I'd imagine ArenaNet would suggest it could confuse players as to whether or not the elementalist is using a conjure or not. Kinda a dumb reasoning, but I honestly think thats the case. It's why I don't think we'll get any conjured weapon as an elite weapon, as sad as that may be. Both expansions my hopes were dashed. I was hoping for Mace. Considering how generic sword is, I was really hoping they would shake it up and give one of the least used weapons to the ele. Smashing it into the ground to cause eruptions of earth or using it to channel lightning strikes like thor's hammer. :\ ah well. Two handed will likely be next, I agree. So it will probably be rifle... which I'm not looking forward too since Asura currently have that annoying smile glitch when holding one. Maybe it will be fixed by the time of the expansion? We saw NPC elementalists using Pistol in the past, and I think that's a good indicator of what's in store. Who knows, though. Edit: I really would love it to be Greatsword though. But a way for Elementalist of any spec to swap to range easily is very much needed. The only profession that can't swap between range and melee with one button is Elementalist, all others can swap with a weapon swap (and engineers have kits that are actually useful compared to our conjures), meanwhile Elementalists have what? Frost Bow and maybe Fiery Greatsword? This is something I hope the developers are going to figure out. Of course, a ranged elite spec first, then we can talk about the rest. Tempest has you camp an element for overloads and then locks you out of that element, making your attunement-juggling slower. Weaver has this annoying global cooldown that takes your speed away. I love the arcane line as it stands (and its associated skills, when usage permits), so something that thematically enhances it would be great.
