But I decided to ask if they have the drink, and they said no. I phrased it this way, "Do you have the Guild Wars 2 promotional drink?" and their response was, "No."

The workers probably weren't told anything by KFT except 'the promotion exists'

Well the tea they were promoting , I can't even buy it at my KFT location, not yet anyway... I just see a million bots reposting photos from other people or directly from the KFT promotions on Twitter. Their other drinks are okay but are really sweet tho(you can get reduced sugar) if it's your cup of tea ;D,,,, It's not going to be the BEST MILK EVER, it's just okay

Go to facebook and then Kung Fu Tea (@kungfuteausa), then look for a post in their feed regarding "GW2 FREE DLC CODES (HEROIC EDITION & IN-GAME DRAGON EMBLEM OUTFIT) APP PROMOTION UPDATE" which is posted on 4 september 21.15. Then look at the comments of ppl in the post. Search for a certain Lisette that posted 2 day ago. She is from Europe and you see that Kung Fu Tea replied her with "Hey ! We appreciate your patience. If you have claimed the rewards, you will definitely be receiving the codes as soon as our system can continue distributing them!"

>

> This is just 1 of the persons outside of US they replied such... as they replied a few more similarly.

Ahh, here's the problem. Which Kung Fu Tea facebook? There seem to be several, depending on location.

I also would not count on the employee who handles the KFT social media having any real knowledge/power over what decisions are being made by marketing in ANY company.

Plus: "If you have claimed the rewards" That 'if' gives them a loophole to wiggle out of. They just have to say the rewards were not legitimately claimed due to regional restrictions, yada yada.

Not trying to squash your hope, but IMO our best chance of seeing this work out okay is if Anet is in there fighting for everyone, and an optimistic reassurance from the KFT employee who posts on Facebook seems like a really thin reed to rely on.

Pretty sure this is illegal across many states/countries, since sweepstakes/giveaways/etc are technically considered lotteries (even the Free DLC requires entry of Personal Data, 100% chance of the “prize”).

The in-app promotion is completely free. Since you don't need to pay anything, you can't loose anything. Therefore it's not a lottery or any form or gambling. Plus there is no element of chance.

For the sweepstakes I don't know. You need to buy a drink, so technically you need to pay to join the giveaway. And there is an element of chance. Since sweepstakes in limited to the USA and I have no clue about gambling laws in the USA I can't comment on that though.

I think they vary from state to state. In my state, the last I heard it was illegal to require a purchase to be entered into a sweepstakes, but there are apparently a lot of exceptions for things like charity raffles and native casinos and state-run lotteries. McDonalds has to give you a free entry for things if you ask for it, I believe.

This contest is slightly weaselly, though, since you don't technically have to buy a drink, just post a photo of one. You could hang out and photograph someone else's drink, it seems, and I don't know if they are eliminating entries that re-use other peoples' photos. Maybe you could post a photo of a state statute saying that it's illegal to require purchases in your state to enter contests, and they would have to count that as a valid entry. XD

Plsease, please allow everyone outside of USA to get the outfit, KFT already got a lot of advertising by all of this that I, even if i'm not living on USA, know already that they do sell Bubble Tea and I would go there if I get the chance just to buy one out of pure curiosity.

So its already a win for them, even if its just hate, is good advertising. No point of limiting the outfit just for US residents.

"Your post in "Kung Fu Tea Promotion [merged]" was removed..." Hmm, and which of my approximately 8,794 posts in this topic would that be? Not the most helpful PM I've ever received.

It's still only 8:30am in Seattle where Anet are based. It's highly unlikely we'll hear anything before 9am their time and it could be as late as 5pm (1am GMT). It could possibly be later than that, but it seems unlikely to me...unless they have a _really_ long meeting with KFT and announce the outcome after that.

Of course we don't know that we'll hear anything at all from them today. But if they don't say anything today it will probably be Monday at the earliest and then we'll be over a week into the promotion and nearly a week since it was shut down and IMO that would be a long time to leave us with no info.

Furthermore, ANet has sneakily removed all the promotion posts from the non-American clients and websites.

I am Taiwanese and Republic of China is not People's Republic of China, which is the real China. Besides a lot of Taiwanese are trying to throw RoC away. It's complicated but Taiwan is not China.

wiki says not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan

anyway, this is off topic, n ur nation is called "Republic of China", deal with it.

I reckon we may need to sit on it over the weekend while they sort things out. If they are planning to compensate for the troubles, setting that up may take some time. And there may still be talks between the companies involved. I'm upset over feeling deceived into giving my private details and past post history to a third-party company for absolutely nothing in return, but I am willing to let ArenaNet take their time to figure out how to best resolve the issue they've been part of creating.

This. I really feel like we've been scammed -- data mined and left empty handed for it.

Same. No point getting upset. No point feverishly hitting refresh in a broken app. No point staring at the forums waiting for an official announcement.

I'm just going to wait the month out and see if I get what I was promised by the end of the promo. If they don't make it right, I'm not going to storm off. I'll still play the game. But I'll be done giving them money.

Something like that would probably be seen as LFG abuse. So, I'd report them if I saw such a listing.
