This is a useless argument. I could name thousands of things that have been added to the game that weren't necessary. The game itself isn't a necessity. The whole point of adding things to the game is to make the game more enjoyable to a significant subset of players. If they can make that work for the Warclaw, go for it.

  2. These kind of end of track chests have all of what this one has in addition to a choice of things related to the area they're named after. I wouldn't be opposed to one of those choices being some Memories of Otter. Fifty seems steep though, I wouldn't think more than 10. The Tribune weapons could be the other choices and maybe some amount of crystallized blood. There's an issue with the Otter achievement being locked behind two other achievements, so I don't see the Memories happening even when/if they fix this chest. The point of some of these tracks seems to be to offer an alternative to playing PvE which wouldn't work with Memories because you'd still need to PvE to unlock the 2 achievements.

Maybe throw in some of the resources required to craft the weapons instead.

This way they can make it as rare a drop as the other infusions, but keep the trading price within bounds of the trading post. Seems like a clever move to me.

    Here's some!

One thing I heard mentioned in the guild chat was about how the community will learn how to do the meta faster. Splitting up the zerg over the zones in the Tribunes phase to do them all at once was one of the things suggested that we, the players, could do to improve our clearing speed. The thing is though, this will never happen as long as people are aiming for Memories of Otter. Everyone wants to be there for every Tribune kill. A change in how these Memories are awarded might be something you want to consider as well.

  5. I'm taking my rest during the meta. Not lifting a finger until we're ready to cross the bridge. Fight the tribunes, get their chests. Participate in events that work toward achievements, just watch the rest. Don't bother with the chest hunt at the end. It's not how I want to play, but it's the only way I can stomach it.

Aren't most ANet employees based in the U.S.? Little chance of them coming over here this summer.

I don't intend to because I don't see the point. In the south, the special missions were useful to advance the legion tracks. You got new missions hard and fast and they gave lots of extra commendations. If I'm going to have to pay to get the commendations faster, I'll just buy them at the Quaestors and save myself the trouble of having to frantically compete for mission achievement credit with other people in the mad zerg that is the northern meta.

    > I don't mind the length specifically, but unlike Silverwastes, you can't just drop into it and either get it going or start halfway through. That's the benefit with SW and even something like Verdant Brink - you can start at any point during the meta, contributing as you go along or doing other things.

    >

    > This is something players have objected to before - having to start from scratch each time. At least with DS, it's fast paced and varies things up as you go along. This is just drags and the last fight is just tedious in comparison to boss fights that they were making at their peak. Even Dragonfall doesn't suffer like this does

    >

    > The first meta was fine. Not something I'd do regularly, but it did its job even if it's not the strongest map-wide-meta they've done. The second meta has moments, but is mostly a visually noisy zergfest with a boss fight that needs more emphasis on the mechanics. Combine the length with a lack of variety and interesting things to do and people lose motivation. They start afking the start or at various points and by the time you reach the Citadel and then the Claw, motivation and enthusiasm has drained away.

    >

    > There's a lot of maps crying out for player attention and a 90min+ meta from scratch which rarely deviates in mechanics and formula is a hard sell to keep going long term without either it declining or other maps suffering. Attention spans are not what they once were in gamers after all.

It's not an attention span thing at all for many people. We're looking at a meta here that takes longer than a lot of people want to or can spend on the game in a day.

    > The thing with Ryland seems out of nowhere but I think we're missing some backstory. Like it seems pretty obvious that this is all part of what Jormag wanted not Ryland, there's probably been a ton of behind the scenes manipulation going on with Jormag.

Ryland was never one of the good guys. He should've been killed on sight just for stealing Braham's bow. Anyone who believes differently has fallen victim to the very obvious emotional manipulation all through the story so far.

    > There was never a treaty with the renegades because like the human seperatists, they refused to come to the table to negotiate. Ryland did; even if it was insinscere it could potentially have worked even in the 'let's kill them all' attitude Smodur suddenly has: they come to the table, refuse terms, Smodur can go "Oh well. See everyone? They won't settle for a decent negotiation!"

    >

    > Instead he murders a prisoner because... he's bored with the negotiations that were potentially about to bear fruit?

But what is the point of negotiating with the leader of a warband of 2, one of which is already in captivity? Because he's the messiah and the entire war will grind to a halt because a traitor betrays his new faction as well? All the charr under Bangar will become turncoats because the leader of a failed warband becomes a turncoat? Absolute nonsense. If Smodur did anything wrong at all, it was humoring the irrational parents of a piece of excrement as long as he did.

  11. The whole track feels off, it's a copy/paste job from the LS season 4 tracks with some minor changes. It has Djinn and Awakened caches, desert crafting materials and even the strongboxes that did get a name change seem to contain the same loot as the strongboxes that appear in the same position as on the desert tracks.

    > Because in the scenario the OP mentioned, the PvP players would not be getting a lot of rewards. Those, according to his proposal, would have been attached to PvE metas, which the PvP players would _prevent_ from succeeding

The OP's wording doesn't restrict the better loot to PvE players.

    >

    > Leaders-especially ones that lead an entire nation-do not behave like that in public, especially in front of outsiders (not every player will be a charr). I simply cannot reconcile this Smodur with the one who's done peace treaties with humans.

    > I understand that time has passed since then but the shift in personality is so large I knew the moment I saw him acting like the stereotypical Bad General he was being set up for something unpleasent. He seemed to be openly antagonistic so many times to his own fellow charr and subordinates I was wondering if the writing was building up to a defection of his men, a coup or something equally drastic.

I wish people would stop judging charr by the standard of modern *human* sensibilities. Smodur negotiated peace treaties with humans because back then he was dealing with a party that was interested in a piece treaty. It doesn't work with fanatics and people who betrayed your own society mere months earlier. There was never a successful treaty with the Renegades, to illustrate the point. The whole business with Ryland and Cinder was a huge waste of time. Smodur knew that, he only mentioned it every time it came up. The only mischaracterisation in the last 2 episodes were all the other charr present in those meetings. (Rytlock and Crecia had an excuse, their cub was involved.)

Since I did not have 2+ hours to devote to doing the first meta ALL OVER AGAIN, I never got to it. Frankly I'm not feeling very inspired today either. We shouldn't have to re-play a previous episode's content to play the current one's.

    >

    > Having one long meta dependant on finishing another long meta is not the best of ideas - I don't think this will go down well

Yep, I've stopped playing Drizzlewood weeks ago because I was bored with the meta. Weeks before that, I stopped participating in the 40 chest run at the end for the same reason. I'm not at all inclined to start playing it again. I'll probably spend a few minutes trying to get into a map where the meta is in an advanced state whenever I log on, and find something else to do if that doesn't work out.

    > Please fix.

The 250 I bought (2 x 125) didn't trigger any reward at all. I assumed they were just lost because I didn't account for the possibility of them being split over the tracks as I've never used that option at all. I will try it again after the reset and pay close attentions to all tracks. Lottie probably already did that though, so I expect to see the same 4-way split result.

  16. The crafting recipes don't seem to make a lot of sense either, unless they're misrepresented on the wiki. There are no weapon parts in it. The greatsword and the axe use exactly the same ingredients. I'd say they all do but there's a bit of variation because there are a couple of different inscriptions used among the set. I suspect they were originally intended to have the tier 1 weapon as an ingredient instead of an inscription.
