keep yourself up. it's a better pug than offmeta classes like thief and ranger, bc it has better aoe. > +1

You aren't going to convince the devs to change professions in this game for duels, especially in the wvw section. And I highly doubt the devs will change something because players aren't willing to make adjustments to their builds using the "stuff" they already put in game for players to use. See... you type a lot of words, but you don't really say much. You're not open to new information. You're not willing to change your mind about druid. It's just stupidly op.
