I understand that some younger players might like LW stories, but for us, players older than 30 years old there should be a possibility to at least skip a stupid endless dialogs. I missed this the first time around, but now I'm really curious: what does age have to do with it? I'm 35 and pretty much the opposite - I enjoy the stories and like finding the variations in dialogue for different characters. I think it's more to do with what you're interested in and enjoy doing than how old you are.

Whoops. > > Might have been an improvement to have Taimi buzz the Commander on their communicator whenever a quake hit, just to make sure the seismic activity was noticed, even if it was just a quick 'did anyone else feel that?' Yeah, if you need to have camera shake and sound on then I'm highly unlikely to notice them. I think turning camera shake off was one of the first things I did after getting the game, and I often play with the sound off. Even when I'm able to have it on there's usually other noise in real life, and because I have it off so much a lot of unfamiliar sounds in the game too so I probably wouldn't think anything of it. It's a shame, I like finding these little additions and links between episodes, but this one sounds like it would be highly impractical for me to go looking for. I don't really fancy playing with camera shake on, and can't play with the sound on all the time, but trying to find an earthquake seems impractical. :(
  3. The equipment templates are designed to store items with different stats, not for fashion. If you use the same item in each template then it will have the same skin in all of them. If you want each template to have a different appearence then you need to use different items in each one.
  4. It's not something I would use. I don't have anything against the idea for other people but I've never seen the appeal of capes and don't use them so I don't think I'd use one as a glider either.
  5. Anet often put in little bits like this to foreshadow the next part of the story. Sometimes there's even achievements associated with it. All of the 'current events' achievements started off that way and many of them were hidden until you encountered the events.
  6. > @"Linken.6345" said: > > @"Game of Bones.8975" said: > > ANET gets more sales by having certain items available periodically instead of all the time. > > > > I know it sounds like it would be the opposite, but Disney has been doing it for years with their movies. They rotate which movies are produced and people rush to buy them because they don't know when it will be out again. If it were always available, parents would say "No" more often than "Yes." It's an interesting business model that I studied once, it's called the Disney Vault [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Vault](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Vault) > > Don think the OP said for everything to be there all the time, just that they wanted to be able to buy currently avaliably things from an online store without having to boot up the game. > > So same limitation as now just buy in game or online store. When I voted and replied I was imagining it would be exactly the same as what's currently on the gem store, the only difference is you'd be able to buy it through a web browser instead of having to be logged into the game. Since the gem store is already a web browser built into the game maybe it could even use the same site, just accessed differently.
  7. Are you on an NA or EU server? Only people in the same region as you can join you in the game, so we need to know that to know if we can play with you. :)
  8. I very rarely complete the meta achievements, and when I do it's usually a few months after the episode comes out. It's not that I don't want to do them, it's just that I always have other things I'm doing as well, so they go into my mental list of priorities and get done when I want the skin/item/emote/whatever or when I feel like finishing it off and don't have anything I'd rather be doing. I do the story on my main character as soon as I can (which might be the weekend after release, or later) and often complete the map not long after, but the meta event waits until I actually want something from it. I don't have a problem with any of the achievements involved, it's just there's too much other stuff.
  9. I don't know if it would be possible, or what might be involved in making it work but I like the idea. I often travel for work (during normal years anyway) and my family don't live nearby so I'm often away seeing them too. Between the two it's not uncommon for me to miss short sales. GW2 isn't as bad as some games, but it still happens. It would be nice to be able to buy stuff through the website for the times when I can't get into the game.
  10. > @"jahaan.1405" said: > When getting the griffon depends solely on there being enough people in the area to finish the last four events, it is not worth it and can't be done in a few days. I've already tried and failed to defend the sunspear six times. Why? Never enough people sticking around to help you after the defense of the sunspear at Diviner's Reach. Same goes for the bounty you have to do. If I can finish events without it, I won't bother to try for it again. When the defend event is about to end tell people in map chat that there's another one after that and to stick around for it - a lot of people probably don't even realise there's another event. Then, when the escort event is about to start: 1) Put an advert in the LFG tool letting players not currently on your copy of the map know they can come and join in the event. 2) Announce it in map chat and ask people to come and help. 3) Ask your guild/s to come and help. (Do all 3 together, not just one of these.) In all cases make sure you say it's needed for the griffon, both because other people might need it and just don't realise yet and because they're more likely to help if they know you need to finish that specific event and it's not just a random one you feel like doing. You could even put up the LFG message during the defend event, so people have more time to get there. Bounties are the same, with the added advantage that you can start putting a group together _before_ getting close enough to trigger the bounty, so you don't have to attempt it until you've got enough people.
  11. > @"Aaralyna.3104" said: > To avoid spoilers > > >! The last thing Bangar mentioned for his achievement was that Primordus is waking and he does mention the earthquakes. I am not sure if you need to have this part completed to notice them or if it is for everyone. I haven't experienced it myself yet but I always have camera shakes disabled. I haven't heard the sound of it either while I have the sound on. Maybe dailies isn't long enough to notice any. In short: It has to do with the upcoming Living World episode. That could explain why I haven't seen any, I completed the storyline and a couple of runs of the meta event, but haven't really done anything else in that episode. I've had a character standing in one of the spots earthquakes have been reported for a full in-game day and haven't seen anything. It could have happened when I went to get my pie out the oven, but if so it was very quick.
  12. > @"DeanBB.4268" said: > > @"Danikat.8537" said: > > ... you've only got two kinds of players - free players and ones who have access to everything... > > Minor correction: Three types of players: Those who bought the base game but no expansions. Which is largely the same as FTP, but without any of its restrictions. I do go into WvW with my core-only alt accounts. Did you somehow start reading that in the middle of that sentance? The full thing is "Although it wouldn't surprise me if that's part of why they bundled HoT and PoF together and made that the only paid version of the game - so **apart from people who bought the game earlier and never upgraded** you've only got two kinds of players - free players and ones who have access to everything." My point is that short of somehow forcing players to buy expansions (which they can't reasonably do) Anet seems to be making an effort to minimise variations between what players have access to. PvE is already fairly self-contained - you'll never find things which require mounts if you don't own PoF or thinks which require gliding, bounce mushrooms etc. if you don't have HoT. So I suspect it's in WvW and PvP they're concerned about having a level playing field. Which makes it unlikely they'd release a dedicated WvW and PvP expansion with a bunch of features only available to those who buy it.
  13. Unless it's literally just adding new skills and weapons (effectively just elite specs and nothing else) I can't see how a WvW expansion would work. WvW is designed to need big groups on each server (not necessarily going at each other directly, but you need lots of players around for it to function) so you can't have expansion-exclusive maps and any exclusive mechanics need to be relatively minor, not the kind of things which would justify a paid expansion. That's why they've already said Alliances will be a base-game update, because it wouldn't make any sense to have 1 system for people who had paid for it and another for people who didn't. Even the warclaw and gliding don't make a huge difference. It's more convinient but it's not like you can't play with people who have them if you don't. Although it wouldn't surprise me if that's part of why they bundled HoT and PoF together and made that the only paid version of the game - so apart from people who bought the game earlier and never upgraded you've only got two kinds of players - free players and ones who have access to everything. I'm not against the idea of paying for more stuff in WvW (and I'd love to see more maps available), but I think it would be an extremely difficult concept to get right and risks doing far more harm than good. I've barely played PvP and when I did it was years ago so I can't comment on that.
  14. Even with mounts and other movement options there has to be at least 1 waypoint (or something which serves the same purpose) in each map for when players die, otherwise there's no way to revive yourself. Even in this game it's not always practical to wait for someone else to come along and do it, there's some environmental effects for example which continue to do damage after you've died and can out-damage other players reviving you. But I agree it doesn't have to be waypoints. GW1 had shrines which served the same purpose, and those were brought back for Siren's Landing so Cantha could have those. Or they could have some other form of teleportation which serves the same purpose as waypoints. Personally I like having several waypoints on each map, when I need to get to a specific location quickly (like when an event is starting). Maybe not as many as basegame maps, but slightly more than PoF. I don't feel pressured to use them when I don't want to, if I'm not in a hurry I'll usually pick the closest waypoint to where I am, or the one at the map entrance and then go overland from there. (If I'm really not in a hurry and it's not too far I might not use a waypoint at all.) But I like having the option for when I want it. > @"Smoosh.2718" said: > Being that we will be going to a Zenophobic part of the world (lore wise, please dont take it personally), will we see little to no Asuran tech in the new maps, encouraging players to travel to locations on the maps with other players, who may help them get back up if they become downed. > > Personally Id love to see EoD with very few waypoints due to the standing lore 'Cantha expelled all nonhumans and closed its borders long ago. There is currently no diplomatic contact with Cantha.' If waypoints are placed in, they must look like they were bought their by airship. We don't actually know what Cantha is like now. We haven't had any contact with Cantha for about 200 years, since Zhaitain and the other Elder Dragons woke up and it became too dangerous to go there. Tyria has changed a lot in 200 years, so Cantha might have as well. We also don't know the circumstances of our characters going down there. It will certainly involve asura going, will probably involve the Pact and whatever happens might justify bringing waypoints with us and spreading them around the maps. There's lots of ways they could do it, but whatever it is I hope it's addressed in the dialogue. Not necessarily as part of the story but ambient conversations would be good. Canthans commenting on waypoints if we bring ours with us, asura commenting on the Canthan system if they have their own, something like that. Or a mix of both. > @"Zephire.8049" said: > Instead of waypoints, they may utilize shrines (Siren's Landing being an example of a map with one WP but there being 4 other shrines to teleport to). > > That said, Asura weren't present in Elona either but we still got Waypoints and Dragonfall showed us that waypoints are mobile, so while Cantha may not have the tech currently, as soon as we show up they gain access to it because it's ready to go and can be placed where needed. Tie it to story progression and you have lore reasons for why there are WPs. I'm pretty sure at least some of the waypoints in Orr are portable ones and during the escort events you see them being moved into position. The map icons don't move, but they only become uncontested when the waypoint object is in position and activated. There's also asura with the Pact who talk about setting up waypoints as they move throuh Orr.
  15. > @"choon.6308" said: > Well, it seems like earliest players were the luckiest. Getting everything for ridiculously cheap prices to max out and buy everything. 400 gems used to cost like 8 gold rofl Part of the reason things were cheaper back then is that gold wasn't as easy to come by. Daily achievements used to give nothing but achievement points (which had no rewards associated with them), there were no login rewards and many of the gold farms popular today like Silverwastes didn't exist, in fact for the first couple of months Cursed Shore was the only level 80 map, then Southsun was added (without the karka queen) and I think that was it until Drytop was added in 2014. There's been many other changes too, but I'm not going to try to list them all. I remember early on people arguing that obviously no one could be expected to get 100g for a commander tag on their own (1/3 the current price, but it was also character-specific) and obviously the idea was for a guild or other group to club together and buy one for the person who would lead their activities. Some players did manage it on their own of course, but it took a lot longer.
  16. I think they both look pretty good, but I like the one on the right more.
  17. Are you on an NA or EU server? If you're on EU then you just missed a semi-organised Serpent's Ire run at 8:30 GMT yesterday, but I'm sure we could do another one. It's not impossible to do, but it's also one of those events that takes some planning to complete. Here's what worked yesterday: * Check the Wiki to see when Serpent's Ire is going to start and make sure you're online at the right time. * - it helped a lot that it was right in the middle of prime time, days when daily achievements send people to Vabbi also help. * Arrive in time for Forged with Fire, to get into a busy map and see how many people are around. * As soon as FwF ends announce in map chat that you're going to do Serpent's Ire and ask if anyone wants to join. * Advertise in LFG to attract people not currently on the map. * Ask your guild/s if they'll join, and encourage other people to do the same. * Keep the group advertised in LFG throughout, and make a start on the event as soon as it begins, even if you don't have many people yet. We started with about 10, which was enough for the first part, and by the time we were on to the second phase we had about 30. It helps to have someone who knows the event to lead it. They don't need a commander tag, and for the first phase where you're killing veteran branded to lure out the zealots it can actually be better not to have a tag, so people are more likely to spread out instead of following the commander. But someone who can give instructions and prompt players on where to go, when to use CC skills etc. is useful.
  18. There is no way to know how many players GW2 has, currently or in total because only Anet has that information and they don't share it. What we do know is that the game is still being actively developed; there's a new release coming next Tuesday, and more planned after that, and an expansion which will likely come out some time next year. As for population you can see yourself in-game. Some areas are quieter than others and some times of day are quieter too, for example if you log in now you'll see relatively few people because it's about 2pm in Europe and about 6am in America, on a week day, so most people are either at work, asleep or getting ready for work. Wait 4 hours for the EU servers and 10 hours for NA and you'll see a lot more people in the game. But even now if you go to somewhere like Rata Sum or Divinity's Reach, or go to do a world boss event you'll see lots of people around and there will be various people in the other maps as well. Next Tuesday you'll probably see even more people online, because there's a new Living World episode (basically free DLC) being released. So no, the game is not dead. Some areas might not be as busy as they used to be and some people have gotten bored with the game, but overall it's still active and there's no reason to expect it will shut down any time soon.
  19. > @"Fueki.4753" said: > > @"Linken.6345" said: > > Wouldent be outfits anymore and defeat the purpose of the 1 piece outfits. > > There is no downside to that, other than Arenanet having to put in a tiny bit more work. There's a downside for me because of how I use outfits. I still treat them like 'town clothes' - I buy ones which don't look like armour and use them as a quick, free (no transmutation) thing to change into for situations where my character wearing their armour would look out of place, like that story instance where you're at a party for nobles in Divity's Reach or down-time in a city (or the arctic explorer's outfit when it's cold). If they were changed to armour skins they'd be useless for me because now I'd have to switch each piece manually, pay transmutation charges and then pay again to switch them back when I was done. Having said that I'd support having outfits _also_ available as seperate armour pieces, especially the ones which already look like armour. But I think for Anet that would mean having to make them twice, so it would double the work and I doubt players would accept buying the same thing twice if you want both the full outfit and the seperate pieces.

I could be wrong though. > > > > Is that confirmed. There are tons of spiders in this game and there is even a longbow skin that is a spider. > > > > > > Jup, doesn't make sense, but that was what they said. I don't know why they made the decision but I'd guess it's something to do with being able to avoid them. I'm arachnophobic and I play a ranger, I just never use any of the spider pets. When I'm fighting spiders in the game I can keep my distance (with one exception in season 4 - then I just focused on the skill bar and tried not to look at the rest of the screen). Or I can avoid those areas if I feel like I can't face it right now. Likewise if someone else has a spider pet and I don't want to see it I can move away and/or angle the camera so it's off the screen. But the way mounts in this game are designed you always have to use them for at least some things, especially since this was when they were first developing PoF and I don't think they wanted to have a second optional mount along with the griffon. There's a huge difference between a spider enemy in a cave somewhere which you can skip or fight from a distance and a spider big enough for a player character to sit on which has to be right in the middle of your screen, with your character on top of it. Not to mention spiders that size running around all over the cities. But if I remember correctly it wasn't just because people were scared of them. I remember hearing they also had issues with their mechanics, either they couldn't get it to work or when they did it wasn't unique or interesting enough to justify a dedicated mount. So I think it was the combination of the two - faced with the choice between a mediocre mount that a lot of players wouldn't like using (or even seeing in use) or scrapping it and making something which works better and doesn't creep people out they chose the second one.
  21. I think you could already do a clown costume, using something like [Confessor Caudecus's Mask](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Confessor_Caudecus%27s_Mask_(light)) from Season 3, or the [Lunatic Acolyte Mask](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lunatic_Acolyte_armor) (light armour only unfortunately) from Halloween. Actually a lot of the light armour masks could work for a clown theme with the right dyes. Then you just need suitably flamboyant clothing, and there's no shortage of that for light armour. Alternatively they could give us the costume worn by [clowns](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Clown) in the game, but then it wouldn't be possible to combine it with a mask or face paint because those are armour skins. > @"Mack.3045" said: > > @"Touchme.1097" said: > > Can you devs add some killer clown outfits or items in the game as additional content please? I wanted to have some fun dressing my character like a killer clown in PvP modes but the game is lacking on the fashion side. Please, don't make them gem only items, I would spend a few golds just to dress like a bloodthirsty killer clown like Sweet Tooth ( https://bbts1.azureedge.net/images/p/full/2016/11/b1a17266-c663-42f6-8324-225bc77e3a53.jpg ) or IT ( https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1C4.cc6fguuRjSspaq6yXVXXaz.jpg ) > > > > Regards > > > > For the love of god just NO. The last thing we need is killer clowns running around in GW2 , I couldn't think of anything worse to kill the immersion ! If killer clowns are an immersion breaker for you don't ever pick the "I never joined the circus" option for a human character.
  22. I didn't think they'd changed it in PvE, only in WvW. It was always a very basic mount in PvE. What did it used to do which it doesn't do now?
  23. I do think some of them are kind of pointless - achievements and mentoring for a start. I never see anyone using those, if they want help with an achievment they put it in the section for the area it's in and mentoring is generally done through map chat. I'm kind of torn on the dungeon one. It would be helpful for people like me to have them all in one category because I often don't mind which dungeon I do, so it would make it easier to check if anyone is looking for a group for any of them, but it would mean people really need to put up a clear description. A lot of people don't even say which path/s they're doing so I can imagine there would be a lot where you have to join the group to ask which dungeon they're going to do. But maybe people would sort that out themselves?
