Not asking for support on linux os, but this seems to be interesting

I just found out about System76 and their ubuntu based Pop!_OS

It seems to have a compatibility for nvidia gpus and steam comes on their os store.

I was wondering if someone has this OS and tried to play gw2 (which isn't on steam, duh.. xD) without installing any other software and booting it from steam.

 

I'll probably have to wait a bit since I'm mostly using my laptop on the office and it would be really bad if I started playing games on it at work, lol.

Though sometimes I feel like they rather have me do that, than taking accidentally down the entire development server :p

There has already been a thread here and on reddit covering the recent improvements, mostly from d9vk. I think in some cases it was actually performing better than on windows ...

While not about POP OS it is about running GW2 on Linux, today there are several ways to run GW2 on Linux successfully including adding to your Steam library (manually) and telling Steam to use Proton (wine variation cooked into Steam) to load the game, and it works but isn't in my opinion the best solution.

 

I've been running GW2 on Fedora 30 for the last week or so using Lutris and a few tweaks from the thread above, it has worked very well for me enought so that I deleted my Windows install.... :astonished:

Technically speaking most desktop focused distros have good compatibility with Nvidia GPU's. While Steam may expose GW2 to bit more, it isn't essential to play it on Linux. [in this thread](https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/31192/playing-guild-wars-2-on-linux-performance-optimizations-and-more/p1?new=1) you can find an unofficial GW2 Linux package with all performance tweaks already applied.

 

I highly suggest you watch the Installation video which covers all the crucial steps required to run it issue free.

Yup, the whole point of mentioning pop!_os was to see an alternative to make it easier and friendlier for mainstream users. I know the os wasn't made specifically for gaming, but the nvidia compatibility sounds like a big step forward for any non linux user as a quality of life improvement.
