is Condi Scourge amazing again? 12kdps vs. Arabella o.O

I just installed a DPS meter and while running T3 fracs my preferred condi scourge build is consistently #1 or close to it in DPS, especially in cleave situations. Siren's Reef vs. Arabella Crowe, for instance, I was putting out 12kdps/sec, compared to 5 or 6k from the Reaper in my group.

Power Reaper should be doing 15-20k DPS with a relatively poor rotation, not 6k (Shroud #4 alone is +45k). Even most condi builds like Burn Guard and Master of Fires Berserker can exceed 10k DPS on just one condition alone, let alone on multiple conditions.

I've seen 18k Poison ticks on my Daredevil in instanced group content like Fractals.

So the answer is no, condi Scourge is still not that good. Even condi Reaper is better because of tankiness.

The _worse_ your group is the better condi scourge is for things that have lots of adds whether it is Siren's Reef or a strike mission such as Cold War.

If your group is good the condis don't tick long enough for scourge to be worthwhile ; the additional sustain from barriers and such isn't necessary. Also if the boss moves a lot torment is amplified (which is why you see 100cm with 2x condi RR aka renegade sometimes).

I don't believe in reapers for fractals because of life force generation and the downtime on shroud as well as low levels of hard CC. Holosmith is far more consistent and can be healed while in photon forge; staff daredevil is far more effortless; fresh air tempest has a far higher cleave.

The Arabella fight has various problems that the Reaper might have been afflicted with and you weren't.

That Reaper might have been blown off all the time by the AoE winds that ignore Stability.

They might have getting a lot of stuns from Arabella.

That Reaper might also have focussed on reviving downed party members over attacking Arabella.

And we also don't know what kind of Reaper build it was.

It might have just been terrible.

I’d consider it better in T4 than in T1-3. Most pug groups doing T4 are slow anyway and the enemy defence is higher at higher tiers (that favours condition builds).

It is viable also in low tier fractals, cause enemies are easier to kill, so optimising the group is less important.

Reaper is generally better than Scourge anyway, in most Fractals.

I am working off the assumption that it's an optimized group (HB, Alac and good dps) and in T4s. I said it's not good for fracs, didn't mean it's not viable. As others have said, Scourge shines better with a bad group.

I don't think making scourge worthwhile means you need a bad group. I think most groups just don't know how to adapt to off-healers because it's like Henry Ford's assembly line. People said Henry Ford made the assembly line to be more efficient, but he actually just made it because he thought most people were stupid and he wanted to give them jobs they could handle. "Elitist" builds that only do one thing are like that. Everyone knows polymaths are smarter than people who can only do one field and can't even make eye contact or bathe themselves without help. Generalist builds are the real elite builds like generalist people are the real elite people. However, specialist builds are perfectly viable and are lower effort because they don't require any communication between team members and everyone knows what everyone's going to do just by knowing "the rotation."

This doesn't mean scourge is better than reaper though. Reaper can be an intelligent and versatile class too even if it's possible to make really lazy reaper builds for open world content. It mostly just depends on whether you prefer reaping or scourging. I love the technical aspects of this game as much as anyone else but the technical aspects exist to help you realize your concepts, and if you can dream it, you can do it, after you get a lot of exotic/ascended/legendary gear, sigils, runes, levels, hero points, and all the prerequisite materials that you pragmatically need to realize your fantasy RPG dreams.
