It looks as if it was devised for one particular path through the game, not the "play as you want" paths.

You can try a support ticket although someone reported (in the old forums IIRC) that one ANet support person wrote that even the staff was annoyed by the "logic" of it.

You can also try the Players helping players forum section in case someone found a way to adjust the mastery system to their gameplay.

  2. If you close it, the mastery popup will come back every time you gain experience, that is, every time you walk to a new spot, kill a bug, craft a sock, etc. While fighting a mob of mobs, don't even try to close it, because you are gaining experience every second. The popup sprawls over the chat and, on smaller screens, over the first skill icons when you would like to watch your cooldowns.

When my character finally reached level 80, I went on doing events, crafting, etc. and did not rush to binge chapter 8 of the personal story. Big mistake! The popup invited itself , determined to stay. Doing the big fights of chapter 8 with the popup stuck onto my screen was very annoying, so I did what people suggested: I abandoned the core story and jumped straight into the expansion to spend those mastery points. Except my computer at the time was too potato for the expansion, so I quit and came back when I had a better computer. I never finished the core story though, it seemed pointless.

Fun fact: When I entered the Saga, the mastery popup came back.

Here is some background information about the bug: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/8524/mastery-popup-will-not-go-away

    Good luck everyone.

  3. I get this error code almost every time a few minutes into character creation (I have been creating/deleting a lot recently), generally when reaching the last screen (enter name).

During character creation, several connections are established with the servers, exchanging data when flipping to the next screen, also pinging the server twice a minute. My wild guess is that this error may happen when a ping is lost or delayed, either on transit or within the server's load balancing system.

Things are probably way more complex when in a story instance or other game modes - but I don't disconnect in these expect some particular episodes.

I haven't played the latest maps yet, where people experience different issues, map-wide skill lag that might be caused by server logic rather than lost pings.

    No clue really :(

My characters are resolutely independent and make their own decisions without asking for my advice. All I can do is to take screenshots for my ethnographic studies. When stifled within the narrow confines of the game logic, they tend to escape to better places.

Kudos for the colorful list (which I snipped out of the quote for brevity).

    > If i understand what alter ego means, then if someone insults your characters appearance, you will just roleplay how your character would react to that. Huh. How you can take that personally is beyond me.

You are mixing up two people. True that we all have the same avatar since we can't customize it.
