So theres 2 ways to make damage in gw2: from "power" and from "conditions". but conditions also include non-damage conditions, they are mostly related to cloud-control(CC) like chill, cripple, they can be improved only with **condition duration**. > > While power-based professions improve with Power/Precision/Ferocity, the condition based professions improve with condition and condition duration. Theres also some rare hibrid's Power and condition damage, they most doesnt need condition duration. > > Precision and Ferocity are like 99% of other MMO's, precision increase your critical chance, and ferocity the % of damage done by critical hit. Your focus on duration in relation to only do damage, but lack the information that duration also scale up defensive condition like Blind, Weakness and so on (it is the same when one start to look for duration on boons: Aegis, Protection reduce damage taken and Might/Vulnerability increase both condition AND power based damage at the same time; each increase in duration means next stack/tick will last longer so it is easier to scale up damage before next stack/tick will time out). The reason why condition build can survive where a power based would have problems are exactly that duration for condition is directly connected to this package (condition that do damage over time, condition which is part of soft Crowd Control (CC) effect like chill or even slow (which again make target take longer time to attack or react/move) and then we have condition which work to prevent target from hitting you (Blind or Weakness). That is the reason quadruple attribute (those with 4 instead of 3 attribute) become popular even when their nominal numbers where lower then the older 3 attribute version. In group (even as a duo) this also means that party or squad scale much faster, then a solo player as they have priority for how in range will get those boons (and condition always are target dependent - meaning you need to apply it on target instead of player). This is another reason why condition vs power work different as when one look as how to the help with damage and how they need to adjust for group content as condition (as based on duration) are much more depending on getting enough damage each second vs boon/power which have to use "windows" where target will take damage and don't forget that in calculation that power will be reduced from toughness and base defence (armour rating) before it start to chip away on Health Pool. Condition isn't reduced by any of these, but can instead be removed fully with condition cleanse (as long we talk about player vs player or NPCs vs player).

It would be sticky across characters and logins. > > > I would to that suggestion also key binding that make it easier to flip flap (conflate or expand) sections while this panel is open. Maybe add chat commands, so one can directly pick which part of LFG one want to open the section for map or in Eye of the North with a command "/LFG Champion" which open with all LFG for Champion DRM by default and optional Strike Mission with /LFG Strike or something like that. In chat ANet could have added a button for /LFG which would add that part in chat with sub option for which part of LFG one want to post.
  3. > @"Joote.4081" said: > I bought 3 and 4. I might pick up 2 later or in a sale. Buying all 3 is a bit expensive when I had so many other things to buy. I have already spent to much on gems this month. Looks like I will be living on beans on toast for a while. :) Did you get LW 3 to access Bloodstone Fen? It one of the easier map to farm for ascended backpack (you pick which attribute it will have and later change it when need for a small fee - need a gizmo from same vendor that sell Unstable Magic items like Ascended backpack and trinkets). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Fen Check GW2 wiki for what you need of episodes to get to a certain map and what you can buy there from currencies that you need farm there.

This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com." What is an Error 42? Error 42 indicates an interruption in your connection to the game's account servers, which handle everything from login to numerous social systems in the game, including guilds and chat. The error can occur both before and after you've already logged into the game, preventing you from logging in or disrupting your access to certain systems if you're logged-in when problems arise. On the client-side, the error is most often caused when a network problem disrupts your connection to the account servers. On the server-side, the error can be caused when the servers themselves are experiencing network issues. How do I fix an Error 42? Network issues on the server-side are often resolved within a few minutes. If this is not the case, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Completely exit the game and close the client. Wait five minutes, then re-launch the game and try again. Reboot your PC. Giving your computer a chance to reset and reboot can help address numerous issues that might impact your connectivity to the game. Reset your router and modem. Rebooting your modem can fix connection problems, improve slow connections, and clear out any issues stored in the memory of your router. Temporarily disable any security software such as Norton, AVAST, AVG, or McAfee, and then re-launch the game. If these basic steps do not help, try these more advanced troubleshooting steps: If this does not work, adjust the 'security' setting within your firewall settings. Lowering this setting to 'medium' or 'low' will often clear up connection issues. Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, and 6112 to be fully unrestricted and accessible—both inbound and outbound. You can learn more about how to configure your firewall and router ports in this article. Please note that more severe network outages may take longer to resolve; if this is the case, be sure to watch our social channels for the latest updates as we work to resolve the issues. 5. > @"The Boz.2038" said: > I like some of the HoT difficulty designs, but I detest the binary nature and skill and feature combinations of some enemies. No counterplay enemies (Guard Snipers), binary challenges (Bristlebacks), infuriating combos (shoot-stun-poison-dodge-evade-stealth frogs), loadout checks (Chak Bracers), confusing chaos spam kitten (the entire Mushrom roster), these are the designs that should be avoided at all costs. You forgot about that mechanic where Mushroom do a Kamikaze headspin and the same in Lake doric/Bloodstone Fen where one have to avoid standing too close to before NPC die not get hit by heavy damage or condition which one have to remove. **Directed as part of the general discussion in this thread:** Tangle Depths problem isn't that much navigation as the special poison (debuff) one get that one need Mastery to be able to cleanse through dodge. This mechanic make it hard for players on low populated maps to avoid to constant getting this kind of poison renewed (limit on dodges and to avoid getting it re-applied from swarm of Chak mobs). This is a problem related to scaling with players on map and the number of target each mob can hit or aggro, as there is no scaling in this game as far as I know to adjust for when map have less player on it. It makes this kind of map only being popular for farming while it is a zerg rushing through and then left for dead most part of day/night. In my opinion PoFs Bounty system work much better as a few player can pick easier Bounty and then scale up to harder when their squads have grown with numbers. This make it possible to keep maps alive and also a bit more variation as Unstable Magic (two random buffs on target) and where those will spawn changes. Here players have a bit more control and can ignore the "wrong" boss or try out if they manage themselves (solo or small group) to kill it or reset it when needed. It does cut down event chain problem where everything have be coordinated on map like Dragonfall or Dragon's Stand. Map with variation is what I believe will feel more alive as people can then get things done and join up to larger events.
  6. > @"WhatLiesBeneath.9018" said: > This is still bugged. Did CS respond before you made a new ticket or have you sent a new ticket every time you couldn't finish your achievement? I ask because if send a new ticket it might reset your cue and that way you will never get a response or help to finish it. I actually now completed all of Skyscale Rider achievement, so it do work, but it might be bugged for some which can be depending on issues that is hard to track down when there is no background information. Did you make sure that you had blue icon buff (same that counts down the number of Motes for that path) when you charge up that main purple mote to show the path? It might happen that you did not get that buff to start for some reason. This achievement can be tricky as some paths have several Motes that you need to navigate both up and below (see the line that connect each Mote) and when wings and tail on Skyscale can accidentally trigger Mote that is not in line (which happens on LW 4 paths), then it is easy to miss one Mote before getting to the last purple one which mark the end of Path. I systematically used GW2 wiki list of each one to complete all that I had left of each achievement for Skyscale Rider in each zone. [edit] That buff icon can be hard to see in area where there are other blue and white icon on buff bar like in Drizzlewood. It have blue background white circle with a small number in right lower corner which count down for each Mote that you are supposed to hit with Skyscale before you get to the last Purple end Mote. Each Mote refresh your Quickness and your flight bar, so don't stress (dodge) so you will miss the next Mote, if you dodge in air to fast past where you aim with Skyscale. There is a line that you can only see when you have "eaten" one Mote that connect to next (and sometime it can be hard to see as it is really thin). If you have Mastery skill for Skyscale where you also turn invisible, then remember to use that if you get in danger to be targeted or hit by poison instead of dodging danger. There is a timer, but it is in general enough to land if necessary to charge up flight bar and continue, if you are forced to break up following path as avoid getting in downed state. Metrica Province shouldn't be that hard, but there are other places where this knowledge can be useful like when you get to Sandswept Island and there is those Ravaging Elementals with Gathering Storms which make it impossible to see last Purple Mote at statues top. Those two starting Motes are around the same place on map and it is easy to get lost when you have to navigate through leaves on trees on the same paths as Motes are going. Good luck
  7. > @"Joote.4081" said: > Just to be on the safe side what would a magic user benefit mostly from ? Guild Wars 2 do not have any "magic" user, profession or any other thing that other game tend to separate and build up on. In GW2 you either have Condition damage or Power based damage as source and from there try to build on how your trait lines will work (even Elite trait line are only changing what weapon you now can equip, which skills that are connected to that trait line that now will be possible to use and profession skills (F1-F5 this depends on what profession that are your core profession). There are three weight classes that correspond to each profession: light armour or scholar class, medium armour or Adventurer class and then the heavy armour class called soldier class. As label for those classes you can imagine that light armour or scholar class correspond more with Mage class in other game are Elementalist, Mesmer or Necromancer. Adventure class are Thief, Ranger and Engineer. Soldier class are Guardian, Warrior or Revenant and Revenant where added into game with HoT package (you did have to buy HoT to have access to Revenant during that time). I would suggest that you take a look at GW2 wiki which explains this and when you do the story part will also indirectly introduce you to other profession in the way the use their skills. Kasmeer as an example are a Mesmer and her best friend is a Necromancer as profession. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kasmeer_Meade https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Marjory_Delaqua Scholar class is more related to traditional use of elemental magic (see last part of this text)(here fire, water, earth and air in the form of condition damage types as fire damage, water as chill or heals from water fields, earth as causing bleeding or a short time hardening (invulnerable) and then we have air which can cause stun from lightning or give boon in the from swiftness or superspeed (not a boon, but a faster form of swiftness)). As you see Elementalist make use of the elements as a base idea that take different forms, same for Mesmer where use of Illusions in the form of Clones and Phantasm both work as distraction and to provide source for Confusion (condition damage) or Torment (for Mirage this is a larger source of condition damage) in combination with skills that are more related to causing or inflicting damage that attacker will increase on itself. This is just to give an idea how this game make use of its own rule set to how profession work within more traditional RPG and MMORPGs. **Note about magic** Magic is not only elemental but can have different form like Illusion, manipulation of life force (Necromancer) or Thiefs ability to combine both physical and mental (magic) to avoid getting caught while "stealing" or doing their typical less honourable, but still justified things. Guardian even as Soldier class are more related to "magic" then tradtional physical based abilities. In short "magic" is something else in this game and means something else then other games as this game are built around it in another way.

In Options I have enabled "Show all Usable Object Names" active (tick), so I can see all items like books, bundles etc with yellow name tag above it. When you use keybind you will need to hold it down to show name tag as described above, there is no toggle where you change state between visual or hidden objects. I find it best to set almost every "Show all_____" to active and have only other players name tag off as that can tax FPS, when there is a lot players and make it hard to see static objects like NPCs that you want interact with, object or hostile/enemies (red). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Options (Look at image that is on that page and you will find those options for "Show all___") ____ When you use "Call Target" (CTRL-T) which put a red cross and circle above targets head or object, it will also put name of target in chat, so it is possible to see what you or somebody else target before you press Take Target (T) to change Target to what have been called out with Call Target. You might need to set up filter in chat, so it will show (but I believe Call Target will always show in green text indepent on how set up your filter in chat).

Totally missed that memo when i was away lol. > Thanks for the info! Use GW2 wiki as there is a step by step guide for how to become Master in crafting Ascended food connected with that achievement that you start when you will do this. You will have one character that in the end have a Bloodstone Owen (craft station), so it is long road ahead and some Gold cost, if you need to purchase things. During this process you will also get recipe for doing your first Salvage kit (Portable Composter). You will also have access to NPCs with items that you can buy that you will need for crafting Ascended Food (same as all other crafting of Ascended armour or Weapon). In your Home Instance you will have one Garden Plot for free and be able to purchase more from from Gem Store. As far as I have seen those Garden Plot will never be on reduced sale, so count on 1000 Gem for each Garden Plot you will add in the future. Harvesting from those are best to do with Gathering Tool you equip with Glyph of Reaping or buy with Karma from Gathering Tool vendor at Lion's Arch (look up "Gathering Tool" at GW2 wiki and you will see more places where this type of vendors can be found). The reason I suggest to use Reaping is that you collect all in range with this type of tool and Gardening Plot have several nodes very close, so in one strike you have everything at once. When you place a Feast like Ascended Food it will stay in the World for 5 min. You can interact with it to reset your own timer (for yourself) as it give a 1 hour buff from that and in that way add 5 min (approx. 1 h 4 min). If you use a Primer to extend duration of all Food to 12 hour, then you might want to first activate Primer and then interact with Feast again, in case you forgot to use Primer before you put up your Feast. Just wait a couple of second due to short CD and you should be able to interact again. This knowledge are also useful in case there are several Feasts or you placed the wrong type for yourself and there is another close by.

When you have Ascended Crafting you also need to Salvage food to create material that are used in Crafting Ascended Food. Here is a list all you can create with Milling Stone: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Milling_Stone Especially https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cup_of_Light-Roasted_Coffee can be Salvage this way, so there are uses for Milling Stone and other material in that you either craft it food or feast or buy it large quantity only to make into Salvage (Compost) for Extract of Nourishment in different tier. Salvage kit for breaking down food and feasts - Portable Composter: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Portable_Composter - this item can be used like any other Salvage that are Account Bound on any character (you can craft more of these if you don't want to share Portable Composter).
  11. To explain possible reason to why these WXP Infusion only will increase direct damage source with a small percent and not condition damage as source attribute where condition is a damage over time. both This is to avoid (A) that player will be able to kill WvW NPCs too fast (time for defenders to get from spawn points to defend Towers with Lords as an example or camps). (B) NPCs in WvW don't have active mechanics that can remove condition damage types like players can do with condition cleanse or when they use Resistance boon (which reduce time that an active condition will be able to do damage for each tick it is active) There are some NPCs can heal up again rather fast instead, but in general it is avoid (A). NPCs role in WvW is to act as for blocking taking objectives too fast in WvW and let defending players have some time to get there or at least to when there is a fight around an objective that defenders or attacker will need to kill NPCs and wait for timer to end before it is owned by the other server. If there is a group of players and all have increased percentage or damage reduction from Infusion this would also scale very fast to make NPC even less of an obstacle. Defiance bar block direct damage until it is broken, but condition damage can still tick even during phases when it have been locked (depending on source of attack being a projectile or a an ground based AoE for how condition damage are applied). Direct damage are much more depending on breaking a Defiance bar then condition based builds.
  12. > @"Virdo.1540" said: > I have a question regarding to the wvw infusions ,like the [Malign WvW Infusion](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malign_WvW_Infusion). > > it gives extra stats and something like "+1% Damage to Guards, Lords, and Supervisors". My question is: does this count for power only? Or is it +1% condi damage too? Cuz there are many things that gives +% damage, but only for power tho. When the tooltip and description show "+1% Damage to Guards, Lord and Supervisors" it means all direct damage (Power) will increase with 1% and only for NPCs in WvW and not, enemy player. Condition damage as damage type will not be effected by anything that is listed as "+ Damage", if you look up wiki about damage types you will be able to confirm this. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition_Damage Malign WvW Infusion will add 5 points to Condition Damage attribute, but it will not add +1% Condition Damage, only +1% Damage towards NPCs (named in tooltip) for WvW. There are two group of WvW Infusion: Defensive and Offensive. Offensive adds damage towards Guards, Lords and Supervisiors (NPCs) and Defensive reduce damage from those types of NPCs in WvW. Look here for WvW Infusions: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion#WvW_Infusions In short: You only change a small percentage of how much damage WvW NPC will take from Power based damage source. Condition Damage source will not be effect from this (except from adding one of two condition based attribute as flat 5 points increase for each Infusion of Condition Damage or as Expertise for duration). The impact here from Infusion when in WvW are not really that big and in particular as for killing NPCs that act as Guards, Lords or Supervisiors in WvW it really doesn't matter that much. More important will be to upgrade those ability lines (WXP Upgrades) when you get points in WXP for WXP Upgrades (look at tab for WvW Panel or use GW2 wiki to find out how this work) that can be used or doing a small more damage towards those types of NPCs or get a damage reduction from these type of Infusions. There is also WXP Enrichment: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WxP_Enrichment which can only be used on Ascended Amulet slot for gaining WXP Experience a bit faster.
  13. > @"MrFisticuffs.7306" said: > Buy a NEW PC now or wait until 3rd expansion comes out? I currently have a i5 CPU and my GPU is 1050ti. My son has a i7 CPU and a 1660ti GPU....I can tell a little bit of a difference. Any Suggestions for what CPU or GPU would help with FPS? First of all: never buy a new computer just because there is marketing about new game or expansion as it is impossible to know with what hardware you can afford and that hardware include if you also upgrade your display with a higher resolution then you play on right now. We don't know anything about how demanding EoD will be or it will make use of any new GPU features or run on more threads as for CPU, then before or anything about how this expansion will work for memory usage including storage space. Due to covid there have been a very high demand on computer for the cross over between home office and gaming computer (as some countries have tax reduction or other economical stimulation/compensation that increase the demand for computer and hardware like keyboards, displays, web cams etc). Add to that mining crypto-coins and the increase of hardware to get a part of that market before it drops, and it should at some stage drop down again to a more normal level as the base idea is to have a limit on the amount units produced. Second hand GPU market are also all over the place, meaning even "old" GPU have increased in price as a result from these two events. If your computer aren't broke and need fixing or a repair (replacement parts), then wait until we at least know when EoD will be released and what it will have for demands on hardware. You will pay too much for hardware that had a set value already when they where introduced and when market will calm down you will not be able to get your moneys worth back from selling it or upgrading, if you aren't careful and know what you are doing.

Do sell it in Black Lion Trade Company (short: BLTC or BLTP) as you can also sell most things to NPC, but to very low price compared to what you can get on BLTP. Not everything low level item can be sold or even salvaged, but it useful to know your options and also remember that items on BLTP will have a tax and a fee added, so don't put price too high. On left side if you accept that price it will be sold directly or you can list it if you pick a price that is higher then on left side (the price you see on right side is listed prices) as seller. If instead you want to buy something then it is reversed and you accept the price on left side or put up an buy order on right side. In any case always make sure you have the right quantity (you put in a number or use a slider). When you do a buy order you will need to have enough Gold to put up it on list (same if are a seller as you will need to pay tax and fee). In case you regret or will cancel something change to history view, list item after date, price etc to find what you want to change and then you can get your item back minus a fee or your Gold if you put up a buy order. At NPC vendors your can regret to sell items if it turns out it is a mistake, but only as long you don't change map (change tab with circle symbol). Core map (Tyria) will give you Hero Challenges that will give Hero Points from which is needed to unlock your characters skills and traits. This will take some time to do and during that time you also have your Personal Story that progress into that point you are going to meet your first dragon. Unlocking POI and Waypoints (WP) is important as you will later want to be able to get close to events or be able jump on maps where are a group people doing something. Some WP can become blocked when there is battle going on and force you to another WP. Map completion is on character level meaning with two character (Daredevil and Mirage) you will have to do it two at least two times, if you don't want to buy WP unlocks from Gem Store or have friends that can party up and use an item to "Teleport to friend". Read more here about your options related to get around from here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Waypoint - don't forget that PvP Lobby and WvW Panel offer free options to get fast to major cities and other services. There are three alliances or Orders that you pick between (Vigil - soldier, Whisper - spy/information and Priory - knowledge, academic) each with its own backstory and relationship. You also will have some minor support races that will do some services to gain their trust and support to fight your first Dragon with. Who and why you pick as race or Order is not that important (there is some achievement to make people try different combination and your own race have some impact on how some NPCs will react or comment later in game without making any major change for future game play). Anyway I will suggest to finish up Personal Story as game will default every time you finish LW or expansion story back to PS, until you finish this as for Story Journal and map guide (green dot - green text below minimap). Use ESC - key and look in Option for how you want your minimap to show guiding symbol for Story or events (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Options). When doing map completion I often disable Story guiding as this instead will show closest POI, Vista and WP. Turn your character in that direction, open main map and look how to get where you will see lightly lit up symbol for where minimap is guiding you. Just be aware that you might have to go around obstacles like buildings, mountains or even find right elevation (level of map from underground up to the sky level). There are small arrows pointing up or down in those cases, but it is still something one have to keep mind and without mounts it can be harder to get there as you need to do jumping puzzle like exploration to get to some places. With Gliding you can sometimes get to those places and later you will have more tolls like Springer (replaces some need for Glidings Updraft). If there is a problem to get around try to look up on YT how to get there or GW2 wiki. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Personal_story#Act_2:_The_Orders Combining this PS and map completion will gradually open up all WP you need and make it easier going from each city (which is related to which race you picked as the first city to start from - use those portal Asuara gates from city to city and you now have easier to open up rest of map). Just a warning as for most Story is in an Instanced world which means you will have borders to watch out to not get kicked out of that Instance. Some places it can be really narrow before you get a warning or in worse case just get kicked. Look at map how close you will to the greyed out part of map. When you work for achievement from story, it is possible to replay the same story again after first time playing through it. The pointers for where to go will change colour from green to a dark pink colour and will work as to split up some story parts, so you don't have to start it all over from the beginning after first play through. This depends on story and is not a general rule, so you have to look at map as finish more and more story and where to replay it. This link to explain how this works: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Story_Journal I am not sure you can unlock Mastery Points on character that isn't level 80, so at least focus on one character first to get to level 80 and then use Tome of Knowledge that you gain to level up next character. You need to be on that character that you want to increase in level as above level 80 character instead will get a currency that can be used for Mystic Force crafting (explained in link). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_Knowledge Here is the level rewards as your progress: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards There is an achievement for new player (or for player which start with a new character), which you only can do when you level up step by step to level 80. My advice is you don't rush into Daredevil or Mirage, but learn the basics of Thief and Mesmer as you will still need to use their skills and traits when you play as Mirage or Daredevil which will replace one trait line out of three to get access to these Elites and a new set of Weapon skills (depending on weapon that you can only equip while this trait is active), Utility skill, Healing and Elite skill. Daredevil can use Staff when this trait is active and Mirage can only use Axe. This is important to know as some skills and all weapon skills will be disabled (but weapon still equipped), if you change these Elite trait line. Make sure that under water skill also will work when you happens to be under water (look at Hero Panel and the build section where you can change tab for UW). **To sum it up:** Learn the core feature of your characters skills and trait lines before start on going for Elite specs. When you play most story parts you will gradually learn more and more how to use things. Some story are easier to to with at least another person as it can be tricky to do everything as controlling mobs, avoid getting stunned or the main target for a boss. This isn't a big problem in general for the first LW and up to HoT, but after that there are some section that can harder to do solo. You can find https://www.ayinmaiden.com/ (look for GW2 section) have done a lot of work to explain mechanics and I have used her video on Yourtube both to figure out where to go and how to finish Story parts. There are other YT that have done video guides so you can just search on Google or YT to find out which one that explains things best. Remember that some older videos might not be the same as for how it works today as there have been nerfs to skills and some have even changed over time. There might have been bugs that have been fixed and exploits that might not work anymore and with Mounts and Mastery that today exist some things might be possible that where not possible at that time. Jumping Puzzle can suddenly make your Mount or even Gliding become disabled if you get to close etc. On the other side when you learn how Skyscale work (fully upgraded with Mount Mastery to control mount with skills while in mounted mode) you can jump off your Mount in air (Bond of Faith) and summon Griffon or use Gliding to get to a JP or Vista, even JP that will disable Mount when you get too close (but still have access to Gliding). So all in all there are ways to get around things. If you have trouble with Story then you can use map chat channel (/m) and ask for help. Most of Story in this game will also gradually introduce you to new map and mechanics including how to use Mastery you have learned. Some Mastery will give passive damage reductions (in HoT map there are area which you can not interact with without taking too much damage from poison - and this is not the one you can use condition removal against) which reduce damage on certain maps, other add new skill like Counter Magic (make sure to have this key bound to something you can use fast when needed on keyboard or mouse) and other introduce new way to do things. There are Mastery you get from just doing Story once and then more Mastery if you can finish certain achievements (often you will need to repeat same Story at least one more time, in some cases it is mutually exclusive goals like you have to pick to do it in one way and then in the opposite way to get that achievement). That is why following a guide might help to avoid getting frustrated and give up. Good luck!
  16. @"Shahadien.4750" It seem that this thread have turned into Mount vs Non-mount discussion. As I see it get at least your Gliding up to where you can use stealth, later on Mount you can also get Mastery for going into Stealth. Combined with Bond of Faith Mastery you will be able to jump off your mount in air before you Mounts health pool will get too low and you instead start falling. With the introduction of Mount fall damage traits where changed and/or removed for most profession, so you now need to be prepared to go into Gliding in case you will suddenly get hit on Mount or you get to far off an edge and fall down. Springer (jumping mount) have some fall damage reduction as part of its Mastery which is also shared for other mounts. Like everything else it is hard to give a precise suggestion for what to prioritise and it is long journey, if you left game and didn't have any Mastery at all at that time. Core Tyria where designed and later redesigned to include Gliding and Mounts. There are events that you unlock as you progress from story (LW and transition between Hot to PoF) that are also happening in core Tyria. In general keep map chat channel open to see where there is activities and rush to those events where there something like Bloodcrazed monster that show up or the Awakening Invasion (prevent portals to spawn and kill mobs different places where this happens including the portal which you also have a HP bar, if you target it). These events are easier to get to and in particular the Awakening Invasion which happens several places on map will be easier to keep tab on maps you need to be mobile to get there in time. You don't need to do any story (LW, HoT or PoF) in order and I would recommend at least work at Gliding (story related to this Mastery) and then the story to get to Bloodstone Fen as here you can work towards getting both ascended rings, accessories and backpack which is 6 pc on your Hero Panel. Buy first Scrolls at the Unbound Magic vendor (special symbol on head) which work as portal scroll to get there from anywhere in game. It is account bound so you can move it to any character you want to go there and later you can buy Tomes which work to keep several Scrolls that belong to LW3 in one place (saves you inventory space). This system do exist for PoF, HoT and other area where you have map currencies (open Inventory - look for a small symbol on lower left and change mode to show currencies/wallet - here you can fast filter to show only map currencies or keys as an example). Useful tools: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World (Will show you all LW) If you need to buy LW episodes, do it from Gem Store (open Black Lion Trade Post as it is the same panel and pick correct tab which is a Gem symbol). The price is reduced on Gem Store to 160 Gem for each episode you didn't get for free (unlock for free from log in during certain dates). If you pick the option to buy episodes directly from Story Journal it will cost 200 Gem for each episode you lack. Story unlock for all your character (account bound), but you progression can be different from character to character (meaning your achievement which is for account, can be done on different character and will only show completed if you play the same character all through that episode for full achievement. If you use different character it will how you get on that character and not the complete picture which you need to use the Achievement section in Hero Panel.) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery (Will show you where to start and how Masteries are organised after colour for each zone and related stories - you need to Achievement section on Hero Panel to see your progression for some Masteries). I will also recommend to use https://gw2efficiency.com/ as it can help to find items on your account, keep track of you achievements and find out where there are gathering nodes (use copy feature which will copy a WP link, change into game, press or click to activate chat (make it into /s so you don't spam map channel and then click to go there where gathering node are supposed to be). Do at least three daily and you get 2 Gold (for each account) from this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily_(achievements). If you look up gw2efficient>Gathering you will fast see which sector that have node where you at same time can do a Vista or just gather and also finish at least one part of Daily Achievement. At Lion's Arch there is new NPC that sell special Gathering tools for Karma (be careful to not use too much Karma as it cost around 7K for each tool). Those tool are the same that you can by as Glyphs that you equip on any tool or the Permanent version (Unlimited Gathering Tools) of gathering tools that you can by in Gem Store. Read more about Enhanced Gathering Tools here and related Glyphs: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gathering_tool My personal favourite is https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skyscale_Hatchling_Harvesting_Tool because it is a rather small Skyscale hatchling that do a fast animation and it is the only where you can get Glyphs of Reaping which have 600 range to collect all of the same node type. If you need to collect ore nodes just right click on tool, make sure in Hero Panel to left click on any gathering tool to filter and only show all Gathering tool and Glyphs, click on Glyphs and move it on the tool you want this Glyph to work and now you can collect all tree in range or all ores in range instead of plants which the default for Skyscale hatchling. The cost of Glyphs on TP for the most poplar like Industrious or Reaper can be rather expensive so it can be worth to keep an eye out for sales of those special Unlimited (or Permanent) gathering tools with is sold with Glyphs. In Gem Store they don't cost more then non-glyphs versions and you can use ordinary non-permanent Gathering tools with Glyphs. I know there is a lot players that recommend Volatile Magic permanent tool (it is a package for all three node type), but as fast you will have Skyscale unlocked then it is faster to use those paths in air (Volatile Motes) that can find in Dragonfall and also other places. Unbound Magic is possible to farm with Gliding/and or Skyscale at Bloodstone Fen, but I believe that most player will spend more time in PoF (incl related LW) maps then in (HoT) and related LW. What is important here is that every permanent tool have their animation and some can be rather slow or annoying over time (blocking view). In places where staying too long on ground can kill you from taking Damage over time (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Environmental_hazard#Brandstorm), you will probably want Gathering as fast as possible and move on then have to use a WP from being killed. To sum it up: As you are couple you have the dynamic of sharing - each item that can be sold on TP will also mean can be moved to to another account and that way some things might go faster as to get gear or turn gear into mats from using Salvage Kits. Do get https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Copper-Fed_Salvage-o-Matic or any other permanent Salvage kit when it is on sale in Gem Store as it saves a lot of space, are fast to use as you can Right click Salvage Kit and let it Salvage everything that can be Salvaged after colour (tier). Use Invisible bag to store all green, blue and yellow unID (un IDentified meaning it is stored in a container and will first be shown it have been clicked or right clicked to pick mass open - as all container it can contain up to 250 items). Invisible bad is important if you want secure that you don't mass salvage anything you don't want to by accident. Upgrading Material Storage do also reduce how fast mats will occupy space and use Oiled bags to keep all junk in one space (bag). When you interact with certain repair stations or NPCs that work as merchant/vendores you can use "Sell all Junk" and get rid of junk items fast and for items that in general is very low income as some lower level upgrades that can be sold on TP (but will cost more to put up as those cost Tax) it can also be sold here. I hope this will give you and your wife a more informed start on what and how to do things. Be careful and don't use too much Karma as it now have more use then it had some years ago and use GW2 wiki, gw2effieceny and YT (for achievement, progressing in Mounts etc) and join or start a guild to get access to guild rewards. Don't use SnowCrow (which is based on RAIDing guild) as a base for run as solo or couple OW content as those are based on a group which is very close (in range) for getting and keeping max boon. Try to have at least 12-14 K HealthPool which helps a lot in all content (use chat and filter one tab to only show only incoming damage and you will see how often you can have to two hit for up to 6K that will put you in a downed state). Condition removal and Stun break (including related boons like Resistance and Stability) helps a lot, but sooner or later when you enter HoT maps or PoF you will notice it can be very frustrating to have a low HP and still not be able to kill threats in time. Mastery that have been added over time in game have also changed how builds work and being able to use Stealth even on profession that do not have access to skills for it from Gliding or Mounts will also change a lot off how open world content work. There have also been added Ascended Food as crafting in this game which can be useful as you can Salvage low level food to get crafting material which is needed for Ascended Food. Look it up on GW2 wiki to learn more how to unlock this and what attributes that food can give. This kind of food have a 5 min duration as a Feast, meaning both you, your partner and everybody can Interact (Eat) get a boost from this food. The total duration for Ascended Food are 1 hour without any Primer to extend duration up to 12 hour. These changes isn't something I see mentioned in this thread and is necessary to understand why it can be hard to start from scratch a new account or return to game without knowing what have been added since last time you and your wife played this game. Defiance bar (aka break bar) have its own section GW2 wiki and I recommend to learn how this work and why condition is more useful then Berserker attribute (which is power, precision and ferocity to get spike damage) vs damage over time which still take effect on bosses or NPCs that have Defiance bar that are closed. Hope both of you will now have more understanding where to look when there is something you don't understand or know. How to get better control of what to do as in use of gw2effiency also make it easier to search for items independent, if you are logged into game or want to see how far you have come in an achievement (which is also linked with a small icon to GW2 wiki) and what tools there is to make life easier in game as new Gathering Tools with Glyphs, larger bags and Portal Scrolls (and Tomes to collect all Scrolls in one place) that brings you to maps. Shared Inventory slots are in general expensive, but can be bought on sale so keep an eye out for Gem Store sales that aren't just for reskin f armour, weapon or mount as those do have an impact on how to play and how much work to keep Inventory from getting clogged up of items. Shared Inventory slot make it possible to fast change character and still have access to (share) items like Tome/Scroll or move Permanent items like to another character without having to get to a a Bank or a Craft Station where you can access Bank or Material Storage.

It is not hard to get the basics down and follow the rest in a zerg or squad. Keep open your map chat channel and you will also see some comments, for what is happening, if needed. Don't be afraid to ask question before a meta starts on a map. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page Here is a list from AyinMaiden: https://www.ayinmaiden.com/heartofthorns Dulfy is another one, but she stopped playing GW2 after PoF (or for around one year ago according to reddit comments). There are several other streamer which go through step by step content in GW2 on YouTube, so you shouldn't have a hard to time find out how things work.
  18. > @"Ashantara.8731" said: > > @"Troilet.9435" said: > > Is there a trick to not being perpetually knocked down and stunned? > > Proper movement and dodging, stun breaks and stability where needed. Add to that list weakness, blind and aegis all three can prevent player from getting hit (if it is a projectile). There are several methods to reduce getting hard CC and same for soft CC. Condi cleanse is more or less since HoT something player always should have access to. Don't forget there are weapon sigil (on swap) and there are certain Runes that you equip on armour which can cleanse (from use of healing skill or elite skill). It is here duration on either condition (expertise) or boon (concentration) will reduce CC as higher duration on boon as an example will also increase Aegis, Regeneration (heal over time as you take damage), Protection (red inc. damage) etc. For condi build the more Blind and Weakness you can up keep the less chance there will be to get CC:d and with condition removal and stun break there is less problem as long you Vitality are high enough to be able to take two hits for 6K (for Health Pool of 12 K it will mean you are getting into Downed state). Adjust your build with enough Vitality to increase HP (and the time you need for your healing skills and other skill to get off CD including active and passive condi removal).

The flashiness in some of these skins is _so_ gaudy and over the top, it's ridiculous. Ad Infinitum is the most obnoxious and my most _hated_ back item in this game. Have you disabled postprocessing? Try it in off and you will have less impact of all particle effects including how it handle lights and things like fog, clouds, smoke etc which can become annoying with small snowflakes or ash particles that move around in screen. The major issue isn't as much as player gear that have some shine on it, but the environment (effects) that add a lot moving object on screen that over time can become tiring on eye and brain.

Seems like those of you simply telling me to deal with it until I get to level 80 are missing the point and are kinda sounding like self-important level-3000-ers (if such a level exists, but you probably think you're that high regardless). > If they can give a quality of life thing for only a new map, then that's them being dumb for not making it somehow a universal QoL thing in the global code itself. > Heck I don't even know if I have season 4, I don't know what that means, I thought the whole world was in season 4 because I'm new to this and never really got into MMOs before (because they seemed rather boring compared to normal RPGs, which I guess still holds true in a way, it just takes a different angle on the genre). So well, here I am, just trying to enjoy the game that I paid some money for. You need to do Long Live the Lich which is part of Living World Season 4. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Long_Live_the_Lich Here is all Living World and how they are placed in relation to expansion (HoT and PoF). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World This link show all Season 4 chapters (Lich is the third one): https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_Season_4_Complete_Pack Always buy Living World story from Gem Store and not from Story section as you get a reduction in price from 200 Gems (full price) to 160 Gem (Reduction). Story can be replayed on different characters for achievement and progression in story line is not account wide, only achievement. You can find story part in Hero Panel (with a star: see link to LW S4 where there is a picture) and achievement related to certain story are grouped to make it easier to find (for Hero Panel). Yellow symbol (most of LW Season 4 have the same colour on symbol). If you want to know more use search field in GW2 Wiki with "Hero Panel" and you will find a deeper explanation how things work. As for mounts you can use Achievement to keep track of what you need and to guide your through each step.

Almost every item in game have a description, if it will be account or soulbound. Some item will become bound when you open a container (to avoid it getting bound when you loot it or get it into your inventory) and other you have to equip to make it bound (souldbound in most cases). As for both Scrolls and Tomes, both are account bound which make it possible to move those between characters and into bank or use in Shared Inventory. Just make sure to NOT double click item in Shared Inventory when you are in Bank at same time as it will move item into Bank. List of all portal scrolls in game: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_navigation#Teleportation_devices Scroll for Dragonfall: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragonfall_Portal_Scroll (Look at right and you will see that it is Account Bound. You need to complete Story: Life in the Underworld. This to get access NPC merchant that sell this item.) As suggested in this thread: Buy first Scroll and later buy Tome when you have more Scrolls that can be put into one place with Tome to save space (and Shared Inventory slot). When you have a Scroll in inventory and activate Tome, you will be asked if you want to add it into Tome. If you don't have Skyscale mount, but started to work on it, then you can borrow Skyscale (look at map icons to see where on map) and collect Volatile Magic. With only basic Skyscale (and not yet upgraded mount skills from Mastery) it can be tricky, but it do work to get a lot of VM this way and there are other maps you find if you search GW2 wiki for Volatile Magic locations. Don't buy Gathering Tools with Karma, as it is easier and cheaper to use mounts for collecting those VM currencies on maps then using Gatherings Tools (you get a small amount VM at same time other crafting material is being gathered). Same vendor that sell Tome and Scroll for PoF maps, do also sell VM Gathering Tools for Karma. At main WP (Pact Command) for Dragonfall you will find a NPC that also can exchange VM for Branded Mass and other currencies you need to for Skyscale once a day. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Traveling_Elonian_Trader

You can use copy (in Windows use mouse rightclick to bring up option for Copy and later Paste) all files into the main folder which will be moved into the new destination GW2. You will need around 50 GB for all files, if you move a fully functional copy from SSD to HDD. Just make sure that you have enough space on HDD and use the built in defragmentation (see link) from MS Windows on HDD. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/defragment-your-windows-10-pc-048aefac-7f1f-4632-d48a-9700c4ec702a When you have completed this task, go back into the new place and look for gw2-x64.exe [correction: **gw2-64.exe** after checking again gamefiles] and create a shortcut on you desktop (or place it in your taskbar for easy access). Moving GW2 means that it will take some time before it finished as you move from a rather fast medium onto a slower medium. I hope this was helpful enough.

Why are you only criticize my post instead of helping @"Gheist.1465"? Maybe you should re-read when I explain that I never done any Fractals and still gained experience in Fractal Attunement track instead of jumping to conclusion like you are doing right now? I talk about my own experience as player of this game and how things work from my PoV. Also every Mastery track are built on that you have unlocked and completed earlier tier before you can train next tier so instead of listing all earlier steps it is enough to explain that one have finished the highest tier for that track with Fractal Attunement Mastery track instead of listing Pact Commander and Legendary Crafter as you need to have put points in those before getting experience to Fractal Attunement or being able to unlock it by using Mastery Points into it. Are we now clear what my intention with this was? To cur down unnecessary information to CS about every step when one can tell what is the highest tier for that Mastery. I mentioned that @"Gheist.1465" should check how repair works as there is information on Support (which I also explained is above on these pages). As for key bindings or any other setting in Option that might have been changed that aren't default it is always best to make sure one actually know what settings one had before one trust what might be stored in a Cloud, if something happens that one where not expecting. The way you, @"Inculpatus cedo.9234", now are communicating right are in very patronizing way when someone actually try to help here on forum and put time to actually provide some sources and links. If you are so smart, why don't you even try to explain to @"Gheist.1465" what to do to get rid of all those pop ups? After all that is what this post started with and why I put up a link to CS as poster had already sent bug reports from game as far as understand it.

I, unfortunately, do now... and given that I've got a bit of nerve damage thanks to military service, it was probably harder for me than it would be for someone else. You need to use this link to get to right CS department: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Sign in to your account again, as you will be asked to sign in again even when you are logged in to post here. Look up if there any known section before making a ticket and only follow up that ticket as creating a new ticket will reset it back in cue. If you loose link you will be able to find it by looking at this page at top field and see Support link above your ID as a darker red zone with some other game related options. There are different way make screen shots today: from game, from apps that most video cards support their videocard with. This link should show you default key bind for GW2: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Options#Control_Options Which is either and/or . More and more key bords don't have Printscreen keys, so F6 is there to make it possible to create screen shots. Nvidia's ShadowPlay (which is part of GeForce Experience app and offer an overlay feature where you set up key bind and also path to store both video and screen shots; you should find the same for AMD videocard). To avoid misunderstanding the messages for New Player Experience (NPE) that you are seeing are those for Core Tyria Mastery Track which have finished when you get to Fractal Attunement as the last one. I have gained experience in Fractal Attunement even without playing Fractals, so it seem that you can gain experience in this last track without playing Fractals (might be from Dragon Rescue Mission as it instanced event and in Private (where are supposed to bring a Party up to 5 person), but I don't know for sure, only that I haven't played Fractal's at all in this game. In communication with CS use NPE as it the orange small, but annoying pop ups on screen to help/guide new players. Use GW2 wiki to first make sure that have understood how Mastery tracks work and use links to point out how far you have come in tracks. (As for Central Tyria track you use the last one which is Fractal Attunement as you need to have completed all other before you get access to that track and can at last stage put point from Mastery Insights into it. Same for all other tracks, so you don't need to spend time explaining each track, just the last one or the highest one with most points. While waiting you could also do repair of your client, if you haven't tried that to see if it resets everything to default (you loose all you key binds and changes in Options). Do a search from Google or any search engine and you should find instructions on how to do this. FYI all new characters will have NPE flash up, so can not avoid this to happen even when you fast level up with level 80 booster, use Experience scrolls or any methods which brings your character to level 80 faster then from playing game and level up step by step. When you character reach level 80 it will start to gain Mastery experience instead and most of these NPE can be just ticked away after that (only show once). Hope you issue will be solved.
