What exactly causes it is going to vary and range from something obvious, like a poor wireless signal, to something you might not expect, such as another game with anti-cheat software. It could potentially be caused by anything involved in your connection, or simply due to standard packet loss that you have no real control over, which could happen to anyone at some point.
  3. > @"Ermac.1468" said: > Well one of you is lying because both can't be true. The first person is referring to the ultimate edition, which has a 72 hour delay on delivering the gems. There isn't normally a delay when buying the game, but DigitalRiver is paranoid and they will go as far as reversing a completed transaction that they later deem a risk, which ArenaNet sees as a chargeback and permanently bans the account. As you use your card more with DigitalRiver, you will gain a good reputation and won't have these problems; the fact you were held up means you have a low score. Frankly, with how many problems DigitalRiver causes, it's safer and usually cheaper to go through one of the other official retailers (dlgamer.com).

RivaTuner commonly causes this problem due to being outdated / caching. > My second issue is that whenever I'm playing the game, primarily in WvW, I get a very occasional black screen and it'll spazz out before coming back, although sometimes my secondary monitor on my set up won't come back on until the game eventually soft crashes again. This is your GPU / drivers crashing and recovering. First, confirm it's still a problem without RivaTuner. When installing your GPU drivers, you want to clean install them and try different versions. Also update your motherboard's BIOS and run through any other system updates. The GPU could be starting to fail, in which case you could try a slight underclock to make it more stable.
  5. ArenaNet makes most of their money through gems. The living world is intended to keep you active and the after cost is simply there to encourage you to login. If they were actually trying to sell it, S4 would have easily been 1000 gems per episode. Moving forwards, if they were going to charge for it, they'd simply switch to yearly expansions. > @"Anchoku.8142" said: > > @"Randulf.7614" said: > > But the lay offs were not known to be connected to gw2s finances, they were connected to what appeared to be unviable side projects > > Those side projects lost their funding and the reason is understandably filtered but, if Arenanet was well-funded, the staff would have been moved to other priorities. > They had just been hired in the years after PoF specifically for those side projects, which insiders said could have been GW3. Considering the layoffs came as a surprise to ArenaNet, the reason was likely simply down to NCSoft cutting costs after their mobile sales dived, plus NCSoft is a mobile games company now.
  6. Before the LFG tool, this was to indicate you were searching for a group. You can toggle it on/off using /lfg
  7. They changed leadership and went from having no plans for an expansion to wanting to get one out the next year. The remainder of the living world is going to feel lackluster because it's on a skeleton crew, as practically all of their resources have been shifted to pushing out an expansion in half the usual time.
  8. > @"Master Childman.2135" said: > could you kindly explain to me how an Engineer can place all the types of turrets that he can put in his skills while in AFK? in game you have the possibility to put the autoattack on only one skill. I am not aware that there is the option of being able to autoattack multiple skills at the same time? or did I miss this update? ArenaNet only does something if the person fails to respond, so with that in mind, they do it by using a macro to use their skills and a program to "call for help" when something happens. For the more casual ones, they simply have the game running in the background and use the skills when they happen to think about it / notice it. Back in the day, ArenaNet far more strict and would simply ban them on the spot, including anyone that happened to be next to them.
  9. > @"Lydhe.4507" said: > I think the problem is elsewhere, for example they never shutdown the servers for a few hours to do some maintenance, when a patch is coming it download in the background while you playing and ask you to restart the game to apply the patch but that's all, I would like some true weekly maintenance where you can't play for a few hours to reset some maps and fix some issues, currently few maps on Path of Fire are unplayable I have 5 - 7 sec of delays... the rest work fine. They do it by rotating servers. Actually shutting down is due to old systems / to save money.
  10. You don't need to open any ports to access a website. Payment problems are generally due to DigitalRiver rejecting you - they'll block transactions they deem suspicious / a risk. You could try using a VPN if they're rejecting you due to your location, otherwise only support can help you. Likewise, your bank/card may be blocking it due to being in a different location. Alternatively, here's an official 3rd party retailer: https://www.dlgamer.com/us/games/buy-guild-wars-2-path-of-fire-43807
  11. Vanilla changed the font weight on .BlockTitle (style.css) from 700 to 400.

  14. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > then i use -log -clientport 80 > then i got this error on spoiler , but the download now continue im still need to download remaining 400.000 files wish me luck i dont know what the heck happen that i do that start the download again -clientport doesn't apply to the launcher; it'll always use port 80. The error is from a proxy server / gateway. If it's not something you're in control of, using a VPN should have avoided it. Ensure GW2 was actually downloading through the VPN.
  15. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > weird thing is , i can download both of those file that you gave me but the first one is faster than the second , on first URL i go 2mb/s but on second i only got 200kbps > umm... what should i do with this file anyway? do i need to put them somewhere? The first (without changing your hosts file) is your local patch server. The other is the primary US server. You don't need to keep the file, just verify that it's the expected size. If you want to be extra sure, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter (substitute your own path if it's not Downloads/930184): CertUtil -hashfile "Downloads/930184" MD5 The hash is: f8ad1c87cd0848d47f193c62d272c6ef Unfortunately, since it didn't affect your browser, it's not a specific block, so it's a piece of software that is monitoring your traffic, which GW2 is especially susceptible to when done improperly. What exactly it is you'll have to figure out (disable any anti-virus/firewall/security or network/management/monitoring related software), or worst case, re-install Windows. Your last simple option is using Gw2Launcher mentioned previously to serve as the patch server, which will allow you to do this same test directly with GW2.
  16. If there's a bad sector on your disk and GW2 at some point happens to be hitting it, your disk will freeze for ~5 minutes while it tries (and fails) to read from it. During this time nothing can access the disk and it will inevitably cause the system to freeze. To test for this, use chkdsk /B for a full surface test. Note bad sectors can spread and worsen over time, resulting in data loss.
  17. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > here is the log , and i think this going to help a lot? i copy just part of the bad HTTP response , the return value continues afterward until count 16 consecutive 86 Here's a sample of the file it's stuck on (it's 65.2 MB / 68,428,500 bytes). Try opening it in your browser: http://assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com/program/101/1/0/930184 For comparison, here's the same file from the primary server (if you're editing your hosts file, this is it): http://origincdn.101.arenanetworks.com/program/101/1/0/930184 What's happening is something is modifying/blocking GW2 from downloading it; more specifically, the header is being modified. If you were to block that URL in a firewall or website filtering software for example, it would have the same effect. Hopefully your browser has the same problem and the error it shows tells you what's causing it. If a generic error page is shown, press F12 in your browser, select the network tab, then reload the page to have it appear under the tab - click the entry to view the (received) header and inspect it for clues. Proper software will include either a custom error page or the name of the software/company in the header. > oh sorry i tried again and check the network , and yes i can still download I'm assuming GW2 was still stuck? Note the IP is currently: 54.159.248.86 or 18.233.105.62
  18. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > i got 2 kind of files there is Network.Diag.Log and VerifyResult.log What you wanted was Gw2.log from using the -log option. Those are from the -diag option, and those files would normally be created under Documents/Guild Wars 2/, whereas Gw2.log should be under %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/. Note you can't use -diag and -log at the same time, and -diag was just to test if the options were working so you don't need to use it again. What OS are you using? GW2 changes where it puts these files if the normal paths aren't available and it will fall back to its own folder as a last resort. The folders it may use are: Documents/Guild Wars 2/, %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/, %temp% and the folder where GW2 is installed. If you're using Windows 7 or higher, as a more visible alternative you can use this, which offers a built-in patch server so you can see exactly what GW2 is doing. To use this, simply run it and it'll begin with a quick start guide - add 1 account, naming it whatever, then click through to the end to finish it. Once created, right click the account you created > tools > patching > asset proxy. Under the proxy, advanced > override DNS, then enable the proxy and both options to record. Right click the account again > selected > launch (normal). > no when i were on safe mode i dont get any internet access And that was with safe boot + network checked? If network wasn't checked, you wouldn't have internet access. If it was checked however, then you have software that is controlling your network connection. Some firewalls/security software (or malware) for example will replace your drivers, which under safe mode means you won't have an internet connection because the software is disabled, but its driver isn't. To get this working, you'd need to uninstall whatever this software is, or worst case, re-install Windows. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > and yes im still stucked on 22% even when using 32bit launcher GG Note that to use the 32-bit launcher, you have to launch it with the -32 option, otherwise it just starts the 64-bit launcher. Use the task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) to verify which one is running.
  19. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > this is getting weird , i cant pint the url it return RTO > i tried to ping both 52.204.88.58 and 52.21.127.215 it just RTO That was expected; these IPs do not respond to pings. The purpose was to confirm what the IP is, as shown here: ping assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com Pinging assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com [**52.204.88.58**] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. ... You want to confirm that what you set in the hosts file is shown in the ping, which should be either 52.204.88.58 or 52.21.127.215 > also the log data is not showing even though i add -log -patchconnections 1 to the target on properties when i launched it again > at this point i just think my pc is broken Options should appear after the target, like this: "C:\Example\Gw2-64.exe" -log -patchconnections 1 To confirm GW2 is picking up the options, try adding: -diag -diag will start the diagnostics tool instead of the launcher. If it fails, make sure you're using a simple - and not something that looks similar. You can alternatively use a /, like: /diag As an alternative to using a shortcut, press WindowsKey+R and open it like this, substituting your own path: "C:\Example\Gw2-64.exe" -log -patchconnections 1 To open the folder where the log is located, enter the following into the address bar of a folder, or press WindowsKey+R and open: %appdata%/Guild Wars 2 --- Also, I updated the first post while you were reading it, so there's this part: To rule out most other software, search the start menu for cmd (command prompt), right click it and run it as an administrator. Enter the commands: netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset msconfig The last will open msconfig. Under the boot tab, select safe boot and network under it, then OK and reboot to enter safe mode. When under safe mode, confirm you still have internet access, then try launching GW2. To return to normal, open msconfig (WindowsKey+R > msconfig) and uncheck safe boot. --- If after all this (and doing it successfully) it doesn't work, try a VPN; TunnelBear is a popular free one. Only use it to get past where you're stuck.
  20. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > I tried to do that again and yes the IP is changed , also i try to change the IP too but then still not helping , it download still stopped on 6GB and stuck at 0kbps then not downloading anything The IP is currently 52.204.88.58 (or 52.21.127.215). With that set in your hosts file... Confirm the IP is applied by opening a command prompt (search the start menu: cmd) and entering: ping assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com It should show the IP as: Pinging assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com [52.204.88.58]... (it won't respond to pings, so the requests will time out) With the IP verified, open the following in your browser to confirm you can access it: http://assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com/latest64/101 It should show something like this: 108580 2372703 34799784 2372691 15148 If it's still stuck, delete %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat, and if it exists, Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat, then launch GW2. Note this will delete your saved login, sound and some graphics settings. If it's still stuck, launch GW2 with the options: -log -patchconnections 1 ... and if it's still stuck, let it sit for a few minutes, then close GW2 and check the log: %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Gw2.log At this point GW2 is likely being blocked by other software, or in rare cases, your ISP is causing it (which requires a VPN). GW2 is susceptible to anything that monitors/interferes with your web traffic. To rule out most other software, search the start menu for cmd (command prompt), right click it and run it as an administrator. Enter the commands: netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset msconfig The last will open msconfig. Under the boot tab, select safe boot and network under it, then OK and reboot to enter safe mode. Try launching GW2. To return to normal, open msconfig (WindowsKey+R > msconfig) and uncheck safe boot.
  21. > @"cener.8259" said: > do you perhaps have any other solution? thanks in advance The IP actually changed after posting that, so try 52.204.88.58 It changes whenever they push a patch internally, so for the current one, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter: nslookup origincdn.101.arenanetworks.com 8.8.8.8
  22. > @"GrimReaper.3865" said: > tried the IP add , still wont work for me , the game just stuck at 0% If you used that IP, it's outdated. It's currently: 52.204.88.58 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com

  24. The -assetsrv option currently doesn't work and has been broken for months. The alternative is: Search the start menu for notepad, right click it and run it as an administrator. Open: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts At the bottom of the file, add the following line, then save: 50.16.122.131 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com Launch GW2. When you're done, remove the line.
  25. The trading post is just a website, so it's using port 443 (https). You can test your general ability to access it through your browser (use internet explorer): https://tradingpost-live.ncplatform.net/humans.txt https://tradingpost-dfw-live.ncplatform.net/humans.txt CoherentUI_Host.exe is what's actually acting as the web browser. If it can't access the internet, it will cause this problem. > @"martynz.5619" said: > win 7 If this is an older version, you need to run through Windows update; SP1 is required.
