Tyria Mysteries

Have you ever found when exploring, a strange place/thing not working, or without any sense? I make this thread to speak about all these mysteries around tyria, and I have discovered many of them. But this list isn't exhaustive, if you found some, tell it there! Note that players should be able to locate them.

I will class them into categories: Buildings / Asuran Gates / Doors and holes

 

Buildings

1"Aquabase Terror Seven" -> Mount Maelstrom at the south-east

A giant Underwater Lab-Complex made of Corridors and Huge Rooms but no Entrance. Severely guarded by Inquest. Strangely, Corridors are characters sized and rooms are huge enough.

2"Sorcerer's Castle" -> Kessex Hills at the south-east

A floating beautiful castle. Unaccessible, at proximity: an Arcane's Council Secret Base hidden in the mountain, but only exploitable through an instance. So the castle is one of the arcane's council HQ? Or simply a sorcerer.... Note: You can find another castle in the same style near Mad King Lab.

3"Rata Sum Empty Cell" -> Rata Sum Pacificator HQ

All of the cell are full apart one! You have to trigger an event to get in it as the last prisoner. Rata Sum is the only city where you can be jailed. Try things...

4"Infinity Coil Blue Area" -> Mount Maelstrom at the North-East

All colored Areas are finished; but the blue one is still under development: If you wait enough, you will see two guys from Inquest checking for malfunctions/Design errors of the area.

5"Hexfoundry's ceiling" -> Sparkfly Fen, South-East

The only spot in the whole tyria where Inquest/Asura Square and Hexagonal platforms are reversed to make a ceiling and light particules are used like this. A mysterious creature escaped, a breach in containment happened. But what creature?

Asuran Gates

6"Broken Inquest Gate" -> Brisban Wildlands, fort Vandal

If you ask the engineer near it, you will learn that Inquest Tried to copy an Asuran Gate but, they are no destination for this portal, strangely.

7"Never Finished Polymock Gate" -> Rata Sum, middle floor

Polymock arenas are actually empty, no NPC, no objects, just collisions like gorr's lab. And so the gate isn't functional too, a poor asura is on it since 5 years! He should be fired!

8"Abandoned Gate" -> Metrica Province, the anthill

At the extreme right, on the path, totally unusable one, like a ruin, with no NPC around to tell you what happened. Just a skritt.

9"Mysterious Twin gates" -> Metrica Province, at the right of Thaumanova Reactor

Two Blue Gates, accessible with springer. Functional, but no Teleport set. So can't use them. Behind them an useless flat black rectangle. Guarded By Inquest. Maybe an non-Referenced Inquest secret Lab, or linked to thaumanova.

Doors/Holes

10"The Third Dorm" -> Rata Sum, Deeper floor

Each college have a Dorm, Synergetic and Static ones are guarded by a monitor, who will told you why they are closed. But the Dynamic One have nobody in front of him. And have a strange black-transparent cube around the entrance.

11"Golemical Institute" -> Metrica Province, south

Can only be discovered with springer: You can see behind the golem holograms a hole which look like a corridor, but inaccessible.

12"Reinforced Door Always Closed" -> Metrica Province, south

A door with nothing behind her or maybe not?

13"Rata Sum Inquest Lab" -> Rata Sum, harbor.

Impossible to access to the deeper room of the lab.

14"Closed Lab 2" -> Rata Sum, Deeper floor

Totally modelised inside with collisions, but always closed without NPC.

Reacting to some things f your numbers.

2: this is the oldest mystery. It was one of the first things designed in GW1 (a quest leading there bares the magical number 1 in the dat-file), but never open for public. For gw2 the new owner relocated it, but still it remains a full mystery. I really love this one as it is the oldest mystery in Tyrian lore and imo should always remain a mystery.

 

4: the corners are linked to elder dragons. This one is reserved for the mysterious deep sea dragon. We only know his or her name starts with an s.

 

7: there is an assumed asura gate linked to it in the polymock arena. Due to jail time it is hard to visit. Unless you go to the asura council and bring some resurrection orbs to get below rata sum without going to jail.

 

13: this is accessible during an asura story (lvl 30) forging permissions. You’ll learn a lot bout it there.

14: this one was accesible during living world season one. I forgot all details (maybe it was something with the SAB)

If you mean the one with the Destroyers, I think that's a different gate you're thinking about.

I'd love some source for the statement they were planning a dungeon in the Wizard's Tower.

 

And that gate isn't in the Anthill - that gate is close to Desider Atum, SE past the potato farm.

Oh they have planned a good thing about the floating castle! But that is sad they don't work on dungeon anymore, I love them more than fractals.

And about 8, The gate is clearly at the right of anthrill in a cavern see picture, I'm not talking about the one you have to rebuilt and travel to collect data crystals.

The source...I don't know, I think I'm still beholden to the NDA I signed when I was part of the Alpha team back then.

Forget 8, I didn't look at the picture and just went based on the description...which apparently I somehow completely misread.
