Add a text string search function in the map to easily find any location on it.

Whilst you await implementation, you can use the /Wiki in-game to bring up any location code.

I've wanted this for ages. It's especially difficult when you're looking for a particular POI you know is there, but don't want to mouse over every one to find it.

At the beginning, it might be not necessary. It's fun to search on a map. Not for today and for future, the world is getting bigger and bigger. It's time to add a new search box on the map. Location name cannot be search if not unlocked.

You can mouse over the POI in the map key on the left and unvisited ones will show up if the area has been opened.

Yes, but say you're following some collection or scavenger hunt and you know the POI you want but don't know where it is. I doubt a map search feature would let you search stuff you haven't discovered yet.
