Did you just read up to this point or did you care to read the whole thing?

The idea is to use your ability to reveal in order to proc conditions (or other effects) via traits, in this context, a F1 revealing your foe is a springboard for those traits to be meaningful. As such since pre-emptively revealing an enemy is pointless in a general manner, it become valuable in the case of this specific specialization.

Piling effects on top of reveal doesn't change the basic fact that the target-requiring reveal itself is pointless.

You might as well keep the regular Steal and pile the same effects onto it.

But I doubt Arenanet will make an elite specialization that piles even more onto F1.

The Trickery line already is full of it.

Pretty sure part of the complaints about stealth is that in case it goes south for the thief, it can disengage with help of long lasting stealth. Pre-applying reveal also denies stealth attacks and stealth activated traits, so it's not exactly "pointless" -...except against de.
