Not only did my returning friends have to pay an additional $30 for the expansions on top of having to buy the core game before it was free, they also don't have free server transfers despite never transferring servers in their lifetime. Apparently this is intentional. People who created their account before 2015 never got free server transfers. The new players in our group were able to choose servers upon creating accounts and still have a free server transfer remaining. So the returning players are going to have to pay even more money if we have any hopes of playing wvw together. I'm just wondering why it's this unfair. Why do they have to basically buy the game 3 times order just to be able to play with friends, all because they created their account before 2015? Why isn't a free server transfer included in the standard $30 DLC pack rather than being given to new accounts only? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I know this, because I got two and I have created my first character shortly after the game was released. I paid the full 40 euros for the game back then. Hannelore.8153 Posted November 4, 2020 Share Posted November 4, 2020 Veteran players had to pay $60, $60 and $30 for the game ($150 total, not counting gems), so despite how it may seem that returning players have it bad, they're still in a far better position than vets were cost-wise. Though I guess one could argue that since vets got all Living World episodes for free as they were released while new and returning players have to buy most or all of LW, it balances out. I have 3 friends who made their accounts around the game's release. These 3 friends all just recently bought the expansions within the last 7 days. 0 out of the 3 received a free server transfer. Although honestly I wish there was an option to just have it bundled with the expansion, I happily paid and think they were worth it. I'm also okay with the free if log-in model since this is basically a "loyalty program" for players that stick around a bit. And you can merge if you want to play together. Although it's really strange if that's true. I always thought that everybody gets the first server change for free. The only fundamental difference between them is the time the account was created, so it makes 0 sense that older accounts don't get the same free server transfer upon buying the expansions. If you would prefer two, create a Play4Free account first, then transfer to another server when you upgrade it to a paid account. I know you're just trying be helpful but this is more of a feedback post. Like I said I'm not asking who gets what. I already know that. I'm also not expecting my friends to magically get gifted free server swaps. All I'm doing is questioning **why** existing paid accounts don't get free server swaps in the first place, and I'm suggesting that they should. It would make a lot more sense.
