  1. On Reddit, someone asked how to farm gold to get enough gems to buy the logging bear before time ran out. I knew he'd never make it, so I gifted him the logging tool.

Honestly, his gratitude was something I'll never forget for as long as I live. Yes, Guild Wars 2 is a game, but never forget there are people behind our toons.

And, yes, we do have the best community. ?

It's not what you say, but how you say it. Tone and word choice make a world of difference. 'Serial' is one. Another example? When you called another poster 'Honey', it read extremely condescending and disrespectful in my mind.

Your question has been answered. Why you feel the need to argue and disagree is another discussion. It's not that your peers here like to go against you. Unfortunately, from my limited experience, it's the opposite.

But, to return to the topic, it's a toy. Nothing more. How people use it is up to them. But ANet's intent is to make money.

That's always the number one goal for all corporations.

  3. @"Raizel.8175" I can see now no matter what is said, and despite my and others' postings that show otherwise, you want to be negative and confrontational despite any attempt to answer your question or help. I have my suspicions as to why, but it's not my place to voice them here. So, it's time to say, "Good luck," and leave this thread.

    Good luck.

  4. I wouldn't mind if _every_ class was overpowered in PvE. The issue is that the developers didn't split PvE from PvP soon enough and continue to do so. Keep in mind, Guild Wars 2's vast population doesn't PvP. It's the minority. And that vocal minority has caused more damaged to PvE entertainment than anything. And why? Because sadly the developers listened to the complaints in some poor man's attempt to create an e-sport on Twitch. Again, this game caters to a casual, PvE audience. At some point, the developers lost sight of this. And here we are.

    How to fix it?

I wish I could say they could, but at this time, we've gone beyond the point of no return. The best they can do now is to split any further balance between PvE and PvP and slowly reverse some of the changes to PvE play. And as time goes on, with more updates and expansions, the new elites will replace the old. And yes, people will forget as the newest shiny elites outshine the old ones.

That's the only solution to this nonsense now: Don't look back. Look forward. And don't make the same mistakes again.

  5. You use one glyph per one tool. In order to get more 'copies' of that glyph, you must buy the tool(s) for that said glyph again. For example, in order to get Glyph of Bounty for all three of my gathering tools, I had to buy the Shifting Sand Mining Pick three times.

It is possible to switch the one glyph to the tool needed as you gather each gathering types, but I don't recommend it as it takes time and is inefficient.

    Hope this helped.

  6. @"Samnang.1879" That implies more than one. You only asked what the point of it is. You sure you just didn't misunderstand the difference between 'serial' and 'serious'?

Regardless of that, it's a toy item from April Fools that went over like a lead brick back-in-the-day. Don't draw any conclusions from them. Some people use them as entertainment for their guild events or gatherings to entertain their in-game guests.

    Nothing more.

    > No, it isn't. They're incredibly expensive. Unlike other home nodes which slowly amortize themselves, the LWS3-currency-nodes have a limited use (i.e. until your characters are geared) and become worthless once that use is reached since (mostly) there isn't another sink for them. They're one of the worst and most poorly designed gold-sinks of the game.

Before Glyph of Bounty, it took me an average of two or three days to get a home node. With the glyph, I suspect it would take me one. The rest of your opinion is moot and not Germaine to the topic. You said you wanted one guaranteed drop. With home nodes, you get three or four guaranteed per node.

After you get all the items you want, you can consume the node currency for unbound magic and/or volatile magic. These, in turn, can also be consumed with an eater for items. Six times per day. Both options not only make them worth it but give a huge income advantage to those players that do. To the point, once you max all your currency needs, there's no reason to farm nodes outside your instance.

My apologies you don't like the answer, but the game already has what you want and then some. Again, sorry my answer didn't help you, but I sincerely hope it helped someone else.

    > The big differences between GW2 and other games is that most other games are victims of a great "dumbing down" as time goes by. I can't tell you the number of games that I and my friends have tried that have great potential at the outset, but then Group X complains about something being too hard and the company that oversees content determines that if they want to keep their players, they need to acquiesce and do away with the "hard stuff." Unfortunately, what you end up with is a game that simply isn't fun any more because there's no challenge.

    This, this, this!

  9. On a side note, I'll guess the next expansion's 'currency' will be these swim speed baubles. So much so I expect mobs to drop them as loot or at least be rewards in events and the like toward desired items. They're like foxfire clusters. When they first appeared, and were required for certain items, they sold at five gold apiece. And now? I have to vendor them to get a return.

    Again, give it time.

  10. This is the power creep. With every expansion, the newest elites make this worse and worse and worse. Yes, many new elite classes are obviously overpowered, but please don't give the players a gold ring and then turn it into brass a couple of months later . . . because someone didn't test it properly. It's not fair to your players, and it creates _a lot_ of resentment.

    Again . . . obviously.

And if I had to guess? We're seeing these nerfs because of the future power creep with the next expansion. Saw this happen before Heart of Thorns. Saw this happen before Path of Fire. And we're now seeing this happen again before the newest expansion's release.

Yes, it's balanced . . . because of the next and newest shiny elite classes.

  11. Sure would nice if one of these threads didn't turn into another back and forth. As much as I admire those of you who apparently walk on water, the OP is making a suggestion. Mistakes happen. Anything that helps players from making further mistakes is helpful not only to people but toward the game itself.

Let's not take it any further than that, please.

    > Yeah ANet makes pretty much everything in its store unclear to some degree or other, but thankfully their support staff knows this and gives out refunds fairly liberally, especially if you contact them immediately after the purchase, and before having bound the item to your account, I've had a refund for a similar situation three times, once even when they couldn't remove the item from my account.

Thank you. I agree. Luckily, the support staff is forgiving and more than understanding. :)
