Elder Dragons: Size and Appearance

Recommended Posts

Both Primordus and Kralkatorrik look vastly different from their appearances in GW1. Not just in sheer size, but they now have a more elemental look to them. Kralkatorrik's new appearance even retcons the very notion that he has blood and a heart, as told to Destiny's Edge by Glint in Edge of Destiny, given that his body seems to be wholly hollow.

Why did their appearances change so drastically over the 250 years? Do Elder Dragons become more elemental with more magic / time awake?

And while a change in size could be attributed to game scaling (especially with such an old engine that GW1 had), Primordus grew to an *insane* size, his head being larger than the entire head and neck or Kralkatorrik, or either Mordremoth or Zhaitan's bodies as seen [here](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Elder_Dragons_size_comparison.png). Given this, how did Primordus move without causing massive sinkholes across Central Tyria?

Similarly to why is Primordus so large, why are Zhaitan and Mordremoth so tiny? Zhaitan's originally planned size (as shown in above link) at least looks more comparable to Kralkatorrik even if still smaller. Was it a lore or a mechanical design decision that led to their smaller sizes?

I suppose one difference from gw1, edge of destiny, to when we see Kralkatorrik in Path of Fire, is that he has consumed a considerable amount of magic, perhaps additional magic changes the appearance? Might explain the difference of gw1 Primordus and gw2 Primordus.

Well maybe we could only see kralkatoriks head and the rest was just obscured by his crystal storm but primordius is a marginable amount larger than in the previous installment, which could be because of the 250 years of magical absorption.

And mordremoth is actually huge too. He is basically the whole freaking jungle. Everytime you die because you hit the roots on the jungle floor is because you land on mordremoth.

His "body" mordremoths mouth isnt that small either but a sandcorn in comparison to the whole maguuma jungle.

Only real dissapointment is zhaitan, his cincept art were epic, his ingame looks were ugly and underwhelming and the fight was too.

I hope they make a cire tyria overhaul with improved endfight and a bigger dragon atleast.
