I love the Radeon Vii, especially the vram space.

you might need to use this driver : win10-64bit-radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-edition-19.5.2-june3

Also the latest driver for 2020 are stable.

As a side note, it could be that the power to the Radeon Vii isn't enough. Vega architecture can be Undervolted for better temps and performance. But, if your overclocking the Power demanded by it is pretty high. a 850w was needed for me to OC a Vega 64 then a 1000w psu was needed for a CF Vega 64.

Radeon Vii runs good with the 1000w PSU but the Corsair RM850x good enough for a single Vega gpu. it could just be the enclosure not offering enough power or the Case enclosure isn't efficient for temps on the Radeon Vii.

You can undervolt the Radeon Vii to about 1000mv(990mv if lucky) to help with temps and performance without increasing the power limit nor Core Clocks. You need to increase the Fan Curve to about 37-40% throughout first half of the curve then set the max to about 80-100% on load.

Was talking to my big brother about upgrading my cheap laptops Ram from 4gb to 16gb ddr4 and realized that i forgot to test a comparison of Vram vs Ram usage between 4k resolution and 1080p resolution.

so here's a picture of both 4k screenshot and 1080p screenshot combined to show you what is the differences and FPS hit:

    ![](http://i65.tinypic.com/i20u1i.jpg "")

*Note this is on my r7 1700 with CF Vega 64s with cheap Ram.

    http://i68.tinypic.com/308gr3n.jpg

But, this will give you a rough idea of how the RAM and vRam is effected.

    3840x2160 = 1,859mb of vRam(GPU, Graphics card memory usage) and 8,940mb of Ram(System Memory)

    1920x1080= 1,491mb of vRam(GPU) and 8,765mb of Ram(System Memory)

Note: System Memory usage usually hits max of 9000mb(i had Screenshot of 10,000mb before though) and Max I've seen for GPU is 2,500mb of vRam.

So if Playing at MAX settings, you should have a minimum of 8gb($40-60) but seeing as prices have been dropping just go 16gb($70-100) and forget about it. On the graphics card side of things if find one with a 3gb of vRam you should be good. most models even older generations of GPU's which had 3gb models where very capable and should still be with GW2.(except r7 240 4gb, or cheap nvidia GT710+ series heard rumors there's a 4gb variant also these won't run max settings)

Either way just thought this would be interesting.

I tried so hard to like it for months but it was too instanced and the story missions were too hard (or I was just bad lol) so these things made me frustrated. But then GW2 was released, I fell in love with it and I've been playing it since beta, 10k+ hours.

    >

    > I'm with you. After I quit WoW back in 2010 I grabbed a copy of GW1 as I'd heard GW2 was in the pipeline. I tried to get into it, but the instanced content, the lack of jumping, as well as a few other things caused me to lose interest in it pretty quickly. I then swore off MMOs for 7 years, only to give WoW a try once more in December 2017, only to quit it again (for good) in Feburary 2018, which is when I started GW2. Now I play this game exclusively (and far too much) but the lore has intrigued me enough to dig up my GW1 CD and go back in time, as it were.

    >

    > @ OP. Times are different, it isn't just the game. I remember being in an active guild/clan for Team Fortress Classic (a mod to the original Half Life, based on the original TF mod for Quake) where people in an online PvP FPS weren't complete kittenheads, and treated each other with respect. I was there for when Counter Strike launched its beta, and have subsequently seen the FPS multiplayer community degenerate to the cesspool it is today. Same with MMOs. When I first was playing WoW in 2007, people were friendly, helpful and kind to new players. The servers had great communities, everyone knew everyone, and if you were struggling with something, people offered to help. Within a few short years such players were derided as filthy casuals and told to git gud. Ironically even today GW2 players treat each other (for the most part) the same as I described WoW 11 years ago, which is a major reason why I love this game so much.

    >

    > No with a megaserver it's hard to iron out an identity. In WvW there really are no servers anymore, and with the Alliance system forthcoming, they will be gone completely. But make the best of what we do have, because I'm sad to say that the days you remember are forever gone, and will never return no matter who makes what game. Our online world is a reflection of the real world, and when you compare what 2019 looks like to 2007, it isn't hard to realize that those "good days" are behind us, so focus instead on moving forward and making the best world you can.

....This... This... This ....is.... Beautiful...A true but sad Story. i'm sure each reader understands your feeling. Did a beautiful job of expressing your feelings. The problem is... These aren't like the good times... Time waits for noone, trends and habits change throughout time. What was once the way for a player to interact inside a MMO world... Has sadly changed. i recommend you look for a Semi RP group. not many people can roll with some RP at a moments notice, lol. Actually, i believe that is where you will meet these people you search for. Go into the World of Tyria... Fight as if you were really living the life... You will find your Place my Fellow Commander.

    https://www.anandtech.com/show/13332/amd-athlon-200ge-55-usd

it's a 2core 4 threads, but i did recently look at benchmarks and seems to be behind the 1200/2200g quad cores by 20-40fps(Ouch). Guess they really did limit it by having it locked, No Overclocking :(

Will wait for deals from Frys but, definitely time to upgrade/sidegrade depends.(Lesser noise and heat)

I hear you on the Gear, I originally had a fx8370 with a rx580 but sold the rx 580 and gave the pc build to my little brother.

Was suppose to get a RX Vega 56 but at the time the mining craze happened and prices skyrocketed. so never bought, this build was just to get me gaming again, but happened to get surprised by the performance of the combo. but like i was telling moonstarmac.4603 , i was originally supposed to have kept the Ryzen 5 1600 build but i couldn't get the temps throughout pc case and parts to a reasonable level.(I went for fancy look, instead of airflow)

I'm curious what the new AMD Athlon 200Ge would score with a rx570 4gb model. still be like a $400-$600 to build Depending if reuse parts, i feel like should score the same as my current setup.

It was to talk about Playing Guild Wars 2 at 4k Resolution like Jbrother.1340 said. Also to compare performance to other guys, Basically asking for opinions on my build and performance and Updating on my goal for maxing out this build.

    Thanks, for defending.

  7. So saw that my video quality on cell was set to 480p but, supports 720p so redid video.

Note, i barely Bios flashed my gpu(Like 30-40min ago) from a R9 380 to R9 380x(Gained 40mhz on core and 50mhz on memory then OC to 1100mhzcore and 1625mhz memory, Much more stable now at higher clocks)

So here's the updated Video, the increase in temps i say is from higher clocks and higher ambient temps right now.

And here's the outside view of PC rig

I forgot to do the benchmark while recording, so redid the walk around

This is what FRAPS showed in a 300second benchmark on Guild Wars 2(same settings same Grove areas)

    Min 8, Max 31, Avg 16.790

This with OC gpu, didn't improve FPS Average:

Yeah, AMD just released a new update. I've been wanting to try a newer monitor with the Display port heard it transfers video data faster. Yeah i need to redo the inside of case as well, the front intake side has tiny vents, Gamer Nexus said for these kinds of cases to create a 1" gap on the sides of front panel to create enough airflow. Love your rig and performance though, have new goals :D

  8. > @"moonstarmac.4603" said:

    > For what you have that isn't bad. My R5 1600X, RX 470, and 16G DDR4 @ 3000 pulls that in 1440 High/Ultra settings. 15-20ish in major metas, no stuttering.

    >

    >

I like how you adjust setting on the fly, i can't do that, i have to pause. Found it interesting, as soon as you checked the box for the "lod" limit of particles; you gained 5fps instantly and seemed to go from 5-8fps boost. although i did see you uncheck it later and seemed to not effect FPS.

I find it insane, that you have it set high/ultra settings and still get good fps(well, compared to mine, lol ). If i remember correctly, "Super Sampling" doubles the Resolution rendering, then scales it to your proper Screen resolution. i believe your technically rendering at 4k right, then it's scaling it to your 1440p Correct?

Loved the ending of the 2nd video... The wave, lol. i was about to ask for temps too, saw you used the Stats on it this time. Will hopefully build a new ryzen build again. your video's having me anxious to try again.

I built a R5 1600 16gb 2666mhz(set to 2800mhz) but i didn't like the build so returned the parts(i was building up heat...like a lot, i blame the PC case though, so will redo in future)

I did this video since it seemed someone on the Facebook, wanted me to raise details but, i can't go higher it increases the frameskips on recording.

Some suggested i record a WvW fight and To go to the Grove. i limited the fps to 30fps to match the recording in hopes to reduce the frameskips . I save the Raw recordings at 4k resolution. youtube and twitch reduce them to 1080p.

here's the new one. The settings are shown at 1:07 mark.(set Quality settings on video to 1080p)

  9. Note: the frame skips you see are from the recording software(When Encoding overloads a bit) actual gameplay is smooth. also, i can go higher on graphics settings but then i can't record as the GPU is overloaded(From both rendering gameplay and encoding the recording).

Here's the Video @4k resolution. i ghetto rigged a cpu cooler onto the gpu though, lol.

Please notice the Load times, this is old CPU and GPU, glad they can still do very good on Guild Wars 2.

fx 6300 oc to 3.9ghz(boost OFF) set mostly through Bus speed(FX-series get good boost from this).

8GB (X2 4GB) 1600mhz ddr3(set to 1500mhz, once again due to bus speed being raised)

R9 380 Sapphire Nitro+ edition Disassembled and rigged with 360mm Corsair cpu cooler 1110mhz core & 1600mhz Memory(Gonna start re-evaluate the Overclock since Watercooled)

Corsair 650W PSU(Think it was a bronze, think i may upgrade to 850w)

Win10 on cheapest 120gb SSD from bestbuy.

This is the outside, showed the screenshot of temps after the game.

Character model limit and quality on highest, I get 45+ fps in Lion's Arch, 30+ fps in WvW/meta zergfest, and way above 60 fps anywhere else. Before the upgrade I had to set the limit/quality to lowest/low to be able to play at more than 5 fps in zergs.

    >

    > On the other hand, last year I upgraded my GPU from a GeForce 770 to a 1070, and there was no difference in the framerate.

Guess the CPU really is the culprit then. Thanks for data.

  11. I see, thanks for the info. I've been curious this whole time about it, i know it affects FPS a lot but, as some higher end guys mention, sometimes the CPU and GPU aren't maxed out but are limited. i actually agree with you XenoSpyro.1780 . That should be added to a later update, would help alot on the FPS outlook. Well, gonna share a video soon, hope it gets edited without glitches, wanted to show what my build could do at 4k resolution. i still feel like some people seem to believe it's a far reach build to make but it's doable. Well, to me 30fps is minimum for a respectable "it can do it" ,lol

Was curious so i can focus on the overclocks on the part that needed it more, as you will see my gpu is always at 100%.

  12. [https://twitch.tv/videos/311015099](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/311015099 "https://twitch.tv/videos/311015099")

    Fx6300 AM3+

    8gb ddr3

    R9 380

I lowered setting to capture that video at 4k resolution. but once, uploaded on Twitch it reduced itself to 720p.

Change the GTX 1050ti to a Rx 570 4gb ; if your gonna be paying that much for it.

Rx 570 More better Performance at same/similar price, Supports Freesync(match your monitor) and it will help enable VSP(Virtual Super Resolution) which you can then set your Resolution to 4k using said Monitor.

the Rx 570 about 10-15fps faster then my R9 380. I would show you my current in-game settings(no reflection, Anti-aliasing, post processing, shadow) but doing some stuff right now. I can run it in a mostly stable locked 30fps only drops to like 24fps in local Events and up to 8-12fps in 40+ groups. If i had my old MSI Gaming X Rx 580 8gb model... i'd be close to the 60fps mark. the Rx 570 should be enough to game at high settings and Record the gameplay if your into that.

I would stick with the 16gb ram kit, i tried to link the picture to the 40+ group, i maxed out the 8gb. I only hit 3,100MB Vram on my R9 380... Sooo guess your within range of the GPU... Sapphire makes a ITX version of the Rx570 in either 4gb or 8gb. P#**_11266-34-20G _**(Hard to get a new one though, 6-pin power by the way)

Not sure if i would stick with the Quad CPU though, Upcoming future Games are harsh on them now. maybe get one with the Hyperthreading ability. 4cores 8threads.

    **_GV-RX570GAMING-4GD_** (Cheapest Rx570 on pcpartlist; 8-pin i think) **$171**

    **_F4-2800C17D-16GIS_** (Cheapest Memory 16gb Aegis g.skill 2800mhz 2x 8gb) **$138**

Hope this info helps, Intels are more faster due to their better IPC performance, the closest AMD gotten to them is the lates Ryzen+ 2000 series. Not sure if cheaper but, you can check them out as well, their cheaper Ryzen 5 2500x 4core 8threads is coming soon too... You can check them out. https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-introduces-two-new-mid-range-ryzen-cpus-you-cant-buy-yet Would be compatible with the Ram kit i think.

Either way hope this helps you decide.

You are playing with a stat set that might be crippling your damage. Start replacing your Soldier's gear with some Marauder's(assuming you are using a power build), you may notice a difference. As you become better, you will eventually want to move towards more damage anyways. Start now, see if it helps.

ok, i will try Roam area for groups and look to find a guild that's ok with casual players(I'm gone sometimes for a good while). I will look into the fractals, Yeah, i mostly had Ferocity,Power, precision gear. Thanks, i will study up on the Breakbars.

IMO auric basin is much more forgiving and easy to navigate than VB (as long as you stay away from the western corridor). Also running down to stick your nose into the third map, just to unlock the mastery track, might be a good idea. Even if you want to save the map itself until later, the Nuhoch masteries can open up a lot of useful things.

  15. Actually the 4k support settings is already good. What we were all saying was as you said it needs better optimization by load balancing between the CPU and GPU(instead of having 75-85% of the load on the CPU), so that the stable/Constant 60fps setting can be achieved at 4k resolution(I think 720,1080,1440 have same problem). this in turn is for Anet to update the Game engine to support Said Dx11/12 API... Maybe Vulkan too? ;) .

PS: If set "power settings" to never drop below 90% processing power, this should help keep the CPU on constant vigilance, lol.

Actually, i believe if you reduce post processing, it reduces the CPU usage. All i see it do is go darker if i have it on low compared to high. High just seems to raise the brightness for me(Think it pre-caches the image correct?). i should find the video that explained the mechanics of the Graphic settings again.

    > Usually by the time you finish the personal story and LWS2 episodes you'll have some Exotic (orange colour) rated armour and/or weapons which will help more than just Rare (yellow), or even lower Masterwork (green). If you don't have at least Rare armour (helm, shoulders, chest, gloves, leggings, boots), some Rare Trinkets (backpiece, 2 accessories, 2 rings, and an amulet) and your weapons (preferably Rare or more), then you'll have a much bigger challenge, yes.

    >

    > However, it also depends on your class and the Stats of the armour, weapons, trinkets. If you're running full Berserker gear (Power, Precision, Ferocity) and have no Toughness or Vitality, you'll probably die a lot, yes. Same goes for something like Sinister (Condition Damage, Power, Precision). Having mostly Offensive gear can really help take down enemies fast, but if you don't know what you're doing and are just casually exploring a new zone with deadly monsters, you'll want to be better equipped for the journey.

    >

    > One last thing I'd suggest is getting some practice in with tough enemies in zones **before** Heart of Thorns maps. Those that come to mind would be the wildlife in Dry Top and the Mordrem in the Silverwastes. Some of the Risen group events and/or bosses/roaming bosses in Orr are also difficult and will help test how long you can survive, depending on your class and how you fight (spamming any skill off a cooldown, never using a skill because ya forgot - happens to us all).

    >

    > All in all, don't worry about dying a lot to the plant monsters; we've all tasted blood from them at one point. :)

    >

    > If you need Rare or Exotic gear, I'd do what you said and use the Black Lion Trading Post (aka the black market XD) and just buy the ones with stats you want. Usually a mix between offensive and defensive stat helps, but you can just experiment for now. :)

    > Just a tip, anything that costs over a few Gold is probably selling just for the Skin of the item and not the stat itself. Some skins costs dozens and even hundreds of gold! Wouldn't want to waste your money on something you may not have even wanted. XD

Thanks for the tips, i "naturally"(Grinding) leveled up my main Guardian to level 80. um, i just got regular gear or the green one you mentioned. Haven't done lws2, i will get to it. yeah, mostly focused on Ferocity, power and precision. will update for defense with Vitality and toughness. Actually i did have problems in the silverwaste and the area where risen are mostly at. After one of the updates while i was off(good couple of months)

The Fact, after returning my thoughts were "Wait , what do these skills do?... wait, why did i set it up like this?... wait, why do i have this gear?" didn't help.

thanks again for Tips i honestly didn't know this stuff,*nervous laugh*

*sees Youtube Video* Yes!!! That's exactly what has been happening to me in the maps.
