I believe a good portion of their gem store sales are supported by Fashion Wars. They need these effects to be visible to encourage purchases. Just my opinion. While the statement is true, I think it could readily be applied to infusions, as they are not store sold items, or is there one sold that I'm not aware of ? > @"Urud.4925" said: > Old topic (but always worthy of a thread from time to time), and old pictures (hidden as spoiler to don't take too much space) > > > Legendary weapons always add... a distinctive touch to the fight. > > > > > When you brag about your skins... this is what I see on you: nothing :p > > > > > Ez, just follow the tag > > > > > Where am I? > > > > > Even the game tells you that there is confusion > > > > > Remember to dodge, when the boss raises his arms. If you can load the model, that's it. It's like playing "Where's Waldo" where every player is Waldo.
  2. Which raises the question what sort of guild hall would we get in Cantha ? A large structure with many halls ? A city district ? A temple complex lost in the wilderness ?
  3. Give everyone medizookas to launch themselves above walls. _Balance !_
  4. The reports of it's death have been greatly exagerated
  5. > @"Randulf.7614" said: > I'm not going into detail - there's loads of others threads on this subject and my thoughts can be found better in those > > In summary it's average. It has some moments and some of the gameplay has been enjoyable with maps ranging from great to uncharacteristiacally poor (usually the second half of each map). In fact it started off excellently. This Chapter and the last were a low point though. It's not even that the idea of DRMS or the story is inherently bad, it's just side content that should be accompanied by deeper content. The DRM's also need a solo option. Players should have the option to do challenges or story at their own pace. > > > > I agree on the quality and quantity of the content, at that point I learned to accept it was going to be that way till the end. I'm mostly sad because we're likely never going to get the Wolf and Leopard shaman armors or similar nifty skins. Quality of the weapon models dropped Drastically too. Some of the dragonslayer weapons that have blue blades look like they're made out of plastic, or unfinished. The only weapon that I could notice was different was the Azure Dragonslayer Staff, it has an effect and seems to be the Only one that does, the Crimson Staff doesn't, it isn't consistent. On the other hand, I have readily been able to solo all the DRM storyline missions, and even the normal ones so far. It is excruciatingly long, but it is possible. One -major- gripe I have though : the Norn Shaman allies. They just die. All-The-Time. What point are they if they're dead from the start of a boss battle to the finish. Every time I see them as default allies my mind draws a blank and I back out. They are a pain to make use of, and their benefit is negligible. I dont ask for their buff to be boosted, but their health please. You get only 4, but they last as long as a standard Vigil soldier. So 20 seconds against 2 non veteran Destroyer. Enough. Sidenote : You made the United Legion allies give us Charrzooka that properly use the animation : Please extend this to the Racial Charrzooka skill. It is a bundle, and the model look awkward, whereas the new model and animation works perfectly for it. Throw your charr engineers a bone !
  6. A sidenote to your remarks : Staff elementalist frequently require windups and is generally a slow but powerful weapon. It doesn't surprise me that enemies are killed by someone else before you can land a couple of hits. Staff is the equivalent to an artillery support weapon. It is efficient when you have a group protecting you and you attack another group. For fast and mobile range combat, I'd recommend a scepter, whose projectiles are much faster and windups near instant. Secondary weapon could be either a focus or dagger, both complement Scepter well. The "issue" with the game as it is, is that many strong and high level players will frequently roam low level areas for various reasons, all legitimate. They could be trying to get materials, do map completion, hunt events, or actually try to accompany a new player through the game for example. And many of those high level players are using top of the shelf gear, along with dedicated builds. Among those builds, High DPS is very prominent, as many game modes glorify the high numbers, and many players do not change gear between modes (why would they, it works just as well). Downscaling is meant to do just that, and it does it most of the time. Now the problem is : A dedicated DPS build Still would do -that- much damage even when their level is much lower. That's just how the combination of specializations, rune, sigil and skill use works, even without stats backing them up. Theorically, if you wanted to put Everyone into the same level playing field, you'd need to remove specializations from those high level players, depending on which zone level area they are in, and then, you'd cause a massive mess for those players, because you'd either remove specialization lines (a player would have only 2 or even 1 specialization line available at one time) or the traits themselves (to simulate a player not having unlocked some of those traits at this stage of the game). There are two problems with that : Beside the elite specialization line, it's impossible to guess which specialization players slot in what line, and just removing the line would mean having players stop and remake their build every time they enter a map, a major frustration. Secondly, it negates the progress they've achieved with their character completely, a very unpleasant feeling, that few developpers would risk causing in their playerbase.
  7. If it lasted longer, I probably would, but considering it takes almost just as long to set it up as it does to use it's effect, no. The effects are also far too small. I'd rather just use straight skills which I can pile up and get more immediate effects from.
  8. OP didn't read the dev post further than the title.
  9. In all circumstances, the answer to that question has always been : Yes. Now can you outrun the consequences of it, that's another question entirely.
  10. I finalized my design for my Flame Shaman (elementalist) Charr, and started an Olmakhan (druid) design. One of my goal is to finish that design I also accompanied a friend from her first steps to starting Heart of Thorns. My goal is to potentially have more people follow that path, guildies or not.

That is true for many different dye colors, which look widely different based on what you use it on. I wish it was based on the material, so that it would atleast be consistent, but it isn't.
  12. Charrs. ...Hmm ? Detail ? Oh fine. It's extremely rare nowadays to find a non human race that looks Really non human, but is still done well. To my knowledge, there exist really a handful of these, and many are subscription based. In this game, even the humanish races feel properly different from humans. You feel there are cultures established, life. This is a game that succeeded in fleshing out it's world. Every part of the world feels like it is in the right place, and the characters in it do not feel out of place, some even comment on the situation displaying a form of awareness. There is continuity. It's something I always use to describe Guild wars 2 to others, but : it's a product of love. You can tell by the amount of detail and attention it received that the creators of it really took good care of making that world fit. On the more mechanic aspects : This is a game with a fantastically meaty combat. All classes feel and look unique, and you can feel the impacts on yourself and others. Lastly, it is reviled by some, but I like the condition systems in this game, as well as all the CC aspects of it. Simply put, the combat has been done well (balance on the other hand is still a work in progress).

Just make sure to fact-check next time before claiming someone else made a statement. Even if not intended, wrong "truths" can spread that way. > I'm not sure if marketing can actually do something about people not listening correctly ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ It's weird though, I wonder where I picked that up. I generally only have a wild imagination when sleep deprived. Regardless, I stand corrected

It dates back to icebrood saga announcement Edit : As it happens, I mis-remembered that : disregard !
  16. Arguably, and this is coming from the company itself : Icebrood Saga is -not- Living World. So there is some sort of consolation in that ? Edit : As it happens, I mis-remembered that : disregard !
  17. Personally, it's the glider that had my attention, unfortunately for me, the key gods were not kind. Here's my wintersday wish : I hope that like the fire wings, they're added at a latter point to the black lion statuette shop..
  18. Make all of those outfits available for achievements maybe : Could be an arbitrary amount of gold, could doing specific parts of the storyline (There are many instances of us going to a well dressed party... decked in armor) or as a quest chain that fleshes out cities and characters. That way it would at least be achievable, and stays close to it's original intention.
  19. I regularly knock people's boots off of em with my rev hammer. No idea what you're talking about. Just because hammer 2 gets nerfed doesn't diminish the value of a Solid Stone Smash in the face with a hammer 1. Ah. You say it's too slow. I raise you a Sigil of Rage. Doesn't diminish Hammer 3's combo blast effect, nor Hammer 5's wide group CC either. Weapons are more than 1 skill.
  20. Too long, too repetitive, bubkiss rewards, and factions having little to no impact. I was hoping for them to be more in line to fractals instabilities (but reversed) in how much they impact gameplay, but they just dont.
