  1. You're right, you get less regeneration than protection with hard light arena. Reading the wiki however, mentions that the duration of regeneration "pauses" when you receive a new stack from a source with higher heal power. I haven't found the reason of the hard light arena thing but must be somethign related to the strangeness of regeneration application.
  2. There is a limit on how many "Applications" of any boon you can give. You cannot infinitely stack a boon until it gives you infinite duration, there is always a limit to that, based on how many applications of said boon you give. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Effect_stacking#Mechanics > Duration-stacking effects have a maximum number of stacks: 3, 5 or 9 (depending on the effect, see list below). Attempts to further stack the effect will be nullified That's what happening to the skill Hard Light Arena, it constantly pulses boons on targets inside it, but since you cannot give more than a set number of applications on each boon, the duration will clash into a hard cap, rendering the last pulses ineffective.
  3. Yes, Grothmar Valley overall was a really good start, this concert is definitely the most fun, epic and clever event of all the entire game, its not just one of the many boring "Beat this X dude" "Escort that other guy" kind of event, you felt like you were there, like you were really part of the event. btw, from someone who enjoys heavy/trash metal and would normally cringe when companies try to shove the genre into places that normally wouldn't fit, these three songs are LEGIT, the rough vocals and the guitar riffs, they really put effort on it and clearly managed to not feel a generic attempt of "heavy metal" within a videogame.
  4. Two things you have to consider: 1.- Make sure you're representing the guild you're doing Guild Missions with. 2.- Trek and Race Guild missions randomly gives you the chest right after you complete the first of several objectives, this is probably your case, you get the bouncy chest before completing the guild mission (getting 1 or 2 treks or someone completing the race when you have gotten past at least one checkpoint) and you accept it without being aware of what it is, but when the guild mission is done, you don't get any other bouncy chests, then get confused and start blaming the system. In the Guild Panel check the guild missions tab, and see if the chests are open for you (that means you're already claimed the reward of said mission),
  5. Its completely optional, but encouraged, GW2 is a very social mmorpg and it feels lonely if you're not having a chat with other players. Just look for a PVE (Player vs Environment) focused guild that's accepting new and returning players, there are plenty of these advertising through map chat. GW2 players are commonly really friendly and willing to help. As for content, sadly there isn't much related to Guilds other than guild missions, it all comes from customary guild activities and events.

I might just make a new character based on that! The lv1 to 80 leveling is essentially the tutorial of this game, Its not truly grindy, and you can definitely have fun exploring and doing story without worrying about leveling spots. Enjoy your early game, the only explanation I can give you about the classes is tha they're not really sterotypes. For example Guardian is themed aroudn the paladin-eske" type of character, but in fact is one of the more versatile classes of the game, they're one of the meta supports right now, but also has other offensive builds and its currently one of the most picked dps classes for fractals. All 9 classes have offensive builds, the only different thing is their aesthetic, which you can pretty much use the description you gave on your main post. > Mesmer: Class that fights with illusions > Guardian: The Paladin class like in other games > Necromancer: Traditional necromancer like in other games > Ranger: Archer that plays with pets **Variety of melee weapons, bow is just one of them, They do have pets.** > Elementalist: Complex spellcaster that plays with 4 sets of skills all the time **Like I said his elite spec Weaver can equip a sword for close range combat** > Warrior: Basic class that can tank and throw banners? **They're mostly bruisers, could say its the stereotypical warrior class on any mmorpg, but their banners are special supportive AoE buffs for up to 10 targets, almost any party/squad has 1 banner warrior.** > Thief: Typical Rogue class like other games? **I wouldn't say they're a typical rogue class, they fight like any other class except that their aesthetic is more acrobatic.** > Engineer: Super complex class to stay away from as a new player. **Its not really super complex, but it might be hard for the average player, Their focus is on inventions and tools, elixirs, and turrets (although turrets are pretty weak).** You are able to unlock Elite Specs after you reach lv80, these basically gives you a mechanical change of your class. Each of the 9 classe, which you shoudl refer as core classes, has 2 elite specs, for instance Necromancer has Scourge and Reaper, once you unlock these elite specs you can swap them at your heart's content as logn as you're out of combat. Imagine playing a necro spec (Reaper) that allows you to go melee and swing a freakin' Scythe at enemies.
  7. GW2 is known for breaking class stereotypes on mmorpgs. Gameplay wise all classes do different things, you'd be surprised knowing that Warrior isn't as tanky as you think, a Mesmer spec (chrono) is considered the best tank option in raid bosses. A "caster class-like" elementalist can actually go all melee to pack a punch (weaver). If you want a more serious approach at this game you need to learn the basics first, level up one character until you reach 80 and then you'll have the chance to see endgame content starting with easy things like Strikes or Fractals T1, and then hardcore content like Fractals T3/T4, Raids, and pvp like sPvP and WvW. Then you will start to understand what's the meta compositions and which classes can do what.
  8. Axe = Fury and pulls Mace = Regen and protection Use mace when there is not an alacrigade in your sub.
  9. I do achievements for the same reason I like to 100% the games I play. The AP is proof of how much i've "compelted" the game, and best of all, people can also see my progress and in a way gives you bragging rights. Of course not everyone care about AP and its understandable, clearly the OP isn't interested and questions its nature, but the meaning of having this point system varies from player to player.
  10. If this was implemented Chill wouldn't even exist, many classes constantly apply burning, and chill is a really limited soft cc condi. Burning usually comes in long durations and chill doesn't go beyond 2-3 seconds per application.
  11. Charr society is all about hierarchy and discipline, lower ranked charr must obey everything their superiors ask them to do, however it all comes to assignments. For example a centurion isn't allowed to freely command warbands, or issue new tasks unless their Tribune grants them permission to. lower rank soldiers should answer to them nonetheless. (Although, there are few cases ingame where a centurion abuses his rank for his own benefit, but that has been clear that might happen (like seen in the personal story), that is however, considered unsubordination and can lead to a death sentence if discovered, every charr knows this and thus no one attempts to abuse it.) Their line in command is also restricted between legions, a Centurion/Tribune/whatever can't directly lead charr from other legions no matter their rank unless there was an agreement between legions. If a tribune from blood agrees with the tribune of iron to work on a mission and they send their troup, they can agree on one or more centuriors to comand a group of warbands, and these warbands, no matter which legion they are, must obey these centurions no matter what.
  12. Tools trait line, 2nd column. [streamlined Kits](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Streamlined_Kits)
  13. If you play warrior well in CM99 and 98, you can outdps everyone except for the most advanced dps meta players. If you're looking for a goal, have this in mind.
  14. Problem with fractals is that they are meant to be done on a daily basis and it becomes quite repetitive after a while. Both Deepstone and Siren's Reef were neat ideas for fractals, but since most of the fractal players want to get their dailies done asap these became the two most loathed fractals in consecuence.
  15. Dialogue hasn't changed, you just realized this fractal has multiple dialogue. You can view all the possible dialogue here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deepstone_Fractal#Dialogue There is a few text marked as "(One line chosen at random):" meaning the npc will say one of these lines.

This took my attention, i'm a holo main 9k+ hours playtime only on that class alone and I can't solo a HoT HP, lol
  17. You can unlock the Raid Mastery line by killing a w1-w4 boss. Siege the Stronghold (the first W3 encounter) also counts for this, you can look for a group doing that mission (you might find it as "w3 escort" in lfg). and its a fairly simple encounter where you don't have to worry about underperforming or dragging your group back since its essentially a 10 man open world event where numbers doesn't really matter much.
  18. > @"Armen.1483" said: > Unpopular opinion: chrono tank is outdated and bad. > What is the most weird that people still play the diviner/minstriel chronos as tanks in pugs which is no longer a thing for a long time. I play minstriel chrono only on 3 bosses. On other encounters I'd go dps or quickness tank chrono and when I don't take the signet or a shield I feel like all the deffensive potential of chrono is missing and any other class could do the same and maybe with better efficiency, as chrono doesn't even have a heal, because he uses it for dps. Another thing is When bosses are big it becomes somewhat difficult to get in range of the group for shatter quickness. I'd rather have a healer tank (best is druid then firebrand if struggling) or alacrev if not, any dps would work too, if dps chrono tank is working. Of course still you can play the alac well chrono on desmina for example and it is pretty good... But then again not the only option. Well, remember Chrono is the easiest to tank stuff as they have a 3 second block (you can even use it twice if you block something on the first cast) and 2 sources of distortion. Of course you can tank with other classes, but the point of still bringing Chrono tank is that it synergies perfectly well with a Druid healer in the subgroup. You can shuffle your squad composition to bring other supports but that's something really rare and uneffective for LFGs unless more than half the squad knows what they're up to. I like the healbrigade combo but unfortunately if you bring two healbrands to a squad the overall dps would be lower since you don't have druid spirits. I'm talking about effectiveness, but of course you can clear raids without chrono tank, in fact, you could basically beat every boss using only core class dps if you tried to lol.
  19. cFB or SLB is easier for fractals and pull high dps with low effort. In order to match their dps as rifle holo you need to have an impecable heat management to use your bursts and explode after the boss becomes vulnerable and before the bosses phases, But if you just wanna do "decent dps", yeah go for it.

I get like 2~4 avg every day with my 2 alts parked there. > > I appreciate the comment but more than straight up “gold” I would like to know the best items drop monster I can farm? Just because I could just kill monsters all day, that’s easy for me to just cover a wide area and carry on back and forth dropping valuable items. So if there is monsters that drop items that I can later sell maybe instead of sending me gold farming I would rather hunt all day for some easy monsters that may eventually drop items I can profit from. Thankyou anyway ! > Killing monsters for drops is really unreliable. GW2 is way too different from other MMORPG. There isn't specific droptables where X enemy drops stuff. Basically the way GW2 works is that every enemy is categorized as a type of enemy (Ej. Plant, Undead, Awakened, Fish). No matter what you kill, if the thing you kill is for example, a Fish, it is gonna give you a Fin as a Token Drop (Trash drop that you sell to npc). Here comes the interesting part, the value of the trash item (token/trash drop) or the gear drop depends of the level and the Rank of the monster. The higher rank and level the enemy is, the more valuable the item will be (or possibly be). Usually lv80 enemies has a chance to drop T6 tokens and mats (which are really valuable) while enemies around lv20 can give you T2 tokens or below. Ther isn't really a specific place where you can kill enemies in bunch in order to farm T6 mats, so basically if you wanna farm items, just kill everything you find in Lv80 maps. Likewise, the rank of enemies grants you more rewards, enemies ranked as Normal, Veteran and Elite rarely gives you worthy stuff, but Champions, Legendary and Epic enemies does give you bags that *can* contain valuable items. But hey, these high rank enemies are meant to be fougth in group. In other words, the best way to farm for items is to join groups and trains doing specific events to kill high rank and level enemies without much effort. (Silverwastes, Drizzlewood...) Solo killing stuff isn't worth at all. > @"KillingTimeZ.5289" said: > > @"Wolfb.7025" said: > > If you plan on grinding for gold, take a look at this page: > > https://fast.farming-community.eu/ > > > > If you plan to solo, then Gathering -> Karmic Tools might be the best option for you, also check this webpage for an efficient gathering route: > > https://gw2efficiency.com/gathering/permanent-nodes > > > > I don't really like to "farm" in open world, BUT I do have 2 characters parked in the [Tomb of the Primeval Kings](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tomb_of_the_Primeval_Kings). What is this I am truly interested in solo farming > Karmic Tools are gathering tools that you buy with Karma. https://fast.farming-community.eu/gathering/karmic-tools The Volatile Tools are the most profiteable tools available right now, each strike with these tools gives you Volatile Magic, which can be traded for T6 materials (Trophy Shipments are the most profiteable right now). https://fast.farming-community.eu/conversions/volatile-magic Basically equip Volatile Gathering Tools and go gather nodes around tyria. I posted a guide for best routes to gather permanent placed nodes. https://gw2efficiency.com/gathering/permanent-nodes
  22. > @"weaponwh.9810" said: > between swor/pistol vs rifle, which one is easier, both do about similar dps i assume? Both has a similar level of difficulty, the only difference is how the heat management works. With sword you have to mantain your heat between 100 and 149, if you overheat you're gonna lose a lot of dps, the rotation is "easier" but mistakes are more prone to happen. With Rifle you have to manage your 100 heat capacity to use the most Corona Burst and Photon Blitz possible. Grenade Barrage, Big Old Bomb, Photon Blitz and Overheat are your highest damaging skills and if you happen to miss these your dps will be affected in the long run, each skill has their own gimmick on when and how to use them. Both have similar benchmarks, and I 100% favour Rifle since the rotation is more clear and smooth instead of the "use everything offcd" sword rotation.
  23. If you plan on grinding for gold, take a look at this page: https://fast.farming-community.eu/ If you plan to solo, then Gathering -> Karmic Tools might be the best option for you, also check this webpage for an efficient gathering route: https://gw2efficiency.com/gathering/permanent-nodes I don't really like to "farm" in open world, BUT I do have 2 characters parked in the [Tomb of the Primeval Kings](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tomb_of_the_Primeval_Kings). There are 6 chests that can be opened per character, and each of these has a chance to give you a Rare Unidentified Gear. I get like 2~4 avg every day with my 2 alts parked there.
  24. Firebrand is the only condi class that performs exceptionally well on both old CMs due to their high insta burning bursts. And also they're unaffected by No Pain No Gain and Vengeance.

They put their BS in a sepparate sub so the buff spreads through everyone on the squad. > > This is false for benchmarks. The reason for Empower Allies is simply that they used it for a long time and it would've been a lot of work to do all of the pre-existing benchmarks for the sake of changed build. Nowadays Empower Allies is used in a lot of the record runs, but the build still doesn't have it by default simply because it's not really worth it. SC uses realistic buffs and LN uses most buffs for the ease of benchmarking. SC boss benchmarks use a warrior with empower allies. You can see it on the logs on their videos. If EA wasn't relevant for raid clears they wouldn't care about updating benchmarks with new numbers without that boon. Its a relevant boon **for them** and should be for every tryhard group that wants the clear record. They will always bring EA for their power clears. Edit: I'm not snowcrows, everything i'm saying is just from perception and what I think makes the most sense in my own mind. I really dobut they wouldn't re-benchmark everything just because "its too much", they're a group of possibly more than 10 people that dedicates to farm logs to present to a whole mmorpg community what a class is able to do. And there are less than 18 dps builds listed in there with their corresponding data. We won't know for certain the true reason of why they keep EA, but until they say anything about it, or someone ask them directly, i'm gonna keep believing its because EA BS is meta for them.
