Tarlonniel.6534
I'd absolutely love a personal heal/murderbot to help me get through story instances, but as long as one NPC manages to resurrect me when I die so I don't have to restart from the beginning, I'm happy. Ashen.2907
I cant recall NPCs being helpful.
AzureTerra.1642
Ok we are the Commander and all but the Pact should be capable of fighting things and not having us have to come along and res them all and then help them finish the thing they were "fighting" off

That's a perfect description of me roaming in WvW. Too often I found myself in the situation where a group attacks and you think "oh, we are 4 people, no problem at all" and then the others are either afk or busy farming the nodes or just watch you fighting alone. At some point I started to treat everybody I haven't seen before and fought together as NPC.
Trise.2865
Short version: Because so many complained GW2 was "too easy".
XenoSpyro.1780
It's not just story. Most NPCs in the entire game are trash. They do no damage and have no speed. A Blood Legion soldier using a greatsword has a coin toss chance of dying to any random mob. It takes nearly a dozen Seraph 5 years to kill one Vet tamini. It's sad when you're impressed by Rox using Barrage every now and then.
