RANGER'S THIRD'S SPEC: ASSASSIN?

Veryl.7861

Recommended Posts

You would say _thief._ ..

But why not give _Ranger_ a **second sword** so they can __~~really ~~__ pwn and tank. (I am talking about **dual wielding** sword together with GS

Give _Ranger_ more **stealth** maybe with a new **pet** thanks to the stalker.

Also _Rangers_ ~~ love~~ _~~melee~~_ ...And with gw2 everything can be ~~possible~~!

Like Anet shown us a ranger with actually ~~melee~~ abilities...

THATS why Rangers need **Healing signet** and maybe an **elite** signet.

and **EXTRA passive Signet abilities** . (Like **fury **and a **stacking ferocity boon** )

That way Rangers will always be ** front liners** and can ruthelessly _solo_ aswell.

****_idealistic_ con's: ** **

- _Teleporting_ doesn't fit ranger? What is a mesmer? Who defines how a class should be?

- _Fury stacking_ would be too OP? ...Hue! ofcourse not.... 5 stacks of ferocity multiplier of 5% per stack doesn't hurt so bad...

- _Signets are 'eeew'_ attitude? I wonder how tanky you can be with a 'Rune of the Dolyak' instead of excuberance and or what about wearing Vampirism (Maybe + a steal health on fury gain trait? would look neato next to **B**east**M**astery) It means; _Passive healing regeneration_, looks really ranger-ish, don't ya think?

- _Stealth pet's sucks? How about 'longbow 3' press the F2 switch pets and f4 you too. *'Godlike' echoeing * <---make that a human shout.

- Dual SWORDS_ would be ~~nerf~~ ?' I bet you don't like evading attacks - gaining vigor, quickness and only 25 stacks of might being a speedy **Samurai/Ninja** .

BTW why are shurikens not a thing?

Revenant, thief, ranger, warrior, necro and whole cantha would appreciate it I think.

it be the evolution of 'throwing daggers', or a molotiv cocktail when running guardian...

I just have these a m a z i n g ideas sometimes...

Really hoping Cantha is gonna be the top expansion so far when it will release.

GW2 stays my favorite game!

alot of assassin aspects have already been worked into core thief. all you'd accomplish is turn ranger into a thief (and why would you do that when you already have thief.)

i'm sure it's possible to take the parts of an assassin you like and make them fit ranger without it turning into a thief knock-off but you need to put some effort into doing it.

True. Maybe rangers would be **SAMURAI's instead**

Actually I wish editing the title would be possible but your reaction wouldn't make sense otherwise.

KEEP READING PEOPLE

'**Assassin** becomes **Samurai**

wouldn't samurai make more sense as a warrior spec?

What do you know? How do you define what a 'Mesmer' could be? :open_mouth:

Always be openminded to every class, grasshopper.

Also...The name doesn't really matter. Maybe you have read my ideas about stacking ferocity, dual wielding swords and signets too?

(as if ranger core doesn't beat every spec dps wise x) )

A hunter spec would fit perfectly. When you think about that, assassins and hunters can have a lot in common. Stealth, venoms, different kind of deadly tools, abilities to track down their targets etc.

If you want an assassin, go for the thief ! It is clearly inspired by the GW1 assassin. Which makes me believe that we will never have a spec called assassin btw. Just like we never had Paragons, even if it was perfect for a Guardian or Warrior spec.

Revenant on Legendary Assassin stance catches the flavor of GW1 Assassin slightly better. Thief is all smoke and stealth, where Assassin was clean and cold murder. Like Shiro.

I like the idea especially the off-hand sword. If the next spec is somehow the last elite spec we get however, I want it to be something class-defining and more casting-related by giving them a scepter or focus. The ranger already has so many contact weps, but only one casting wep being the staff. I would love to delve more into their nature/spiritual abilities beyond just the druid powers. Something that controls different forms of nature to produce large AOE attacks. Close to but not exactly like the Elementalist.

I was hoping to get throwing daggers (assassin) when I saw the leaks from dagger soulbeast, but nah we got an useless weapon spec instead.

I had the same ideas as you :) ! The new Charr tribe gave that impression too. I would love something more magical with Scepter. I wouldn't even mind they change the pets to become Spirit Pets (No more normal pets) that we control as AoE attacks. So, if I want to be basic, one would be power (Wolf), critical hit/damage (Bird), condi (Cat), support (Moa) and then tanky (Bear). Still has to pick only 2. Less Spirit Pets choice for easier balancing, but stronger than normal pets. The Swapping traits would be central to the spec. A magical spirit beast master.

I'm still holding out hope for the next specialisation to be Warden (with hammer, no less!), inspired by those of Echovald Forest in Cantha.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warden

> The mysterious and ancient Wardens guard the areas of Cantha hit hardest by Shiro’s legacy. Protectors of the Echovald that was, they now guard the petrified forest it has become. They may once have been human, perhaps powerful druids or holy men, but they long ago merged with the spirit they served to become something altogether different.

> Now they stand as the ultimate protectors of the Echovald that is. The clan claims the right of vengeance for what Shiro Tagachi wrought, and blames all humans for the Jade Wind that stripped the woods and sea of life, but inexplicably left the Wardens unharmed. Driven nearly mad, enraged at their failure to fulfill their only purpose, they work in their own mysterious ways to reverse the effects of Shiro’s death, but until they succeed, they will threaten any humans they encounter.

> Wardens do not take names as such, but take their monikers from their rank in the clan’s natural hierarchy. The lowest ranked, least powerful Wardens are associated with the smallest forms and shapes of nature—leaves, moss, seashells, and so on. Higher up are those Wardens who take their name from particular trees or larger forms of sea life, while those protectors that lead the clans take the names of the seasons.

Dual dagger already makes ranger a bit thiefy imo. maybe a knockdown-thief-ranger build using hammer? :o

Still vouching for swords tho.. although I want a hammer now >.>'

I like blademaster.

But wouldn't you like a healing signet? O.O how about making ranger the new SoS spirit bomb class?

With menders signet/dolyaks rune and an elite signet like knockdown + boons it could be a compensation wich would be nice to compensate the graphical nerf of Signet of the Wild 'enlarging' yourself but maybe being power.

And what's with no ferocity stacks?

With Valkery amulet/ rune of the wurm/ signet of the wild and a little luck you can get far already, but maybe it would challenge people a bit to use barbarian amulet in PvP. :3

Yes. /Hammertime!

I just wanted to provoke the community challenging them with building ideas to expect more quality material as for the next expansion. :3

Maybe I should open a new thread about a third spec or someone should >w>

I vouch for someone that knows bunnythumping and uses [bunny Ears] with [assasins coat] and [Vigil honor leggings] :3

*switched to dual sword*

[slash] [Crippling Thrust][Dual Swipe][Parry][Dual stab]

Loving the ideas so far!

P.S. (When do we get ferocity infusions?) ok Maybe I'd get a little too OP...

there's a fine line between making something influenced by and copying. soulbeast has aspects of thief but you wouldn't call it "thief but for ranger" (compared to your suggestion which is "thief for rangers")

Nice one. How would you see this? As a mid range or close 'point blank shotgun'.

I kinda always hoped for rifles on rangers... but I wouldn't know how that will turn out.

Long Bow range. It's a rifle, so it can at least be at that range.

A crippling shot would be one of the abilities. Maybe base the abilities around accuracy. Like the crippling shot for the legs. A weakening shot for the arms. A charging aimed headshot type ability. Gut shot for bleeding damage.
