PvP is dead but what are you guys doing to fix it?

It's not just the same people playing. Ranked is not what it used to be. "Hotjoin doesn't exist anymore" - everything is stagnant. No growth.

Why play more than 10-15 games per week in ranked ?

Why play unranked if the rewards are locked behind ranked ?

PPl would go to Hotjoin to farm Glory (960 was the highest, while winning offered 150) to unlock the finishers :P

Some ppl whined that bunkers in Ranked couldnt get that much glory .

Also whined that ppl didnt care about winning or loosing , but rather go for the kills , which promoted bad habits .

And that we should nerf the Hotjoins to increase the population in ranked , forcing ppl to care about it and form more teams

Also if egypt mesmers couldnt get in the 1st paid tournaments , they would make a posts that GW2 wont work because it dont have replay + freeze button + infrostarction

I'm not gonna deny that diversity didn't exist back in 2012 but it was better than what we have now. Since the trait revamp the PvP scenario has been seeing a huge decrease in numbers of active players. Then came HoT specs and everything went from bad to worse. Why do you guys still insist on promotting this sick meta? Shouldn't a profession be able to deal damage just like any other? Why certain professions do better than other in specific roles? - The pace which balance patches are delivered is very low, but when it hits, BAM, another meta. Always the same thing. And old people that once played PvP are not coming back because of this meta promotion. It's not healthy for the game and everyone knows it. But I don't see devs creating threads regarding this subject on the professions' forums. Where's the communication? (**If they once created this sort of discussion, please, let me know**).

That's how I feel when a balance patch hits.

I fear there aren't enough playtests to nerf the power creep.

Most I have to wait for a game to pop is about 5-7 minutes for ranked and that's gold/platinum.

Most I have to wait for unranked is about 2 minutes.

Population isn't dead.

PvP Mojo on the other hand, is long dead.

![](https://i.imgur.com/y6FImst.jpg "")

No attraction anymore, no competitiveness, no one looking to better themselves, most people run around the map in groups of 4 ganking and killing people off point. There's no essence anymore.

Pvp isn't dead, but it is technically not alive either. I can't pick a side in good faith.

There's a huge issue here in that if you make gameplay easy, you lose people willing to practice against players who can gain similar results with less effort and the skilled end of the playerbase dies, but if you make it too demanding the new/unskilled end dies because the pvp community is toxic and intolerant to people learning, even on unranked.

Pvp seems to be in a position where both of these are happening at once.

Dude why is it everywhere I go on PvP forums there is never a normal response.

It is literally something I would imagine on a soap opera and then rain clouds all around you. Sheesh, I understand, you hate the PvP scene, but that doesn't mean you have to be melodramatic everywhere. Just move on if you literally so unhappy that you have to receive a bootleg poem everywhere you go.

Actually WoW has proven to have the smallest PvP community even when they boasted to have the best PvP.

They were shown to only have about at least a 7-10 percent PvP population. They are going solely off of money already being made and expansions they were released. WoW literally is in the worse spot mmo PvP could ever be in.

Just wanted to put my two cents in there since you claimed gw2 was the smallest somehow.

LOL stalking you.

Sweetie, you ain't that special so don't worry about THAT. I don't even know you.

For people that regulate the forums, it's not rare to see the same people posting.

Like I used to see someone like Crinn, Morwath, or any of the other folk. You are just another forum user that regulates the forums. I just tend to see you QQing more than usual these days, so I thought I would comment on that.

My bad for interrupting your depressed party, I guess you can go continue that and keep being miserable.

/Shrug

People rather just inflicting this unsatisfied feeling to themselves instead of just leaving and play what they enjoy. But no, instead they rather fight other people and call them out for supposed 'stalking'. What a joke.

Okay. I can see this is going nowhere.

Have a good time bud, you're gonna need it. I'm gonna make myself some coffee and escort myself out of the QQ forums, because this is all what it is now. Bitter people and unhealthy attachments that can easily be cut off.

I remember those days when few players reached rank 50 and hotjoins were so populated with every kind of build and pvp was fun to play.

I used to play an MMO with 8 or less players playing the PVP there... The game had a player count of how many were queuing for a game and how many were already in a game. ***8 players***. During the game's release there were about 40 players everyday. That is dead. GW2 is nowhere near dead but it is getting there. There are probably still hundreds playing PVP daily, but the number is dropping because of subpar balance.

My point is, simply saying the same thing over and over is not going to get you anywhere. Burnfall and the same set of people have been doing for close to at least half a year, probably more if I actually didn't check the forums before this time now.

You all literally remind me of Helseth. An ESL player who literally left for Smite, realized he couldn't prosper in Smite, came back to GW2, had a rage fit on his stream about Anet deserving nothing. Left again and then soon enough came back. This is, at least, his THIRD time leaving and each time his behavior has gotten grossly worse.

That is the book definition of insanity of you want to be real technical. Expecting something different with using the same tactics. I am not advocating for Gw2 PVP, especially when my favorite class is practically unplayable.

But watching people literally keeping doing/saying the same thing over and over? How is that serious? I am trying to tell people it is better off for them to take a break, yet they STILL come back here and do the SAME thing. Someone commented it sounds like an addiction, or maybe it is nostalgic attachment, but saying I am not serious after several people had told this group it is better for them to take break perhaps leave the game so they won't end up this way.

Well, screw me, right?

Guess it's really time to just sit back as a bystander and watch this burn because no one wants to listen anymore. Chaith, and all the other ESL players made their choice, and I applaud them for that. They chose their time and effort into someplace else. Maybe it will get better, maybe worse, but sitting just copying and pasting what 50 people already said is clearly not working either.

But again, my two cents. Do what you will.

Excelsior.

Sheesh, I understand, you hate the PvP scene, but that doesn't mean you have to be melodramatic everywhere. Just move on if you literally so unhappy that you have to receive a bootleg poem everywhere you go.

Chaith, and all the other ESL players made their choice, and I applaud them for that. They chose their time and effort into someplace else. Maybe it will get better, maybe worse, but sitting just copying and pasting what 50 people already said is clearly not working either.

I agree with you. And I'm almost reaching the point you mentioned - leaving this game as it is until it gets better. You're right about insanity definition, but for people like me who plays this game since 2012, I can tell you that I love it a lot. It saddens me that only PvE is healthy right now. By all ends, yes you're right, I'm not getting anywhere with this post. ArenaNet will do whatever they feel like doing no matter what. Maybe it's time to play something else? SMITE is amazing and I recently bought the God's Pack. Time to try WoW for real? Maybe worth it. Thanks for your insight.

The irony is not lost on me since I am probably person 51 for this quote, but this is generally my thought on the matter.

The balance isn't where it needs to be. At this point we can either refrain from playing it and sate competition cravings elsewhere, accept that pvp is broken and ignore ranked as an impossibility, or b**** about it so much that we end up becoming part of the problem.

Guild Wars isn't worth this much stress or time.
