  1. As of tomorrow, this event will have broken for more days than working for some players. It represents the only Current game content - and was announced by Anet with much fanfare back on May 8th, though began to break May 27th.

As more and more players get caught in the 'permanently open boxes' issue, there is greater frustration. And despite one indirect announcement from the devs, we've had no schedule for a fix.

For those saying "_ Asking isn't going to bring faster results, or faster status updates_," - this forum is precisely where players come to express frustrations and concerns, something which Anet itself encourages. The length of this thread and the number of posters also testifies to concerns. This clearly needs fixing. It would be great to hear when that might be.

That's not correct tho. I'm on the third round which is now bugged for me. For each previous round, I followed the exact order of the repeatable achievement - so each chest for me is by default 10 days apart. And they're not opening. And as above, my issue began with chest 27.

    > Yes, this. I do not see any reason to believe that ANet wanted these to be uniformly available to people, but rather, in the same model as the Living Store episodes, something you got for free if, and only if, you were here at the time it launched. Afterwards, you pay one way or another for this.

Yes but.... Poor drop rates from BLCs are in turn a poor return for Anet. I certainly have no incentive to buy more boxes, knowing there's only a tiny chance of a drop, It's the same reason I don't play the lottery.

However, I *would* buy more unlimited tools for my characters if I had more glyphs - and enabling players to craft (even inferior) versions would likely make Anet more money in the long run.

  4. I really like the addition of glyphs to gathering tools - and it was a nice surprise to see them added not only to the unlimited tools but also to the one-time use ones. It’s also great that the drops vary by level and zone. In theory it’s a great incentive to up our gathering. And it should be a nice money earner for Anet too - by encouraging us to buy more unlimited tools.

But here’s the problem. The glyphs are only dropping as very rare items from Black Lion Chests. The resulting scarcity sees the most useful ones now selling in the TP for 750g (50% boost); 250g (leather) and 205g (tailoring.) That’s almost 1,000g per useful set.

I would love to equip all 10 of my characters with glyphs - but that would need an absurd amount of loot. In turn that means I’ve no incentive to buy more glyphs, or unlimited tools. So both Anet and myself are losing out.

Why not assign each of the 6 glyphs to a profession, and allow us to make account bound versions? Perhaps high end player-made glyphs (slightly inferior to BLC drops?) could only be used in unlimited tools - with less good ones in the trashier tools? Heck, why not incorporate glyph-making into craft leveling itself?

Glyphs are a great addition. But as things stand, the present scarcity-based system surely appears to be acting as a disincentive to their use.

  5. It's completely unacceptable that this hasn't been fixed 10 days into S4 ep2. Very buggy play. Impossible to progress if she dies at Jormag - and you make it a near certainty on some toons that she dies!

Quitting the zone in sheer frustration. Ungood that this was issued in such a broken form.

  6. A week in and prices have failed to drop as some predicted - they're still now at around 1g 5s per dumpling. So 525g for the achievement, even assuming there are enough on TP, which there are not. Currently enough just for two people to complete.

I've managed 4 from envelope drops so far. Based on that rate, it will take me about 50 years to complete the 25 AP.

Would be lovely to hear Anet's explanation for this silliness.

  7. Aeons ago I recall reading that BL chests were unaffected by personal luck ratings - to ensure all folk had an equal chance of bounty (or not) from the RNG gods. So I've always popped BL chests as I obtain keys.

However, I recently opened a batch of 30 BL chests while happening to have various decent luck buffs applied - and the results were quite a bit better than normal.

So was that simply chance? Or are BL chests indeed affected by our luck rating?

    > you cant really blame anet for this one...the people to blame are the idiots that pay this ridiculous price for them on the tp

    > that said they do have an insanely low drop rate

Yup, we can blame Anet as they designed this mess. With supplies of red dumplings so absurdly low, prices have now risen to 1g 60s on our TP - but with only around 500 in total available!

With the drop rate so low (around 1 or 2 per account max per day it seems) we'll either need 12 or so years to grind the 25 AP - or deeper and deeper pockets.

  9. The price for the dumplings is up 47% on day one, to 1g18s. There are less than 1,000 dumplings for sale on the entire AH at present.

Given the absurd rarity and the high numbers required for the AP, there's little indication that costs for the completed achievement will drop below 500-600 gold. And plenty to suggest prices will worsen.

  10. Unless my RNG sucked tonight they've made the drop rate rare. I opened around 50 envelopes with not one red steamed dumpling.

500 are needed for the 25 AP. Present AH price? About 80 silver each. 400 gold total.

So it would seem to be a deliberate and cynical gold sink. Lucky us.
